Chapter 68 Explosion! Let’s See Who Is the Real Bandit

The atmosphere in the livestream grew palpably tense. Viewers found their breathing quickening, eyes riveted to the unfolding drama on screen.

“Brother Hao, I’ll be taking them with me. Thanks,” Wang Yun said, rising to his feet and offering a smile to the middle-aged leader.

The leader nodded warmly in response.

“Bro, surely three minutes is enough time, right?”

“Haha, he did promise he’d be quick!”

Some of the younger and middle-aged men nearby chortled, sharing a moment of levity.

Wang Yun responded with a carefree smile, but internally, a nagging sense of anxiety tugged at him. He took a step forward, intent on swiftly escorting the mother and daughter to safety.

“What’s this?” The middle-aged man, who was engrossed in his mobile phone uttered a startled exclamation.

In an instant, his expression darkened, venomous fury directed at Wang Yun. Without hesitation, he reached for the handgun on the table.

“He’s no fugitive!” The man yelled, incensed. “Curse you and your kin!”

When Wang Yun saw the man’s alarmed outcry, his instincts snapped to high alert. His worst fears seemed to be manifesting.

A brief while ago, when Wang Yun noticed the man retrieving the mobile phone, his apprehension had spiked. With the massive viewership the Skynet Operation show commanded, anything happening on his side was bound to become an instant sensation online.

The instant the man accessed the phone, he could unearth the reality of the situation. Thus, Wang Yun had been desperate to swiftly extricate the mother and daughter. Fate, however, had other plans.

In that heart-stopping moment, Wang Yun’s expression was one of sheer dismay. Now, not only was his own life hanging by a thread, the lives of the family of four were also in peril. But in this dire moment, he had no choice but to think on his feet.

Like a cheetah unleashed, Wang Yun lunged into action, darting toward the exit. On his way, he kicked the phone as hard as he could.

Near the doorway, a thug leaned nonchalantly against the wall, observing the ruckus. He was momentarily stunned by Wang Yun’s sudden move, but deep-seated instincts kicked in, prompting him to intervene.

In that split second, Wang Yun’s veins bulged. He swiftly took out the concealed scalpel, slashing it across the young thug’s neck. His attack was swift, ruthless, and pinpoint accurate. Blood sprayed out as if time itself had slowed.

With dexterity, Wang Yun swiftly grabbed the handgun from the fallen body. He flung the now lifeless dealer behind him and darted toward the exit. His speed was almost supernatural.

Cold sweat formed on his forehead. He had killed, even if the victim was a thug.

“Production team, I’ve killed someone,” he whispered urgently as he raced out.

“Good kill. They are drug dealers. We’ll wipe them out,” a voice rang out. “Young man, if you make it out alive, our Yun Province Narcotics Division will owe you big.”

“Brother Wang Yun, get out of there! If you manage to escape, the Nancheng Bureau will personally recruit you, granting you a second-class merit.”

As Wang Yun’s words faded, responses from two voices echoed from the tech chip embedded in his clothing, reaching every viewer’s ears. The audience was left in shock. Everything happened in mere moments.

In the span of a few seconds, Wang Yun had been discovered, he had made a desperate escape, and in the process, had fatally taken down a thug with his razor-sharp scalpel. Everyone knew of this scalpel; it was Wang Yun’s tool of choice for thieving. Now, it had turned into a deadly weapon. The audience had just witnessed a dealer being executed in a heartbeat.

“I can’t believe it… Big Brother’s cover is blown!”

“Big Brother just took out a dealer in an instant! Such terrifying speed!”

“Big Brother is incredibly powerful, but now that he’s been discovered, he needs to run fast!”

“Our brave officers have spoken. These drug-peddling thugs must be stopped at all costs.”

“Damn, Big Brother, wipe them out! Finish them off!”

After their initial shock, viewers passionately pounded on their keyboards, roaring in support. These criminals deserved death. Yet, simultaneously, a vast majority of viewers expressed deep concern for Wang Yun.

He had managed to take down one out of fifteen drug dealers, leaving fourteen more. Danger lurked everywhere.

Caught off guard by the sudden outcry from his underling and Wang Yun’s unexpected retaliation, the middle-aged leader stared, bewildered. But upon seeing one of his men killed, rage contorted his face.

“Damn it all! Kill him, kill him now.” Grabbing the submachine gun beside him, he shouted.

“That man is from the ‘Skynet Operation’ program, he’s broadcasting us live,” The stressed middle-aged man bellowed, “We’ve been exposed, and the gun he wields is a fake.”

Having spotted the trending news online, he had seen images of them all, and it left him somewhat stunned. Their adversary was a ‘fugitive’, a role enacted by a participant from the show.

“Kill him!”

A murderous glint appeared in the eyes of the other thugs. They fired indiscriminately into the corridor.

The sound of gunfire turned Wang Yun’s complexion ashen. He dashed into his room, gasping for air, the weight of the situation pressing down on him. He had never been in such danger before.

“Get out fast! They’re armed, you can’t face them all. Your life is paramount.”

“Move, now! Civilians can’t be harmed. Hurry!”

“We’re just ten minutes away. Hang on, and get out! We’re en route.”

Warnings and voices dripping with concern from the police resonated from the tech chip.

Wang Yun leaned against the wall, listening to the sounds outside, and couldn’t help but ask, “If I run, what about the hostages?”

His voice had barely faded when a sigh of resignation echoed from the tech chip, “Focus on escaping first. We’ll handle the four hostages.” The officer’s voice, dripping with frustration, continued. “They have guns, you don’t. Fourteen of them, one of you.”

It was soon followed by a vehement vow, “In ten minutes, I’ll ensure every one of those bastards is down.”

“But I do have a gun,” Wang Yun retorted, brandishing the handgun he held. It was authentic. He’d seized it from a thug. As for the initial two guns he’d gotten, they’d been taken back by the pair of youngsters.

One firearm, seven bullets. Now armed, Wang Yun was determined to try his luck. If he didn’t, the family of four might meet a tragic end.

“Ding. System alert: Demonstrate to these thugs who the true bandit is. Task reward: at least one god-level ability.”

As the system’s voice resonated, a smirk spread across Wang Yun’s face. Without a second thought, he indulged himself, further splurging his shock value points.

“Buy God-tier Hearing!”

His ears twitched in response. A mental image materialized, showcasing a dozen figures charging toward him. Without hesitation, Wang Yun reached out, discharging two rounds.

Screams of agony filled the air instantly.

“Damn, he’s armed! Watch out!”

“Hua Zi! Xiao Shan!”

“Who the hell claimed his gun was a fake?”

Anguished voices resounded in the hallway, accompanied by a hail of bullets.

“Today, I’ll show you the real definition of a bandit,” Wang Yun bellowed, ensuring every criminal heard him.

“Bandit? Meet your end!”

The drug dealers’ faces contorted with shock upon hearing Wang Yun. As they witnessed their colleagues injured, the middle-aged leader’s face grew chillingly dark.

He retrieved something from his pocket, launching it straight into Wang Yun’s room.

“Damn!”

Wang Yun’s eyes widened in alarm as he saw the object tumble in. He might never have encountered a real grenade, but films had made him well-acquainted with them. Without hesitation, he dove through the window to the ground floor.

A thunderous explosion resonated, propelling Wang Yun from the second floor. He deftly performed a mid-air flip, capitalizing on the blast’s momentum to land safely. His god-level parkour skills had never been more invaluable.

“Shit, was that a grenade? These goons actually have grenades!”

“What the hell did big bro just pull off? And where did he get a gun?”

“He must’ve swiped it from those thugs. Given his prowess, that would’ve been a piece of cake.”

“He’s so quick on his feet. Big bro directly challenged those thugs, even fired back. But those thugs are next-level, having grenades and all. They’re downright terrifying!”

“It’s a good thing Big Brother is physically adept with top-notch parkour abilities. Anyone else might’ve been obliterated.”

The livestream’s audience was in sheer disbelief as they witnessed Wang Yun retaliate. When they saw the thugs unleash a grenade, their expressions were filled with shock.

Wasn’t this supposed to be a staged show? Wasn’t this just Wang Yun’s livestream, where he impersonated a fugitive? Now they were witnessing real gunfights and even grenade explosions. This was sheer insanity.

“Big Brother, get out of there! They’re insanely aggressive!”

As the grenade detonated, millions of viewers, unable to contain their astonishment, flooded the stream with comments.

“They’re equipped with grenades? Unbelievable.”

A cold determination settled in Wang Yun’s gaze. Taking a deep breath, he formulated a plan rapidly.

“Commander, I’m going in. I’m taking them down,” he declared resolutely to the tech chip.

Without missing a beat, he dashed forward. Today, Wang Yun intended to teach these lowlifes who the authentic, peerless bandit truly was.
