As a Villain I Really Don’t Want To Be Pursued by the Heroine

Chapter 62

“Mom, go about your business!” Charlotte, in a mix of dragging and pulling, pushed Mireille to the door, fearing she would stay another second.

Otherwise, she couldn’t even imagine how deep she would be trapped.

“In a while, you can take Roy hunting in the woods, just play around, and come back before dinner, then you can do whatever you want.”

“Hey, I’ve just arrived, shouldn’t I rest properly…”

Before Charlotte could finish, Mireille leaned down and whispered with a light laugh, “Silly girl, private moments are rare, this is as far as mom can help you.”

Charlotte trembled like she was electrified, and her movements stopped immediately.

After saying that, Mireille waved cheerfully at Roy and tactfully stepped out the door.

Suddenly, only Roy and Charlotte were left in the room, with Robert’s hearty laughter occasionally coming from outside, making the silence inside even more pronounced.

“That…” The girl returned to her seat in front of Roy, somewhat uneasy.

Karl and Old Raymond are Robert’s good brothers, and they occasionally come to the royal family’s dinners, but they never take the initiative to enter the house.

How could Charlotte have expected someone to barge in suddenly?

Damn it, it’s all mom’s fault, making her witness such an embarrassing scene! What a surprise, her image is completely ruined now, isn’t it?!

Charlotte was even too embarrassed to look at Roy’s expression.

A reserved and elegant man like Roy would surely mock her for being indecent. The usually proud little princess had lost her confidence at this moment.

Staying in the room would only keep her thinking about the awkward scene earlier, so Charlotte now thought taking Roy hunting might not be such a bad idea after all.

But Roy was the guest, and Charlotte tried her best to appear calm: “What do you think?”

“Uh…”

The abrupt question made Roy hesitate, “I think pink suits you.”

“Ah…” Charlotte let out a cat-like adorable whimper, the blush that had just faded from her face reappeared, and she glared at him annoyed, then suddenly shouted, “Not that!”

“I’m asking if you want to go hunting together!”

“Sorry, sorry.” Roy touched his head, a dry smile on his face, his heart skipping a beat from the girl’s glare.

Fortunately, she was just glaring, looking seemingly angry, yet not quite the same.

“If you’re tired, forget it! I can go alone!” Charlotte said as she stood up, her fiery red skirt swaying.

“No, I must go too. It’s not gentlemanly to let a lady go out alone,” Roy hurriedly followed her out.

“Suit yourself.” The girl, with her back to Roy, seemed indifferent, but in reality, she was secretly delighted, her lips curling into a smile.

Mother was right, this rare private moment was a golden opportunity, far better than the tedious courtly interactions, to make Roy realize the charm of this young lady!

Such a rare chance, perhaps I should be a bit bolder.

Alas, I have no other pink dresses.

Roy, in fact, was calculating similarly.

Having just bought Alice a brooch, he was worried about not having enough favor points. Now that they were alone, wasn’t it the perfect time to make a good impression?

However, Roy had a clear line drawn in his mind.

Earning favor is one thing, but one must not overstep and offend. It’s about knowing when to stop, even if he had no interest in Alice, who was a lily after all.

Two words, moderation.

Roy followed Charlotte to the backyard of the vacation cottage, where there was a stable, but instead of horses, it housed several griffins.

The adult Storm Griffin was more than three times the size of a horse, and a few together were quite a sight.

Charlotte led out the smallest one, the royal griffin Roy had seen during their last matchmaking encounter, with its golden-red fur, proud and regal.

But with a casual pat on the head by Charlotte, the griffin lay down obediently like an affectionate big cat.

“Oh, how I wish I could have a griffin of my own,” Roy, a fluffy enthusiast, expressed his envy.

“Is there a trick to taming this fellow?”

“Em… Each griffin has a distinct personality, and taming techniques can’t be generalized. This one gave me quite a bit of trouble too!” Charlotte stroked the griffin’s head, sighed, and then said, “If I had to say, it’s about understanding their preferences!”

“Do you want to touch it?” Charlotte, holding the reins, brought the griffin to Roy.

“Yes!”

Roy reached out excitedly and placed his hand on the fluffy head of the golden-red griffin.

Griffins are known for their bad temper, and this one was no exception.

From noble mtl dot come

But just as it shook its head, ready to get angry, it felt a heat at the back of its neck and suddenly found Charlotte pinching it there, looking on benignly.

Why? So does love disappear?

The little griffin couldn’t understand why its master was suddenly so fierce, and had to reluctantly let Roy pet it.

However, upon actually petting it, Roy realized the griffin’s fur was quite tough, and the feel was only average.

After all, its hide could withstand dragon claws; it was rough and tough, and naturally, the fur wasn’t soft.

Roy’s verdict was, not as good as Alice.

“What’s this burnt smell?”

“Must be your imagination.”

Charlotte quietly withdrew her hand.

After fumbling for a while and getting on good terms with the golden-red griffin, Roy finally remembered to ask for its name.

“What’s this fellow called?”

The original work had limited space and couldn’t cover such details, so Roy was quite curious.

By the way, Carl’s griffin is named “Greywind,” and Robert’s is “Blaze.” Both are recorded in the annals of history along with their masters’ deeds.

Charlotte’s expression was somewhat complex.

The young princess straightened her face, pointed over, and warned, “When I tell you, you’re not allowed to laugh.”

Roy shrugged, “I wouldn’t be so rude.”

“…Cake.”

“What?” Roy didn’t catch that.

“This guy is called Cake!” Charlotte blurted out in resignation.

At that, Roy’s lips twitched uncontrollably.

Good grief, such a casual name!

And Cake himself was none the wiser, letting out a proud roar.

To be fair, with its golden-red fur, it did resemble a strawberry cake when curled up.

“Quite, quite a good name,” Roy said, covering his mouth in praise.

“I was young then, just blurted it out—who would have thought he’d take to the name! Hey, you promised not to laugh!”

“Ha… cough! I just remembered something funny.”

Imagine the historical records: everyone’s griffins named “Greywind” or “Blaze,” and then there’s one called “Cake”!

Thinking about it, Roy’s lips twitched again, angering the girl who pinched him hard on the waist, almost bringing tears to Roy’s eyes. In the end, after Roy explained his train of thought, even Charlotte couldn’t help but chuckle at “Cake.”

“Ow?”

Cake didn’t understand what had happened, feeling somehow insulted.

After such frolic, both had put the awkward moment behind them.

Charlotte mounted the saddle on Cake with a slight lift of her beautiful brows and extended her hand generously to Roy.

“Let’s go, I’ll take you hunting!”
