The Matter of Freya VII
"It can't be that exaggerated right?" Loki asked, seeming like she was on the verge of losing her mind.
"Millions of vallis come in every day. I quite literally can't spend enough to stop the increase. And before you ask, I have already offered to sponsor the familia, you simply refused." Nox casually replied.
Loki could only gape in silence as Finn glared at her with disappointment.
The pallum mentally apologized to Nox for previously thinking of him as a miser unwilling to help out his familia monetarily as he had plenty of leeway. As it turned out, it was Loki who had refused his good intentions despite Nox actually offering.
Of course, it wasn't like Finn did not understand Loki's choice. Taking money from one of you familia members, money in which you provided no assistance in earning, it was an act that would invoke distaste in others.
Barring more controversial familias like the Soma Familia which was filled with extortion, corruption and backstabbing, most familias would look down on such actions like taking money of a member when you played no part in earning.
In fact, Hephaestus, Miach and Dian Cecht had made quite a profit by taking a small cut of Nox's profits in exchange for handling distribution of his wares for him but as the Loki Familia had no part in procurement of materials, crafting of the wares, or even their distribution, the red haired goddess truly felt unable to take Nox's money.
Still, now that she had learned how exaggerated his earning actually were, to the point that casually sending a couple hundred million vallis the familia's way every so often would not even put the slightest dent in his fortune, Loki was beginning to feel the regret hit.
*sigh*
"We can discuss the matter of monetary support after our guests leave. For now, I'd like to finish that matter first." Nox said with a sigh, getting an agreement from Finn and Loki and making Horn and Ottar glad that things would be getting back on track again.
"If you prefer a percentage of the raw spoils rather than the earnings, that is fine by us." Horn said in response to Nox's earlier request.
"Good." Nox replied.
"But to make sure no tricks are played. I've put some safeguards in this contract as I've said before." He added before beginning his explanation of what said safeguards were exactly.
"First, there is a clause in there to make sure your people actually put effort into your dives into the dungeon, rather than just play it easy take the opportunity for a vacation to screw me over." Nox started.
Though neither of the guests appeared to appreciate the way he put things and the distrust he showed, they simply had no choice other than to accept it. After all, they needed him and the previous attitude of their familia had not exactly inspired trust from Nox either.
"Second, there is another clause detailing the loot situation so that your people cannot intentionally leave loot behind or give it to other non familia associates so as to understate their earnings."
"Third, all of the top members of your familia, meaning Level 5 and above must sign this contract, otherwise there is no deal." Nox concluded his explanation
Horn frowned.
"Can't you come with us and we will get the signatures while you're there to save time. Every second counts." She pleaded.
"No. And if every second counts, you'll have no trouble connecting signatures. I'll leave a device you can use to communicate with me so you can tell me when you have them and I'll immediately head to Folkvangr. It won't even take a minute for me to arrive." Nox responded.
Ottar and Horn both sensed Nox would not budge on the matter and, despite the latter feeling quite unsatisfied, once again, neither of them could really blame him for his caution.
Even Horn herself doubted she would be willing to lend help to the Freya Familia were she in Nox's current position so she had no choice other than to swallow her unjustified dissatisfaction.
Both guests quickly left the Twilight Manor to call for and gather the other top members of their familia and "convince" them to give their signatures, one way or another.
For the Loki Familia however, another discussion would follow.
"That matter is taken care of, no need for further discussion since the rest is between me and them alone." Nox cut off any further discussion and, while Finn and Loki were not exactly happy about it, they chose to respect his decision.
"Since that is the case, shall we discuss the matter of financial backing since we are already together anyway?" Finn suggested.
"I need to have a word with Riveria first but we can all discuss that right after wards. It should take long." Nox replied.
Finn found it a bit suspicious that Nox needed to talk to Riveria privately, specially since all of them were under a magical contract not to reveal anything about what occurred in the room but he decided to to pursue it for now.
Loki was fine with doing things that way and so, Gareth came into the room so that Finn, Loki and him could discuss the financial matters before speaking to Nox while Nox left the room to speak privately with Riveria.
"Alright then, let's hear what our esteemed guest from the Freya Familia wanted shall we." Riveria spoke.
With a snap of his fingers, Nox erased the effects of the contract Ottar and Horn brought, making him free to spill whatever he pleased.
"It's like this . . ."
