Chapter 13: A Dungeon
Hearing his name, Asta stopped his training and looked in the direction of the person calling him.
"Hmmm?" he said, raising an eyebrow in surprise.
Upon seeing David, Asta was filled with anger and began shouting at him.
"David, you bastard! Why did you do that?!"
David, frightened, quickly came up with something to say.
"You wanted to become the Wizard King, right? Do you think it's that easy to become one?" he scoffed. "Wizard Kings overcome all their difficulties on their own!"
Hearing these "wise" words, Asta paused for a moment. Then, with stars in his eyes, he shouted.
"Oh, right! You're absolutely right, David! How did I not think of that? Sorry for getting angry at you!"
Saying this, he looked at the wild boar.
"Here, let me offer you some of this boar as an apology."
The boar started squealing and squirming in response.
But Asta kept smiling, looking at David. David, on the other hand, turned pale and thought, "How can you say that with such a face?!"
"Better let it go, Asta. That's not why I'm here," David said, trying to avoid the situation.
Asta sighed a little sadly.
"Oh, come on! — he looked at the boar again. — Look at it! Don't you feel any appetite looking at it?"
Seeing David shake his head left and right in denial, Asta let the boar go. As soon as the boar touched the ground, it squealed and ran off into the forest.
At that moment, Sekre flew down from the tree, pecked David a few times, and then returned to Asta's head.
Asta, still smiling, started petting Sekre on the head, and she gladly accepted his attention, even closing her eyes in pleasure.
At that moment, Asta suddenly remembered something important.
"By the way, David, remind me, why are we here?" he asked, turning to his companion.
David, tearing his gaze away from the bird, coughed and said:
"We're looking for something," he said with an important look, pulling out a strange lamp. "This will help us," he finished.
"What's this?" Asta asked, a bit confused.
Sekre carefully examined the lamp and seemed to recognize it from somewhere.
"This?" David proudly declared, "This, my dear friend, is a dungeon detector! When a dungeon is near, it starts emitting light!"
"Woooow! A dungeon? How cool!" Asta exclaimed in full admiration.
"That's right!" David replied, raising his head proudly. But almost immediately, he started coughing when he saw Asta.
"What's that?" Asta asked, grinning foolishly.
Sekre, sitting on his head, looked very focused.
David coughed and muttered under his breath:
"Right, he's a country bumpkin..." Then, he began explaining in the simplest terms, as if explaining it to a monkey. "When a dungeon is nearby, the lamp starts shining brighter! It's that simple!"
He continued walking forward, and indeed, the lamp began flickering. Seeing this, David shouted:
"It's flickering!" Quickly pulling the lamp out, he started walking around, playing a game of "hot and cold," checking where it glowed brightest.
At this moment, Sekre felt something strange. She knew exactly what it was. Quickly flying up, she pointed for Asta to follow her.
Asta, looking at David, yelled:
"Come on, let's go this way!" and began following Sekre.
David decided to check the direction Asta was heading. When the lamp began flickering even brighter, he followed them. They kept walking until they stumbled upon a cave, beyond which an incredible view of architectural structures appeared.
David, looking at it, said only one thing:
"A dungeon."
