Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Into the Serpent’s Den
The discovery of Seraphine Crowe's betrayal had shaken the alliance, but it also sharpened their resolve. Kai knew that to win this war, they couldn't remain reactive—they had to take the fight to Voldemort. The system's quest to infiltrate a Death Eater stronghold offered the perfect opportunity to gain critical intelligence and shift the tides in their favor.
---
The Plan
The Room of Requirement was packed as Kai laid out his strategy. On the table before him was a map of Britain, with key Death Eater strongholds marked in red.
"Our target is a Death Eater safe house near Knockturn Alley," Kai began. "It's heavily warded, but if the information my system provided is accurate, it's where they're coordinating their next major assault."
Hermione frowned, studying the map. "Breaking into a place like that is suicide. The wards alone would take hours to dismantle, and that's assuming no one notices us."
"That's why we're not dismantling anything," Kai said with a grin. "We're going in quietly—disguised as Death Eaters. Once inside, we extract the information and get out before anyone realizes what's happening."
"Polyjuice Potion," Theo guessed.
Kai nodded. "Exactly. I've already identified three Death Eaters who won't be missed for a few hours. We'll take their places."
Harry crossed his arms. "And what happens if we're discovered? Voldemort isn't exactly known for his mercy."
Kai met his gaze evenly. "That's why I'm only taking two people with me. This is a high-risk mission, and I won't drag everyone into it."
"I'm going," Daphne said immediately, her tone leaving no room for argument.
Harry stepped forward. "And so am I. Voldemort wants me dead more than anyone—it's time I start returning the favor."
Kai hesitated, but seeing the determination in their faces, he relented. "Alright. The three of us will handle the infiltration. Hermione, Theo, and Fleur, you'll coordinate from here. If we're not back in three hours, assume the worst."

The Infiltration
Under the cover of darkness, Kai, Daphne, and Harry made their way to the outskirts of Knockturn Alley. Using the Polyjuice Potion, they transformed into the captured Death Eaters: Mulciber, Selwyn, and Alecto Carrow.
Kai flexed his hands, adjusting to the unfamiliar weight of Mulciber's form. "Remember, act natural. These people are paranoid, and they'll notice anything out of the ordinary."
Daphne, now Selwyn, smirked. "Relax, Thornwood. I've been dealing with pure-blood politics my whole life. Pretending to be an arrogant Death Eater won't be a stretch."
Harry, transformed into Alecto, scowled. "Let's just get this over with."
They approached the safe house, a crumbling building hidden behind layers of enchantments. The wards shimmered briefly as they passed through, recognizing the magical signatures of the Death Eaters they were impersonating.
Inside, the air was thick with the smell of damp stone and the low murmur of voices. Death Eaters clustered around a long table, poring over maps and documents. At the head of the table stood a familiar figure: Bellatrix Lestrange.
Kai's heart sank. Bellatrix was one of Voldemort's most loyal followers—and one of his most dangerous. If anyone could sniff out their deception, it was her.

Blending In
Kai gestured for Daphne and Harry to follow his lead. They moved to an unoccupied corner, pretending to study a map. Every nerve in Kai's body was on edge as he activated [Enhanced Perception], his system highlighting key points of interest in the room.
[Point of Interest: Secured Document Chest. Contains high-priority plans and correspondence.]
The chest was near the table where Bellatrix stood, its lock glowing with dark magic. Extracting the contents without being noticed would be nearly impossible.
"We'll need a distraction," Kai murmured under his breath.
Daphne's lips curved into a sly smile. "Leave that to me."
Before Kai could stop her, Daphne strode confidently toward the table. "Bellatrix," she said, her voice dripping with disdain, "we need to discuss your... unique interpretation of the Dark Lord's orders."
Bellatrix's eyes narrowed. "What are you insinuating, Selwyn?"
Daphne smirked. "Only that your little detour in the last mission cost us valuable resources. The Dark Lord will not be pleased."
As Bellatrix bristled and launched into a venomous tirade, Kai seized the opportunity. Using [Phantom Touch], a spell that allowed him to manipulate objects from a distance, he unlocked the chest and retrieved the documents within.
Harry, standing guard near the door, caught Kai's eye and nodded. They were running out of time.

The Escape
Just as Kai secured the documents in his enchanted bag, a cold, serpentine voice echoed through the room.
"What is the meaning of this... commotion?"
Kai's blood ran cold. Voldemort.
The Dark Lord stepped into the room, his crimson eyes scanning the assembled Death Eaters. Daphne quickly fell silent, retreating back toward Kai and Harry.
Voldemort's gaze lingered on them, his expression unreadable. "Mulciber, Selwyn, Carrow—you seem... uneasy. Do you have something to report?"
Kai's mind raced. "We were just discussing strategy, my Lord," he said, bowing low. "Ensuring that we are prepared for your next command."
Voldemort's eyes narrowed. "Is that so?"
Before Kai could respond, his system flared a warning: [Danger Level: Critical. Suggest Immediate Evacuation.]
Kai whispered the activation word for [Shadow Veil], a spell that cloaked them in darkness. "Now!" he hissed.
The three of them bolted for the exit as chaos erupted. Voldemort's voice rose in fury, and curses flew through the air.
"Get them!" Bellatrix screamed.
Kai activated [Aether Step], teleporting short distances to avoid incoming spells. Daphne and Harry followed, their wands flashing as they deflected curses.
As they reached the edge of the wards, Harry turned and cast Expulso, creating an explosion that sent debris flying and bought them a few precious seconds.

The Aftermath
Back at the Room of Requirement, the trio collapsed, breathless but alive. Hermione rushed forward, her eyes wide with relief. "You're back! Did you get it?"
Kai pulled the documents from his bag, spreading them on the table. "We did. And it was worth it."
The plans revealed Voldemort's next move: an all-out assault on Hogwarts during the winter solstice, using a forgotten network of underground tunnels to bypass the wards.
Harry's jaw tightened. "He's coming for us."
Kai met his gaze, determination burning in his eyes. "Then we'll be ready."
