Chapter 10: Lunatic Obanai
Jashin's POV
Three years have passed since I got kidnapped by Kokushibo. Now, I'm ten years old. At first, this demonic academy felt like heaven.
No capitalist pigs breathing down my neck, free expensive food served three times a day, and a chance to make some friends? It was like a dream come true.
But now? This place feels less like heaven and more like hell, if I'm being honest. Douma makes me and my classmates train like maniacs.
Every single day, we have to run 10 kilometers without a break, swing a sword in seven different patterns a thousand times each, and scarf down our meals in five minutes flat. Miss any of that? Boom—no food for a week.
Oh, and did I mention Douma's unique take on "extracurricular activities"? He teaches us how to torture people. One of his classic methods?
"Take a glass jar, toss in some mice, glue the jar to your enemy's face, and heat the bottom of the jar so the mice have no choice but to chew their way through the poor bastard's face."
Pretty hardcore, right? Not gonna lie, when Douma gave us a live demonstration, I was the lucky one who got to heat the bottom of the jar.
It was... disturbingly cool.
But even with all that crazy training and torture lessons, you know what the hardest part of this place is?
...
...
...
Studying. Freaking. Books.
Yeah, you heard me. Books. Like, I get why they're teaching us sword fighting and martial arts—that's useful. But economy? History?
Why do I need to know when Emperor Ching Chong Ping Pong of China croaked? Or why Douma's history book has a guy named Hitler marked as "Pookie"?
Okay, fine. I kind of get the economics part. It's Plan B in case Plan A—getting into the Demon Slayer Corps—fails.
If that happens, we're supposed to start businesses and fund those who do make it into the Corps when they need cash.
And then there's the whole mission thing. Apparently, when you hit 13 or 14—I'm not sure which—you're assigned a mission along with a team.
If you pull it off, you're given the chance to become a demon.
Honestly, I'm not a fan of the whole "no walking in sunlight" deal. But if it makes me immortal? Count me in, son of a bitch!
Well, I can't really say I want to kill people, but I can't exactly say I don't want to kill people either.
I've just... changed since those days living with those capitalist pigs. Now, I couldn't care less about the lives of people who aren't related to me or aren't useful to me.
And yeah, I definitely don't care about anyone else more than I care about my own life.
Take Obanai, for example. He's my friend. I care about him now, sure. But let's say I had to make a choice—die to save him, or live by killing him.
I'd kill him. No hesitation, no regret. I wouldn't even shed a tear.
...Okay, okay, maybe one or two. He is my only homie in this godforsaken place, after all.
But you get the point—I don't really care about anyone else anymore. Which, honestly, is kind of weird when I think about it.
Oh, and get this—my eyes? They've changed color. I only noticed it about a year ago, and I still don't have a clue what caused it or what the hell it even means. Freaking annoying, right?
...
...
Alright, I'm getting sleepy now. I'll finish telling you the rest of this messed-up story tomorrow morning.
Third Person POV
And with that, Jashin flopped onto his bed, letting his thoughts drift as he recalled everything that had happened to him over the past three years.
Morning.
Though it was technically morning, Jashin's room was cloaked in dim light, illuminated only by the weak, flickering glow of a single yellow bulb hanging from the ceiling.
The academy itself was sealed under a barrier, cutting it off from sunlight entirely and leaving everything bathed in an eerie, perpetual twilight.
Jashin groaned as his eyes cracked open, his body still sluggish and weighed down by the remnants of sleep.
He let out a long, exaggerated yawn as he stretched his arms overhead, the satisfying crack of his joints echoing in the stillness of the room.
"HMMMMMMMMMMMM... AHHHH... huuu…" he exhaled, the sound somewhere between a growl and a sigh.
His face wore the perfect sleepy expression—half-lidded eyes and a slight pout—but he fought the urge to flop back into bed.
Why? Because he had no intention of starving for an entire week again just because he was late to Douma's class.
Once was enough. Never again.
The memory alone made his stomach churn. Obanai had dragged him into that fiasco, convincing him that they had to investigate the girls' toilet because—according to Obanai—the girls were secretly planning a revolt against the demons.
What they found instead? A group of girls who were… well, not planning a revolution. Let's just say it was an awkward situation all around.
{They were masturbating}
Naturally, both he and Obanai had been punished. No food for an entire week. It wasn't something Jashin was eager to repeat.
With a resigned sigh, Jashin swung his legs off the bed and shuffled to his uniform—a sleek, jet-black ensemble accented with golden trim.
Unlike the traditional Japanese kimonos worn by some, this uniform had a distinctly western flair: sharp lines, a high collar, and an almost military design.
As he fastened the last button, a loud, frantic voice rang out from the other side of his door.
"Jashin! Jashin! Are you awake?!"
Before he could even respond, the door burst open with a bang, nearly flying off its hinges.
Standing there, wild-eyed and full of energy, was none other than Obanai.
"I'm telling you, those bastards from Class Hantengu are planning to revolt against us! Hurry up and follow me!"
Obanai's tone was deadly serious, but Jashin could only stare, still groggy from sleep and now regretting every life decision that had tied him to this lunatic.

Just a heads-up—future chapters are going to get pretty heavy with gore and other intense stuff. So, if that's not your thing, no hard feelings, but please don't drop a bad review over it later.
Also, sorry for the two-day delay in uploads. I had a project file to complete, and it ended up taking more time than I expected.
Lastly, drop some comments to keep me motivated! The last chapter didn't get many, and your feedback really helps me keep the momentum going. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! 😊
