Chapter 3: Strange Feeling (1)
Opening his eyes, Asta didn't immediately understand what had happened. Suddenly, memories of recent days flooded back, and he felt something had changed within him. With hope, he stretched his hand forward and shouted. This desperate act woke everyone in the church, and Father Orsi dashed into Asta's room, thinking the boy was unwell again. But all he saw was Asta's sad face and a quiet whisper: "It didn't work…"
"How do you feel, Asta?" Father Orsi asked with a hint of concern.
Seeing Father Orsi and the other children in the room, Asta forced a smile and reassured everyone that he was fine.
Everyone sighed in relief, especially Yuno, though he tried to hide his emotions. After a brief pause, Yuno asked the question that was on everyone's mind:
"Why did you suddenly fall ill?"
Asta avoided eye contact and seemed to sweat a bit. Yuno, like the others, immediately sensed that Asta had done something reckless. Father Orsi gave him a stern look — his usual way of getting the truth, and it usually worked. Under this gaze, Asta finally opened his mouth and hesitantly began:
"Well… you see…"
After he explained everything, Father Orsi cried out, jumped at Asta, and tugged his cheek:
"You fool! Didn't I tell you not to take things from strangers? A potion that gives magical power? Ha! I've never heard anything so ridiculous. He tricked you! I'll go find him right now!"
With that, Father Orsi hurried out of the church. In his absence, the other children seized the chance to tease Asta, calling him "idiot."
"Shut up, you little brats!" he snapped.
But it didn't stop them — they laughed at how easily Asta believed the suspicious seller. Unable to bear it, Asta bolted out of the church. He wanted only one thing — to start training immediately. Ever since he woke up, he felt a strange, almost obsessive urge to train.
Reaching the forest, Asta headed for the Demon's Skull — the place where he usually trained. Once there, he jumped into his routine: 1,000 push-ups, 1,000 pull-ups, 1,000 squats, and an hour in plank position. He did all of it with incredible ease, not even breaking a sweat. His body strengthened before his eyes; every muscle developed and became more defined.
When that didn't seem enough, he decided to increase the challenge and put on 50 kg weights. At first, it wasn't easy; he struggled with push-ups, barely reaching 300. But gradually, his pace increased, and he performed the exercises faster and faster. What should have taken at least 16-20 hours, Asta completed in just 4 hours. He couldn't believe it and kept repeating:
"Is this even possible?" he said in amazement, looking over his body. For a ten-year-old boy, he was in incredible physical shape.
Looking up at the sky, Asta saw it was only noon. He was about to continue training when his stomach let out a loud growl. In an instant, he felt a wave of exhaustion wash over him. It surprised him — just a second ago, he was full of energy! Nevertheless, he knew one thing: he needed food as soon as possible.
With this in mind, Asta headed back toward the church. He noticed he was running faster than usual: if he used to run at 20 km/h, now he felt he had reached 25 km/h. But his growling stomach reminded him to slow down. And then Asta began to suspect that his overwhelming hunger was a result of the intense training he'd never experienced before.
Fortunately, the church was already close.
