Chapter 54: CARING FOR HER <3

Levi and Sana's lives were about to change in ways they could never have imagined. The news of Sana's pregnancy had swept them both into a whirlwind of emotions. At first, Levi had been overwhelmed with worry, uncertainty clouding his mind as he grappled with the responsibility of becoming a father. But soon, that anxiety transformed into a joy so profound, it almost startled him. Every day, his feelings for Sana grew deeper, and with each passing moment, the instinct to protect her—protect the family they were about to build—became all-consuming. He was no longer just her partner; he was her unwavering support, her confidant, the one constant she could rely on as they navigated the unknown together.

As the weeks passed, the shift in Levi was more than apparent. His once impenetrable stoicism softened into a gentle warmth, and it was impossible to miss the way his gaze lingered on Sana. His touches, once restrained and brief, became deliberate and affectionate. He smiled more often—an expression of tenderness that he had never shown to anyone, not even his closest friends. The smile he gave her was soft, genuine, a quiet declaration of his love, and even his teammates noticed it. The iron-willed captain, the man who rarely let his emotions show, now smiled without hesitation in front of his team. And it wasn't the forced smile that some might have expected; it was an expression that spoke volumes, one that made everyone around him wonder what had happened to the man they thought they knew.

Levi's care for Sana was evident in the smallest, most intimate ways. He brought her breakfast in bed every morning, ensuring that it was exactly what she wanted, never once complaining about the task. His meticulous nature was reflected in the way he rearranged the pillows around her, adjusting them until she was completely comfortable. No chore was too big or too small for him. He took over the cleaning, the cooking, and any tasks that required attention, all without a word of protest. Every time he saw her growing more tired, he would insist that she rest, encouraging her to take a break from work whenever possible. "You don't need to work so hard," he would say, his voice soft but firm. "Stay home today. I'll handle things. You need to rest."

When she did work from home, he would bring her tea and snacks, always checking in to make sure she had everything she needed. He never left her side for too long, always hovering nearby, ready to help in any way.

But it wasn't just the household chores that showcased his devotion; it was the quiet acts of love, the moments where words weren't necessary, that truly highlighted his role as her protector and caregiver. Whether it was holding her hand as they walked to a doctor's appointment or simply sitting next to her as she rested, Levi made it clear through his every action that Sana was his world.

Levi's attention to detail extended to their daughter, Layina, as well. He spent time with her, playing, reading, and making sure she felt just as important as the new life growing inside Sana. He would smile softly when Layina climbed onto his lap, asking him to read her a story or play with her, and his affection for both of them became a quiet promise of the family they were building together.

Sana, for her part, had started to settle into the changes that were taking place, a mixture of excitement and nervousness bubbling in her chest. The thought of becoming a mother was filled with wonder, yet the uncertainty of what lay ahead lingered in her mind. But seeing Levi's transformation, his unwavering care, his tenderness, and his quiet love reassured her. She knew without a doubt that he would be by her side every step of the way. She had never felt safer, never felt more loved, than in those quiet moments where Levi was simply there with her—his steady presence a constant anchor in the storm.

Despite their private lives, rumors about their relationship began to circulate within the ranks of the Survey Corps. It was hard to ignore the subtle whispers behind closed doors, the curious glances from their comrades. Farlan, who had always been the first to tease Levi, couldn't help but poke fun at his friend's newfound softness. "I can't believe it, Levi," he would say with a playful grin, "you're going to be a father. I'll have to start calling you 'Papa Levi'." But Levi would only roll his eyes and give a small smile, a hint of amusement in his normally composed demeanor. His response was always deadpan, but there was something in the way his eyes softened when he thought of Sana and their growing family—a warmth that made his smile just a little bit brighter.

One afternoon, as the sun sank low, Levi and Sana found themselves in the garden. Sana was kneeling beside a patch of blooming flowers, her hands tenderly caring for each one. There was a glow about her, a serene radiance that seemed to fill the air around them. Levi stood at a distance for a moment, watching her with a mixture of admiration and love. There was something so beautiful about seeing her like this—at peace, content, her hands nurturing life in more ways than one.

He stepped closer, his voice quiet and gentle as he asked, "Everything alright, Sana?"

She looked up at him, her eyes warm, her lips curving into a soft smile. "Yes," she said, her voice serene. "Everything's perfect. I'm just enjoying the peace."

Levi crouched beside her, his hand instinctively reaching to brush a stray lock of hair from her face. His touch was tender, as if every movement was made with the intention of showing her just how much she meant to him.

Her voice trembled as she looked up at him, her eyes filling with emotion. "Thank you, Levi. For everything. For all of this."

Levi's heart gave a soft pang. He leaned in, pressing a kiss to her forehead, his lips lingering there for a moment longer than usual. "No need to thank me," he murmured, his voice rough with emotion. "I'm just doing what I should do. It's nothing."

But to Sana, it wasn't nothing. It was everything. In those simple words, in the way he held her, in the way he cared for her with such quiet devotion, she saw a love that was boundless. Levi had become her rock, the steady hand she could rely on when the world felt uncertain.

The rest of the afternoon passed in silence, the kind of peaceful companionship that only they could share. Levi would occasionally read to her, his voice soft and soothing, as she continued her work in the garden. The rhythm of their movements, the quiet presence of one another, spoke louder than any words could. They were building something beautiful together, something that would last.

As the evening descended, they joined Farlan and Isabel for dinner. The atmosphere was warm and filled with laughter, a stark contrast to the uncertainty of the world outside. They talked about the future, about their plans for the baby, and the ways they would support Levi and Sana as they embarked on this new chapter of their lives. Farlan's jokes were gentle, and Isabel's reassuring words brought Sana comfort.

Isabel reached across the table, squeezing Sana's hand. "We'll take care of you, Sana. We're all here for you."

Sana's eyes filled with gratitude, her heart swelling with emotion as she looked at the friends who had become like family. "Thank you. I don't know what I'd do without all of you."

Levi, who had been quiet for most of the conversation, finally spoke, his voice steady, filled with love and conviction. "We're a family now," he said. "Whatever comes, we'll face it together."

Later that night, as Levi walked Sana back to their room, his heart swelled with a quiet joy. They were stepping into a new phase of their lives, one filled with challenges and growth, but also with an unwavering love. He would face whatever came their way, not just as a partner, but as a father, as a husband, as the protector of their family.

As they lay in bed that night, Levi's lips brushed gently against Sana's, his fingers tenderly caressing her cheek. The warmth of the moment lingered between them as they drifted off to sleep, their hearts entwined, their bodies wrapped in the comfort of each other's presence.

For the first time, Levi knew a peace he had never felt before—a peace that came from knowing he was exactly where he was meant to be. With Sana, with their child, with the family they had built together. And in that moment, as they slept side by side, he knew that no matter what the future held, they would face it together. Because they were a family now, and nothing—nothing at all—could ever change that.
