Chapter 13: 13- Study
(LN- Wanted to drop by and mention that I've rewritten the past few chapters, undoing the time skip. Sorry if you're caught off guard, but you might need to back track two chapters to make sure you're not caught off guard. Anyway, I hope y'all have a good read and I'll post again soon!)
(3rd Pov)
Nyx sat down in his recently expanded room down under The Last Drop. With the gold rolling in from working on Hextech, he was able to give Vander a very large donation to not only fix up the place like it's brand new, but to expand the building as well as the living area underneath.
That allowed all the kids to have a room all to themselves, other than Powder and Vi who agreed to share a slightly bigger room, to have their own space to call their own. It was the best luxury one could get in Zaun.
Currently, Nyx was going back to reread the journal his father, Ivar had left for him.
Sigh… Opening the front cover, Nyx kept his emotions in check as he read the journal again, but he could swear that he could hear Ivar's voice again.you
-Hello, Nyx. If you're reading this, that means both me and your mother passed long before we could give you your training. I sincerely hope that that future never comes to be, but even still I must write this. My son will not be left in the dark to craze at what he has become.-
Nyx wiped a tear that threatened to drop onto the page, and risk ruining the words.
-I've left this journal in trusted hands. Vander is the most dependable man that I've ever met in my life, and even Fenny agrees. Anyway, it's high time that you learn of your heritage. We, the Ulvr Clan, come from high up in the mountains of the Freljord, being one of their exclusive Vastraya people. We settled in the caves and cliffs and permafrosted woods, hunting prey in packs.-
-When one of us is born, they are done so as a normal human. This is so the magic in their blood doesn't cause damage to their fairly fragile bodies. There is a spell grafted to our bloodline that slowly awakens our bloodline as we grow into adulthood, awakening our wolves. At first, they will manifest themselves as uncontrollable emotions or impulsive actions. As you mature and your hair grows paler, the wolf will become more tame, but you must not give in to their will.-
-If you give in, you will never be sane again.-
-When the roots of your hair are completely white, you'll start having flashes of anger when stressed. An Instinctual reaction from the wolf cub in your soul. The next stage is when you start feeling more powerful, soon after that you'll be able to transform small parts of your body into that of your wolf, gaining claws and fangs. And when you fully mature, you'll have the ability to transform into either a full hybrid, or the form of a Dire Wolf.-
-Now that you know that, throw most of it out of your head until you have children. I am the first born child of the chieftain, and that makes me the chieftain, and now that will make you the chieftain. And that means that you will inherit the wolf of our founder: Fenrir, the Wolf of Destruction.-
Nyx had to pause when he read that again, pondering on what it meant.
'It means I'm old and wise, you fuckhead.' A gravelly voice said in his head.
"Huh? Who said that?!"
'...' No one answered.
After a while of waiting and asking the air to speak again, Nyx reluctantly returned to the journal.
-Fenny will make you much stronger than you can ever imagine, but he will also make you a target. Many big nations like Noxus covet the fur of Fenny, and will kill you to get it. Not before breeding you, that is. That is why our family was in Zaun- to seek refuge. I know that some of us are still hiding out in the mountains, waiting to come out of hiding. I hope that one day, when you are strong enough, you can find our people, and bring us together again.-
-I don't know how long it's been since the last time I've said this to you, but I love you Nyx. And it was never our intention to leave you alone in this shit hole, but I know my son. And that means I know you will already have stepped up to protect your people.-
-You're special like that. You never lose hope. Never lose that light, kid, and you'll go places you could have never dreamed of.-
-One last time. I love you, Nyx. Never forget that.-
—
It took Nhx a while to calm himself down after that. He hadn't gotten much of a childhood with his father, him always having been gone at the mines or working with Vander, but that didn't mean he didn't love his father.
Sigh
'If you're in there, Fenny, wake up. Cuz we've got a fight ahead of us: Life. But I suppose you'd know better than me.'
Shaking his head from those thoughts, Nyx decided that he'd distract himself by learning magic. Sitting in a comfortable position, he started focusing on his breathing. For a very long time, Nyx sat there in the middle of his room silently, slowly falling into a trance-like state.
After what seemed like both hours and seconds, he felt something resting in his chest. It…was like a ball of yarn. There were thick strings and little strings, and although he couldn't see them, he could tell that they had colors. It was like his lack of experience prevented him from differentiating between different elements.
Not one to be deterred that easily, Nyx tried to latch onto the smallest thread he could see, one of the loose ends floating around the core. While he managed to do that, he now had nowhere to lead the energy to.
That was until he noticed a smaller clear orb floating next to the yarn ball, which he was going to refer to as The Arcane Core, or Core from now on. As he noticed it, his core started following his vision, following his thoughts until he managed to lead it to be in front of him, even though he had no body.
'Weird.'
Plugging the thread into the orb, Nyx felt a jolt of energy shoot up and down his spine, following newly discovered veins all throughout his body like his nervous system.
Opening his eyes, he felt like he was full of infinite energy, but that notion didn't last long, just until his own core was filled up.
"...Haha! I have magic!"
