As a Symbiote in Marvel multiverse

Chapter 23: Changing the canon

**Earth-10005, 1983**

**Jean's room, Xavier's school for gifted**

**Moments Before Peter Gained Immunity**

Inside Jean's room, Peter's avatar materialized from her body. His presence stirred her awake. Half-asleep, Jean blinked at him in confusion.

"Mmm... what's wrong?" Jean mumbled and is still half-asleep with her red hair tousled against the pillow.

Peter sat next to her on the edge of the bed as she lay cocooned in her blanket. Gently, he placed a hand on her shoulder and spoke in a serious tone.

"Jean, listen carefully. This may be shock you a little, I've gained new power," he began. "I took some biomass from Darwin, and I've acquired his reactive adaptation ability."

Jean's eyes widened and the haze of sleep vanished instantly. She sat up straight as her blanket slipping off her shoulders.

"Wait—what?" she stammered. "You took biomass? You mean you can gain other people's powers that way?"

Peter raised a hand to stop her questions before she could ask more. "I already sent one of my avatars to test it. I'm working to gain immunity to my weaknesses, but since you're bonded to me now, you might feel some of the effects. It could hurt you a bit. I wanted to warn you in advance."

Jean's mouth opened in astonishment. "Wait a second. You can gain powers by consuming biomass? I thought you could only gain abilities from those you bond with!"

Peter nodded and sighed. "There's more to my abilities than you initially knew. It's better if I just show you."

With that, Peter placed a hand on her temple and transferred a detailed explanation of his powers directly into her mind. He didn't share all of his powers but most of them.

Jean gasped as the torrent of information flooded her consciousness.

"Reactive adaptation...biomass consumption…" she murmured as she pieced it together. Her shock deepened. "You can adapt to anything now. This makes you potentially...immortal."

Peter smirked slightly but didn't respond. Instead, he focused on locking the information in her mind with a powerful mind lock and encrypted all the information in her mind, ensuring no other telepath could access it.

Jean who is still reeling from the revelations asked cautiously, "What's happening right now? You said I might feel pain—what's going on?"

Peter stood up and paced briefly before answering. "I'm about gain immunity to heat and sound. You might feel some discomfort because of our bond, but it shouldn't last long."

Before Jean could say anything, a wave of searing heat coursed through her body. She flinched and started gripping her blanket tightly with her face contorted in pain.

Peter quickly knelt beside her, taking her hand in his own as he too felt the effects.

A second later, the pain vanished. Jean blinked in surprise while breathing heavily.

"That wasn't so bad," she admitted though her voice trembled slightly.

Peter's expression grew serious. "The sound will be worse. Much worse." He bagan bracing himself.

Jean immediately tensed. "Sound?"

Moments later, an excruciating pain hit them both. Jean cried out, but Peter quickly pulled her into his arms and covered her mouth with his hand, muffling her scream. He held her tightly as the agony tore through their shared bond.

It felt like an eternity, but finally, the pain began to fade. Peter slowly released his grip and removed his hand from her mouth. Jean's body trembled, her face is pale and tears leaked from the corners of her eyes as she clutched at his shirt.

"Don't...don't do that again," she whispered shakily. "I don't care if it's for immunity. I don't want you to suffer like this."

What she didn't know is that the pain Peter felt is more than what she felt.

Peter cupped her face, wiping her tears and had a soft smile on his face. "It's done now," he reassured her. "My main weaknesses are gone. I can finally relax...at least for a little while."

Jean managed a small, tired smile. "You mean no more excuses to wake me up in the middle of the night?"

Peter chuckled and sat with her, talking softly about their plans tomorrow and sharing lighthearted moments until she began to drift off. He carefully tucked her back under the blanket, brushing a stray strand of hair from her face.

"Goodnight, Jean," he whispered before turning into a black slime like form and entered her body.

**Earth-66, 2012**

A few hours earlier, Peter and Gwen sat on the sofa side by side, facing eachother in Peter's house. Gwen listened intently as Peter explained the general details of Earth-10005. The concept of mutants and their unique powers fascinated her and she was full of questions.

"So, there's a whole school for people with abilities?" she asked leaned forward a little.

Peter nodded. "Yeah, Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. It's run by Professor Charles Xavier. Mutants are essentially people who gain powers through a genetic mutation."

Before Gwen could ask more, Peter took a deep breath and interrupted her train of thought. "Gwen... there's something I need to tell you," he said in serious tone.

Gwen immediately sensed where this conversation was heading. She raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms. "Let me guess—it's about bonding, isn't it?"

Peter sighed. "Yeah. Since I'm in another universe, I need to bond with people to maintain my avatar. If I don't—"

Gwen narrowed her eyes playfully. "And let me guess again... this person you wanted to bond with is a girl, isn't she?"

Peter nodded while looking slightly guilty. "Yes."

For a moment, Gwen studied his face silently but then sighed herself. "Alright," she said shrugging her shoulders.

Peter blinked in surprised. "Wait, that's it? You're okay with it?"

Gwen smirked. "What did you expect? Me throwing a tantrum?"

"Well, yeah, a little," Peter admitted.

Gwen laughed softly and shook her head. "I'm not that petty, Peter. I know how you feel about me—our soul bond makes it impossible for you to hide it. I can feel your love and your devotion. You adore me and no matter what happens, I know that won't change."

She moved closer to him and placed her hand gently on his chest, right over his heart. Her gaze softened as she looked into his eyes. "Even if you sometimes try to hide things or lie to me, I can't help but love you anyway, Peter."

Peter was speechless. He didn't know how to respond, so he pulled her into a hug, holding her tightly. "I love you, Gwen," he murmured.

"I know," she replied softly as her arms began to wrap around him.

After a quiet, heartfelt moment together, they decided to eat dinner, a pizza Peter stored in his dimension. When it was time for Gwen to leave, Peter escorted her home.

Her mother, Helen, greeted them at Gwen's house door with a teasing smile.

"Well, don't you two look cozy," Helen teased, causing Gwen to blush but tried to hide it.

Peter chuckled and said his goodbyes before heading back to his house.

Later that night, as Gwen got ready for bed, Peter materialized from her body, sitting on her bed as her clothes shifted into comfortable nightwear. He patted the bed beside him while giving her a playful look.

Gwen shook her head but smiled, sliding into bed next to him. They cuddled and talked about small things—her day, his plans, and random thoughts—before finally falling asleep.

However, Peter couldn't stop his mind from wandering. Something had been nagging at him about the time difference between the two worlds.

"Great Sage," he called out silently. "Calculate the time differential between Earth-66 and Earth-10005."

> Calculating....

> Calculation complete.

>One day on Earth-66 equals two days on Earth-10005.

Peter frowned at the revelation. "So, time flows faster in the other world," he muttered.

He made a mental note to keep track of the time difference more carefully, then let the thought go as he slowly drifted off to sleep beside Gwen, feeling her warmth and steady heartbeat.

**Spider Society, Control Room**

The holographic displays bathed the control room in an eerie blue glow as Miguel, Layla, and Jessica gathered around the central console.

Miguel O'Hara stood with a grim expression. Lyla's holographic form floated beside him with her hands casually on her hips, while Jessica Drew silently observed the display in front of them.

They were focused on a particular world in the Spider-Verse—Earth-10005.

Jessica had just returned from a mission and recounted her experience. "It's gone," she said firmly. "Earth-10005 is completely inaccessible to us now."

Miguel's jaw tightened in frustration. "What do you mean, gone? That doesn't happen. There's always a way to access a world in the Spider-Verse if there's a spider man in it."

Jessica crossed her arms. "Not this time. Even though Peter is there and since he's bonded with Gwen that should have made it accessible. But it's not registering him as Spider-Man in that world."

Lyla floated over to Miguel with her fingers began dancing across the holographic interface. "Maybe it's because Peter isn't technically from Earth-10005. His connection to Gwen ties him back to her home world, Earth-66. As far as the Spider-Verse is concerned, he hasn't left her world."

Miguel frowned. "Then explain why we're losing access to Earth-66's canon too."

At his command, Lyla pulled up the holographic data of Earth-66's canon events. What they saw left them stunned.

The once-fixed canon of Earth-66—Gwen's timeline, marked by tragedy and loss—was shifting. The tragic events meant to shape her life were unraveling and being replaced by... something else.

The images on the display showed Gwen and Peter together, their interactions and happy life disrupted the usual flow of canon. Instead of despair, there was hope. Instead of loss, there was love.

Events that were supposed to lead to heartbreak and loss were being rewritten, replaced by new possibilities.

Lyla whistled while shaking her holographic head. "Isn't he something? The moment Peter formed a true bond with her, her canon started changing."

Miguel slammed his hand on the console with frustration. "The canon isn't supposed to change. That's the whole point. It's what holds the Spider-Verse together."

Jessica who is still watching the data unfold, finally broke her silence. "And yet it's happening. He's rewriting her story, Miguel."

"The question is," Miguel continued in grave tone, "what does this mean for the stability of the multiverse? One spider's canon being rewritten is remarkable enough, but if others learn it's possible..." He lowered his head thinking about that.

"They might try to change their own destinies," Jessica finished. "The whole system could unravel."

Miguel lifted his head slowly with his eyes narrowing as he focused on Gwen's timeline. "Peter's bond with Gwen is altering the foundation of her canon. He's changing everything. He's rewriting her entire story. Whether that's a good thing or a disaster waiting to happen... only time will tell."

As the holographic data shifted, it revealed a future event that hadn't been part of Gwen's canon before.

There, in the projection, was an image of Peter and Gwen standing side by side, both of them are smiling warmly. Gwen cradled a baby in her arms, while Peter's hand rested protectively on her shoulder.

For a moment, silence filled the control room as all three stared at the image.

Lyla broke the quiet with her usual sass. "Well, isn't that just the cutest canon-breaking family portrait you've ever seen?"

She looked the image of the happy couple with a smile, "Maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing. Look at them – who are we to say this isn't how it should be?"

"We're the ones who have to maintain order across the multiverse," Miguel reminded her, but his voice lacked its usual conviction. "Still... I've never seen a canon change create such a... positive outcome." His mind racing with the implications of what they'd just witnessed.

The Spider-Verse was built on the foundation of fixed events, yet Peter was proving that the unchangeable could, in fact, be rewritten.

Jessica finally spoke again, "Whether we like it or not, Peter's bond with Gwen is reshaping her life. Maybe the Spider-Verse isn't as rigid as we thought."

Miguel clenched his fists but said nothing. The picture of Peter, Gwen, and their baby lingered on the screen—a symbol of hope for some, and a potential threat to the Spider-Verse for others.
