Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Steven O’Steven, How Could You Sink So Low

Steven had considered that the method of obtaining these so-called "World Acknowledgement Points" might be somewhat peculiar. However, what he didn't expect was that he would obtain this thing for the first time just by patting someone on the head.

Turning to look at Gladiia, who had an expression of enjoyment on her face because of his head-patting, Steven now felt like she was a mobile point-generating machine.

In his previous world, Minecraft, sustainable development like this usually required automated production lines.

However, Steven hadn't reached the point where he needed to hang people on lampposts just yet.

The girl's tall figure didn't lose out even when standing next to Steven, who was 1.8 meters tall himself. Her current innocent and cute expression, along with her strange yet cool clothing, created a contrasting charm that made Steven inexplicably proud.

The current situation didn't seem too bad, did it?

"But forget it, using a clueless girl with amnesia as a tool is a bit too embarrassing."

With some regret, Steven gave up on the idea of keeping things as they were and using her to earn World Acknowledgement Point.

Using a beautiful girl like her was enjoyable, but it wouldn't be fun if he treated her as a tool for some ulterior motive.

He had to figure out a way to cure her first.

Checking the items he had brought with him from the previous world, Steven sighed in disappointment.

His second transmigration had come without any warning.

At least when he transmigrated to Minecraft, there was a reason for it—the damn mud truck that out of nowhere hit him in the back.

But this time, he had just been preparing to trade some Emeralds and gain some experience with the big-nosed villagers that he had trapped in his backyard, and the next moment, he found himself in the middle of the ocean at an altitude of ten thousand meters.

Aside from a few stacks of gold ingots for trading and some steak and milk for daily consumption, Steven didn't even have basic armor equipped. His weapon was just a Netherite Sword used for dealing with that annoying Villager who dared to trade one potato for twenty emeralds.

"No healing potions, but even if I had them, I'm not sure they would heal amnesia. I do have a bucket of milk, but can that really help with amnesia? I only have this one bucket, so I should use it sparingly."

Talking to himself, pondering how to treat the girl's amnesia, Steven couldn't help but feel nostalgic for his omnipotent creative mode.

If he could use items from mods, he had at least ten thousand ways to cure her. Unfortunately, he couldn't use a single one right now.

He didn't want to be kicked out of this world so soon.

"So, does this mean that all I can do right now is pat heads to earn points?"

While expressing his resistance to this situation, Steven's hand didn't stop. He continued to gently stroke the girl's silky white hair, as if he were petting a cute kitten.

Although this "kitten" was a bit on the large side, who could refuse a beautiful girl?

[Ding, World Acknowledgement Point +1, +1, +1—]

"Umm, Steven, O'Steven, how could you sink so low?"

Self-deprecating, but Steven's lips involuntarily curled up.

Just ten more pats, and then he'll have thirty points.

As for the girl, Gladiia seemed to really enjoy Steven's head-patting. Her face, which was excessively fair, displayed a happy smile. She looked like a girl receiving encouragement from her father.

Before losing her memory, this girl probably lacked paternal love.

Steven made this assumption while also considering where he should go next to earn some World Acknowledgement Points and how he could cure the girl in front of him.

Unfortunately, before he could achieve the achievement of patting her head ten times, a group of figures emerged from the sea in front of him, interrupting his actions.

Because of the moonlight, the seawater appeared somewhat dim. A foul smell of fermented seafood wafted in with the waves. Along with it, a group of creatures that Steven couldn't find words to describe also appeared.

Using the term "ugly" to describe them would be too monotonous.

To be honest, they looked more like creatures created by a bizarre combination of fish heads, body parts, and mollusk-like bodies.

In any case, based on their appearance, Steven found it hard to imagine what kind of abstract creator would come up with such beings.

[The Endspeaker, Will of We Many]

These creatures with strange names were obviously not just there to disgust Steven after coming ashore.

From the moment they emerged from the sea, they had been surrounding Steven's location.

"Hey, can you guys stay a bit farther away? Your scent is really hard to tolerate. You live in the sea, can't you clean up more often?"

Looking at these approaching monsters, Steven's face showed no sign of being disturbed.

The reason he had been waiting here after coming ashore was not just to have fun with the girl. It was to meet these guys who had been following him since he fell.

Finding out who was tracking him was important to Steven. He didn't want to constantly have a group of tails behind him.

However, based on their current appearance and attitude, this matter might not be as easy to resolve as he had thought.

It wasn't that Steven judged people by their appearance, but these creatures looked quite abstract. In addition, the bloodthirsty look in their eyes made it impossible to deceive anyone.

However, what surprised Steven was that after he made his sarcastic comment, these monsters actually stopped their approach.

After some restless and anxious howling, one of the larger monsters, obviously stronger in stature, stepped forward.

"Why... Speak…. Us?"

Although it was a series of low, harsh roars, Steven could easily understand the meaning behind them.

However, he could only scratch his ear and put on an expression of not knowing how to explain.

He couldn't say he had installed the language localization Mod, right? Whether it was him speaking or their language, it was all turned into something that he can understand due to his system, right?

Perhaps becoming a translator in the future would be a promising career.

Without waiting for Steven's answer, the monster seemed even more puzzled. But perhaps because it understood that Steven could communicate, it didn't immediately launch an attack.

"Return… our kin…. and return to….. the sea…. together."

Lifting what appeared to be an octopus-like tentacle, the monster pointed with its still-dripping, sticky limb toward the girl standing next to Steven.

"Oh, so you're not here for me? I knew it. I'm just a newcomer. How could I be targeted so soon?"

Looking in the direction the monster was pointing, Steven's expression seemed to confirm what he thought.

He had felt it earlier. The girl beside him had been swimming as if she were escaping from something.

It seemed that these creatures were the culprits.

"Well then, what if I refuse?"

Noticing the girl's instinctive disgust and resistance towards the monsters beside her, Steven couldn't possibly believe their claim of being of the same species.

Seriously, could a beautiful girl and these monsters be of the same species?

"Resistance….. futile... You will become... nourishment for... our growth."

"So, that means there's no room for negotiation?"

Steven surveyed the monsters who had almost filled the entire beach in front of him.

"You should have said so from the very beginning. I'm more familiar with killing mobs en masse than negotiating with them."

With a somewhat relieved expression, Steven reached into his backpack and pulled out a dark purple-black longsword emitting an eerie glow.

He smiled at the approaching monsters.
