Chapter 12: Life has its ups and downs we call them squats



Over the next five days, Ren followed a strict and disciplined training routine, steadily improving his abilities. Each morning, he began with stretches and endurance running, pushing his limits as his stamina increased. In the afternoon, he focused entirely on chakra control, climbing trees with greater ease but still struggling to hold himself in place for extended periods. As evening approached, he headed to the library, expanding his knowledge on history, tactics, and shinobi fundamentals, which contributed to his rapidly growing Intelligence stat. Returning home at night, he continued chakra training, reinforcing his control before studying the scroll on human anatomy and combat points that Juichi had given him.

 Ren quickly realized the true advantage of his high Intelligence stat when he started reading Juichi's scroll on the human body and vital points. He memorized the entire scroll in just two days. His recall was extremely sharp—he could write it down word-for-word without a single mistake. He could analyze and understand new concepts faster than before.

One day, Juichi taught him hand signs, and Ren instantly memorized them all with perfect recall. Since practicing hand seals didn't require full-body movement, Ren started incorporating hand sign drills while walking or whenever he had free time.

One morning, after returning from his run, Ren sat down for breakfast when a system message appeared.

Curious, he opened his status screen to check his overall progress

Ren could now fully climb the tree without slipping. However, holding his position for a long time was still difficult. He continued practicing to improve endurance and control.

When Ren returned home that morning, he noticed his father wasn't home.

On the table, a small note was left behind:

[I'm starting work today. Had to leave early. Train hard.]

Ren nodded to himself. "Figures. Dad's finally back to work."

With Juichi occupied, that meant Ren would have more time to train alone but even if he was alone his training would remain the same only their sparring time would be absent.

Observing his stats, Ren noticed that while his Strength had only increased by one point, he wasn't particularly worried. He recalled Juichi's words—that he would introduce the next phase of training once Ren could complete three laps around Konoha in three hours.

Today, he had finally accomplished that.

Not only had he managed to complete three full laps within the time limit, but he still had some energy left, so instead of walking home, he jogged the entire way back.

Satisfied with his progress, Ren continued with his usual routine—chakra training in the afternoon, library research in the evening, and hand-seal practice at night.

By the time night fell, Juichi returned home, carrying some takeout for dinner. The two sat down to eat, and Ren wasted no time.

"So, what's next? I completed the three laps today."

Juichi, expecting this, gave him a knowing smirk. "Figured you would."

Finishing his meal, he leaned back, thinking for a moment before speaking.

"Alright, listen up. Now that your endurance is solid, it's time to focus on building functional strength. You don't need weights yet—just increase the intensity of your bodyweight exercises."

Ren nodded, paying full attention.

Bodyweight Training (Twice a day—morning and evening.) Do push-ups, squats, sit-ups, and pull-ups till you can't. Maintain perfect form to maximize strength gains.

Explosive Strength Drills (Improve fast-twitch muscles.) Sprinting up steep slopes to develop leg power. Jump squats and burpees to improve lower-body explosiveness. Striking a hanging log or training post to develop arm strength.

Core & Stability Work (A strong core = better overall strength.) Plank holds to develop midsection endurance. Hanging leg raises to strengthen lower abdominal muscles. Balance training to improve movement coordination.

Endurance Strength Training (Building power for extended fights.) Practicing deep stances like the horse stance to strengthen leg endurance. Repeated strikes on a tree or training dummy to build arm endurance. Practicing shadowboxing and footwork to maintain strength while moving.

Hearing all this, Ren grinned, feeling excited about the new challenge.

"So basically, train like a madman until my body adapts?"

Juichi laughed. "Pretty much. But don't overdo it. Your body's still growing, so gradual progression is key."

Ren nodded, determined. He finally had a structured plan to build his strength, and with his system's guidance, he could track his progress efficiently.

With his next stage of training set, he went to bed and planned his schedule.

Lying down on his bed, Ren thought about his training plan, carefully building a mental timetable to maximize his progress while ensuring proper rest and recovery.

After considering his current strengths, weaknesses, and goals, he settled on the following daily schedule:

📌 8:00 AM – 1-Hour Rest & Energy Recovery (Eat, hydrate, and regain strength.)

Ren nodded to himself, satisfied with the balance between physical training, chakra control, recovery, and study.

"This should push my growth while keeping me from burning out. Strength, speed, endurance, chakra—all covered."

With his plan finalized, he closed his eyes, knowing that tomorrow would mark the beginning of his true full-scale training.

Waking up before dawn, Ren immediately followed his schedule, starting with morning stretches to loosen his muscles before heading out for his three-hour endurance run.

After finishing his run and taking an hour to recover, he moved on to strength training, focusing on bodyweight exercises and core training to build functional strength.

 He began with normal push-ups, increasing the count gradually till he finally reached 80 to strengthen his arms and chest.He then started Squats after a brief rest focusing on deep squats, making sure to maintain proper form to develop lower-body power. Pull-ups were next strengthening his upper body and grip, ensuring his arms and shoulders could handle the strain.

When he was done he started Core Training and Explosive Drills sprinting up a steep incline and practicing quick directional changes to improve combat movement speed and Combat Conditioning by striking a hanging log repeatedly, building arm endurance and muscle control for faster, stronger punches.

By the time he was finishing up his session, a system notification rang in his mind.

Ren froze for a moment, then grinned.

"Finally! I reached Level 10!"

Even though his average level was technically around 13, the system based his level on all attributes, not just one.

Still, reaching Genin level before even entering the Academy was a huge accomplishment.

"There are probably only a handful of geniuses at my age who've reached this level."

And now, he had two Genin-level attribute points to spend.

Even better—he had unlocked a new ability, [Observe Panel], which allowed him to analyze the levels of targets up to 20 levels above him.

Seeing the two available Genin-level attribute points, Ren didn't hesitate for a second—he immediately allocated both into Chakra.

"This will help."

With higher chakra reserves, he would be able to sustain longer training sessions, perform jutsu more effectively, and eventually, learn techniques like the Shadow Clone Jutsu.

Satisfied with his decision, Ren continued with his scheduled training for the day.

A/n: I know this chapter was shorter but i just wanted to show his training method and him reaching level 10. The next chapter would be a timeskip till academy and don't worry he won't be reaching jonin level by then I'll explain different levels soon, the observe function was for that and it would be just showing name and level and 'not' stats. I'm introducing system functions one by one as his strength increases so he won't have too many abilities that he doesn't even use.
