Chapter 10: 10-Grief
(3rd Pov)
(P.S. I've slightly changed this area, but that's because this is an AU and I felt like it. The important parts hadn't been changed in the slightest though)
Later that night, seven people could be seen trudging through an old sewage system, not that it had been used in ages. It had been so long in fact that there was no residual smell and strange glowing growths covered nearly the entire walls.
These people were obviously Nyx, Violet, Powder, Ekko, Mylo, Claggor, and Vander, who was carrying a wrapped up body despite his injuries. He had said, "I don't care. His death is on my hands, so I will carry my friend to his final home."
Knowing where Vi and Powder got their stubbornness from, they all let him. Though they stayed close incase he collapsed from exhaustion. Nyx could smell the blood seeping from his bandages aswell. Luckily, they were already at their destination.
Walking through an opening in the pipe, the group was met with the scene of a massive cavern. It was shaped like a cylinder with tall walls that reached up to a cracked ceiling that allowed sunlight to shine down onto a massive tree sitting to the left of the entrance. To the right, was a sizeable lake full of clean water that flowed directly from an underground stream that originated from the canal.
Additionally, there were fireflies all over the place, adding to the ares's beauty. Unfortunately, it didn't give to the group besides a feeling of approval. Benzo would like this place.
Leading them up to the tree, Nyx let go of Vi's hand and readied the shovel he had brought, beginning the work of digging up a grave for his friend.

Claggor joined in, followed soon after by Mylo and Vander. Soon enough, everyone but Powder was digging, but that was obky because there wasn't anymore shovels.
Coming prepared, the blue-haired girl opened her bag and brought out a bunch of paint that she had shoved in there. Using her hands, she began to paint while the rest dug the grave facing the lake.
Two hours later, the grave was finished, covered gently with fresh soil. But they weren't resting yet.
Powder in that time had finished Benzo's mural, making it the centerpiece, but everyone started paining other figures. Violet painted her parents with the help of Powder, Vander was gently painting his wife's image, Nyx was doing his best to remember his own parents faces though the situation was helping him remember. Everyone was quietly painting someone that they had lost in the rebellion, making the tree their grave even if they didn't have one.
Now, no one would forget them.
...
Stepping back from the mural, the group sat down near Benzo's grave and enjoyed the silence.
At somepoint, Mylo collected firewood from fallen branches and started a small fire, over which they started telling stories.
"Haha! He even had the audacity to say he didn't hear me, when he had the best hearing in The Lanes!" Ekko laughed, sharing a story about Benzo.
Vander shook his head, laughing as well. "Yeah, that bastard had selective hearing, I swear."
"This one time I wanted to borrow one of his hammers, and Benzo told me he didn't even have one. How do you have a repair shop if you don't even have a hammer!?" Nyx smiled.
"Mom used to do this thing where she'd pretend to be a monster and chase us around the house. One time when Dad came home early, he joined in and started chasing all three of us." Vi chuckeled to herself, remembering the fond memory.
Powder nodded tiredly. "I still remember the song she would sing to us, but I can't ever remember the lyrics..."
"Neither can I, sis. But I still sing it sometimes." Vi told her, before turning to Nyx. "What about your parents? Did they chase you around like monsters too?"
Nyx smiled, shaking his head. "No, they'd sing to me. I can't remember most of them, but they always told me they were traditional songs from our family."
...
"What do you plan to do now, Nyx?" Vander broke the brief silence.
Thinking for a moment while everyone looked for his answer, bar Ekko who was sitting off next to Benzo's grave, he came up with a decent plan. "I'm still gonna help people out, but I think that plan starts sooner rather than later."
Vi frowned. "What do you mean?"
Nyx smiled at her. "Well, I'm gonna doubletime the Stilies."
Vander raised an eyebrow, his Dad senses tingling. "Care to explain?"
"I'm gonna start bringing people here. Form a group, have them take care of eachother. And when we're all settled, we're gonna start supply raids."
Vander raised an eyebrow, but he was confused. 'I'm not feeling as judgemental as I usually would.'
"You want to start a rebellion." He said.
"More than that. I was telling the truth when I said I wanted the undercity to band together. If we have to steal to do that? Well at least we have experience."
Vi nodded her head, resolute. "I'm in. I owe a debt, and helping my people is the best way to pay it off. But I don't think I ever will..." She muttered the last bit under her breath, only for Nyx to hear her.
"So am I." Ekko appeared out of nowhere, plopping down next to Powder.
Vander, noticing the trend, smiled wryly. "If you're all doing this, you'll need some guidance, so I guess I have to join as well. Might feel good to get back at the topsiders again for once."
"What are we gonna call ourselves then?" Powder was exited at the thought of being in a secret organization.
Looking around, Nyx remembered who's base this was the home of in the show. "How about the Firelights?"
Shaking his head, Vander chuckled. "The light in the tunnels huh?"
Nyx smirked. "You got a better idea?"
"No. I think it fits perfectly." He smiled, before looking over at the memorial. "But I think we've got a lot of work ahead of us from now on."
Vi stood up, exited to start doing something. "Well, why don't we get a head start?"
"I was thinking the same." Mylo smirked, elbowing Claggor in his side.
Standing up, Nyx smiled at them all. "Well, let's get started shall we?"
"""Yeah!"""
