As a Symbiote in Marvel multiverse

Chapter 13: The Spider-Society

The portal opened into the training room of Earth-928, and the trio of Miguel, Gwen, and Peter stepped through.

The room buzzed with energy, a symphony of advanced technology and movement from several Spider-People sparring, training, and discussing missions.

Peter immediately began observing his surroundings, his enhanced senses picking up the numerous devices capable of emitting high-frequency sounds - a natural weakness for symbiotes like himself.

He knew coming here was risky, but the potential benefits outweighed the dangers. With so many versions of Spider-Man present, he could potentially copy their abilities for his own use.

Moreover, he planned to study symbiote biology to develop a serum that could eliminate their traditional weaknesses.

Though he was a symbiote, he remained independent from the hive mind, maintaining his own will. However, this also left him vulnerable to telepaths - another weakness he needed to address.

For that he needed equipment and technology far behind the one in his home world.

Sure, he can travel across the multiverse and gain some technologies for the development of the serum but that will take too much time.

Instead it will be easier to gain the trust of Miguel or few Spidermans here. After that he can use the technology and knowledge from different spiderman in different universes to remove his natural weakness.

He made a mental note to find time to work on reducing these vulnerabilities, even though it had only been three days since his arrival in this universe, trouble seems to be coming in his way.

He sighed as Gwen also finished her own assessment of the room.

"This room is filled with devices that produce high-frequency sounds," Gwen communicated telepathically to Peter. "This guy knows about your weakness. What's the plan?"

Peter just smiled to her comment much to Gwen's annoyance.

"Welcome to the Spider-Society," Miguel announced, then turned to Lyla. "Would you do the honors?"

Lyla's hologram expanded, creating a vast projection around them. "The multiverse is like a web," she began, as countless glowing strands appeared, interconnecting various spherical worlds. "Each universe exists simultaneously, some may be parallel to one another, yet separate."

"This is all of us," Miguel said as the hologram of spheres are connected in a way that looked like a spider web.

"All of us are connected through the beautiful web of life and destiny,"

"The Spider-verse, huh" Peter said as he and Gwen looked at the web like structures that are connected through out the multiverse.

"It sounds stupid, it is called Arachnid-Humanoid poly Multiverse." Miguel said as he looked at Peter.

"That sounds more stupid than Spider-verse." Peter said as Lyla continued.

Peter and Gwen watched as the glowing strands zoomed in, showcasing worlds teeming with Spider-People.

"In most dimensions, there exists a Spider-Person - usually Peter Parker, but sometimes others, like Gwen Stacy." The image shifted to show different versions of Spider-Heroes across various universes.

"The Spider-Society monitors these universes, maintaining their balance and preventing catastrophic anomalies that could threaten the multiverse, anomalies—beings or events that shouldn't exist—can disrupt this balance." Lyla continued, as the projection showed the society's headquarters with its numerous Spider-People working together.

Miguel interjected, as the projection shifted to show dark, corrupted sections of the multiverse, "when something or someone exists where they shouldn't, it creates instabilities. These anomalies can tear the fabric of reality itself."

The hologram demonstrated the effect, showing how anomalies could cause universes to collapse in on themselves, creating chain reactions across the multiverse.

"That's why we need to address this situation," Miguel concluded as Lyla's projection faded. "The presence of a symbiote-bonded Peter Parker in a universe where he shouldn't exist poses a significant risk to the stability of not just your world, but potentially the entire multiverse."

Peter maintained his calm demeanor throughout the explanation, while Gwen's expression grew increasingly concerned. The stakes were higher than either of them had initially realized.

"But after seeing you, I have realized you are not bonded with the symbiote - you've became a symbiote yourself, didn't you?" Miguel asked as the surrounding devices began to power up.

Peter's calm expression didn't falter, though his mind raced. 'So, they've figured it out. Let's see what they plan to do about it.'

That's when Gwen stepped forward. "But he hasn't done anything wrong! It's not his fault the symbiote merged with him. He is also a victim here."

Miguel sighed heavily as his patience is clearly wearing thin. "It's not about whose fault it is. The symbiote doesn't just merge—it changes the personality of the person it bonds with. And in this case, it didn't just change him. It transformed him, turning him into one of the symbiote. He's not the Peter Parker you know anymore. Can you risk the multiverse to protect someone who may not even be the same person?"

Gwen turned to Peter, searching his face. He met her gaze, calm and had some curiosity.

Her eyes held resolve as she answered, "He may have changed and may not be the Peter I know, but I will still protect him because it's the right thing to do. It's what Spider-Man - or Spider-Woman - would do."

Miguel's expression darkened. "That's disappointing."

Suddenly, Gwen and Peter's spider-sense rang as all the high-frequency devices activated, causing them intense pain.

Peter staggered and clutched his head. The pain was like nothing he'd felt before, cutting through his very essence. Gwen, too, cried out, her spider-sense blaring in alarm as the sound waves assaulted them.

Miguel moved quickly. He fired a device at Gwen, striking her with a powerful electric shock. She screamed as the symbiote inside her began to peel away from her body.

Inside Peter's mind, the voice of the Great Sage rang out.

> Warning: The bonding with host Gwen Stacy is being removed forcefully.

The black symbiote extracted from Gwen immediately merged with Peter, who was on his knees.

Gwen lost consciousness and collapsed on the floor.

Miguel threw another device near Peter, creating a transparent energy prison around him. The high-frequency devices powered down, leaving the room in tense silence. Peter struggled to lift his head and looked at Miguel with exhaustion in his eyes.

"You are the most dangerous being I've ever encountered," Miguel stated coldly. "This is for the betterment of the multiverse. Nothing personal."

Many Spider-people that are training came here after the activation of the devices and surrounded them. But they all watched when everything happened.

Peter's consciousness faded as darkness overtook him.

Miguel stood in silence, gazing at the unconscious bodies of Gwen and Peter. He exhaled sharply, rubbing the bridge of his nose.

"Lyla, send Gwen back to her home dimension." he ordered curtly and began to walk away.

Lyla then appeared beside his shoulder but her hologram is flickering briefly. "Is this really the right move, Miguel?" she asked hesitantly.

Miguel stopped in his steps, his voice heavy with past regrets. "I've already caused the end of one world. I don't want to cause the fall of another." He began to walk away as Lyla sighed, her holographic form looking down at Gwen's unconscious body.

The other Spider-People dispersed as well, muttering among themselves, some glancing back at the scene before heading off to their respective tasks.

But one figure lingered.

Jessica Drew, her crimson-and-black suit catching the dim light, stood silently. Her gaze remained fixed on Gwen's motionless form.

Lyla reappeared infront of Jessica, her tone exasperated. "Jessica, you heard him. Leave this to me. I'll handle it."

Jessica shook her head "No. I'll take care of her."

Lyla hesitated for a moment, her holographic eyes narrowing. Then she sighed, "Fine. But you better not make me regret this." With a flicker, Lyla and the glowing prison containing Peter disappeared, leaving the room empty except for Jessica and Gwen.

Jessica knelt beside Gwen, gently lifting her into her arms. For a brief moment, she hesitated, glancing back toward the spot where Peter had been.

"He's not as dangerous as Miguel thinks," she whispered to herself.

Tapping her wristwatch, a swirling portal materialized before her. Without another word, Jessica stepped through, disappearing into the glowing vortex as it closed behind her, leaving the training room eerily silent once again.

A few moments later...

Peter groaned as he slowly regained consciousness. His hand instinctively went to his head, massaging his temples. The pain was gone, but the memory of it lingered.

"I didn't think I was this weak to high-frequency sounds," Peter muttered under his breath. "In the movies, symbiotes could hold on even after being blasted apart or separated from their host... but me? I was that close to dying."

Seeking answers, he turned to his most trusted companion. "Sage, any idea about this matter?"

Great Sage's calm, analytical voice resonated in his mind:

> "While I lack direct data for comparison between your physiology and other symbiotes, I have developed a theory. The hive mind of symbiotes provides them with mental resilience, even when their physical form suffers damage. However, you are not connected to the hive mind of Klyntar or its dimension. You are an independent symbiote with no external support. This unique individuality makes your mental and physical defenses more vulnerable."

Peter sighed, nodding slightly. "That actually makes sense. So I'm basically flying solo—great. What do we need for better analysis?"

> "Acquiring and analyzing samples from other symbiotes would provide additional data. This could potentially lead to adaptations or the creation of countermeasures."

Peter filed that away for later and turned his attention to his surroundings. The transparent glowing walls of the energy prison surrounded him, the hum of its power faint but omnipresent. It was identical to the containment cells he had seen in Across the Spider-Verse movie.

He then began to test his powers but quickly realized something troubling. Most of his abilities are sealed...

He surveyed the room beyond his prison. Dozens of other cells, each holding a variety of creatures and villains that lined the area. Many of these prisoners were alternate versions of Spider-Man's greatest foes.

A smirk crept onto Peter's face. "Well, at least one thing is going according to plan."

Peter had never been foolish enough to trust Miguel or walk blindly into the Spider-Society. Before he left Gwen's home world, he had secretly detached a small piece of his symbiote form, leaving it behind as an insurance policy.

If something happened to this body, he can transfer his consciousness to that part he detached.

While copying the abilities of Spider-Men here was part of his plan, it was not his primary goal. His real aim lay within this very prison—the villains.

"Spider-Society, huh?" Peter chuckled darkly. "You brought me to the buffet."

He gazed hungrily at the various cells. If he could consume these alternate versions of villains, their unique abilities would become his. He wasn't just aiming to survive; he intended to become unstoppable.

"I'll make Miguel regret bringing me here," Peter muttered as his eyes are gleaming with malice.

First, though, he needed to escape. He approached the shimmering wall of his energy prison, hesitating only briefly before extending a hand toward it.

"Sage, any chance I can break out of this thing?"

> "The structure uses a high-energy barrier to neutralize organic matter. However, after using Predator ability on it, I can decode its energy signature and dismantle it. Estimated time: five seconds."

Peter's smirk grew into a full-blown sinister grin. "Perfect."

His laughter echoed softly in the chamber, low and menacing. "Everything's falling into place. Miguel, you should've left me alone but I thank you for this opportunity to increase my strength."

Miguel was right about one thing—the symbiote didn't just grant power; it changed those it bonded with.

In his previous life as Mark, Peter had been simple. He hadn't wanted much—just a comfortable life, free from trouble or strife. But now... now he felt different.

His desires were growing. His goals were expanding. A hunger burned within him—not just to survive, but to gain more power.

Was this change for the better? Or was he becoming something far worse than he ever intended to be?

Only time would tell.
