Chapter 40 A Daring Challenge, A Direct Confrontation, The Duel Begins
Sent by the fugitive Wang Yun? The moment the staff member’s words left his lips, the room froze in shock, and the livestream audience was equally stunned.
“What does this mean? What’s going on?”
“???”
“Is this for real? Wang Yun, a fugitive, actually sent something to Captain Zhang Xingchen through a courier? Is this some kind of joke? This is insane!”
“Unbelievable! A fugitive sending something to a chief inspector? This is madness!”
“Hahaha, it really was sent by Wang Yun. I came back from his livestream just to see the look of confusion on Zhang Xingchen’s face.”
The livestream, which had been reasonably calm while praising Captain Hong Feng, instantly erupted into chaos. The viewers were flabbergasted ass bullet comments flew all over again.
Wang Yun was a fugitive. Zhang Xingchen was a chief inspector. Even though Zhang Xingchen had faced setbacks against Wang Yun three times already, was this level of audacity necessary? To send something directly to the chief inspector via courier? Was this some kind of insult?
Zhang Xingchen let out a sigh. His expression subtly shifted as he heard the staff member’s words. He rose to his feet, his face stern.
“What is it? Show me.”
“It’s a notebook with a single sentence written inside,” the staff member replied, walking over and handing it to Zhang Xingchen.
Upon opening the notebook and seeing the written words, Zhang Xingchen’s fist clenched instantly. His face flushed with a mix of shame and fury.
He felt humiliated. He felt enraged beyond measure.
Gripping the notebook tightly, his face flushed, Zhang Xingchen growled softly, “He’s far too arrogant.”
“What does the notebook say?” Shen Hao, noticing Zhang Xingchen’s angry demeanor, couldn’t help but ask.
The other captains turned their gaze toward him as well.
Taking a deep breath, Zhang Xingchen replied, “He says he’ll be at Nansu Plaza tomorrow to give me a surprise.”
“A surprise at Nansu Plaza tomorrow? Is he serious? How brazen,” Liu Qingqing gasped in astonishment.
***
“Holy crap, are you serious? What does this mean? Is he directly challenging Captain Zhang Xingchen?”
“666! Unbelievable! He’s openly declaring that he’ll be committing a crime at Nansu Plaza tomorrow.”
“This is just too arrogant. He’s openly challenging Zhang Xingchen and telling him to expect a surprise at Nansu Plaza. It’s as if he’s daring him, ‘Come catch me if you can, tomorrow!’”
“Unbelievable, really unbelievable! Wang Yun is a lawless madman. He’s pretty much slapping Zhang Xingchen in the face, announcing that he’ll commit a crime tomorrow and daring him to catch him.”
“Talk about a slap in the face, this is the epitome of it!”
Upon hearing this, the entire audience was left open-mouthed, their faces a mask of shock.
A fugitive openly declared that he was planning to commit a crime, daring law enforcement to capture him. It was nothing short of a brazen challenge and a display of utter disdain.
This was unprecedented on the Skynet Operation Program.
Wang Yun was as audacious as those legendary renegades and outlaws.
Arrogant as it might be, it had the audience on the edge of their seats. This fugitive was making quite an impact.

“Wang Yun is audacious, but this level of audacity is beyond what I expected. From his escape yesterday, it’s clear that he’s calm, calculated, and highly intelligent. Yet, he’s openly provoking us. Either he’s trying to distract Captain Zhang with a red herring or he’s supremely confident and challenging Captain Xingchen,” Hong Feng offered his insight, slightly furrowing his brows.
“I lean more toward the latter. To be blunt, Wang Yun is deliberately taunting, disregarding Captain Zhang Xingchen entirely. He believes that Captain Zhang can’t catch him. He has a swaggering personality and thrives on the challenge, even relishing the thrill of humiliating his opponents,” Leng Ming added.
Hearing the analyses from Hong Feng and Leng Ming, Zhang Xingchen drew a deep breath and once again clenched his fists tightly.
His facial expressions shifted, eventually settling into calmness as he asked the staff, “Did you ask the courier where Wang Yun had him deliver this?”
“Yes, we did. He delivered it from Nansu Plaza,” the staff member replied.
“Attention, all personnel. Immediately search the surveillance footage around Nansu Plaza. Wang Yun has been spotted there,” Zhang Xingchen announced, suppressing the rising anger within him.
This was the moment to transform his fury into resolve.
The final showdown.
He wanted to prove to everyone that he, Zhang Xingchen, was not a pushover, and certainly not weak.
“Really? Captain, you’ve located Wang Yun? You’re truly impressive. I’m confident we’ll catch him soon,” a voice from one of the officers chimed in over the speakers.
Zhang Xingchen was taken aback. His face flushed red in an instant.
‘Impressive? The guy’s practically slapping me in the face, challenging me. He even sent a message essentially telling me not to run away after school and meet him at the playground for a fight.’
The audience watching the live broadcast also heard the officer’s comment, bursting into laughter. Some were laughing so hard they nearly had an ‘accident.’
