Chapter 96: Taking Down the Xiacheng Base

Ye Zian had failed to extract any information about Taro Honda from these individuals' memories. However, they were not innocent bystanders; they had secretly provided substantial manpower to Su Chen to attack his fortress.

Since that was the case, killing them was a straightforward solution, reducing the unnecessary complications in his takeover of Xiacheng Base.

After all, the ordinary people at Xiacheng Base were merely victims of exploitation. Ye Zian planned to have these survivors continue farming, smelting iron, and even raising livestock for him.

Ye Zian's voice trailed off as he absently wiped the Soul-Eater Knife in his hand, shifting his gaze toward the beautiful city lord, Wang Yunshan.

Just as his words fell, the sky suddenly darkened.

Ye Zian had sensed through his psychic connection that his fortress had arrived above Xiacheng Base, casting a shadow over the entire area.

Tens of thousands of residents emerged from their homes in the residential area, awestruck, staring at the massive fortress that spanned nearly a kilometer, floating above them like a city in the sky.

This was not something that could be created by human hands; it could easily destroy Xiacheng Base if it were to fall.

At the foot of the mountain, Anna charged into the ranks of the armed personnel with two golden hammers in hand.

Swinging her dual hammers, she sent one unlucky guard flying, their bones shattering upon impact as they hit the ground.

Before most armed personnel could react, Anna and her team of ability users swiftly eliminated them.

Anna shouted, "Block off the entrance to Xiacheng Base completely! No one is to leave, and anyone who tries to break in will be executed on the spot!"

"Yes, Captain!"

Seeing the survivors waiting for entry examinations, Anna waved her hand, directing two team members to escort them up the mountain for inspection.

Although the survivors appeared reluctant, they had no choice but to comply under the watchful eyes of the armed team.

Zhao Wanrong, clad in her battle armor, descended from the fortress and sensed Ye Zian's position. A smile graced her face as she entered the conference room.

Upon seeing Ye Zian again after parting that morning, she bantered, "If I had known, I would have sent a large force to search this place right away."

Ye Zian paid no mind to Wang Yunshan's presence as he pulled Zhao Wanrong into an embrace. Their affectionate display left Wang Yunshan stunned, speechless.

Zhao Wanrong noticed the corpses strewn about and Wang Yunshan's dazed expression, realizing how frightened she must be by Ye Zian's ruthless methods.

But why had Ye Zian only left Wang Yunshan alive? Apart from her position as the lord of Xiacheng Base, Zhao Wanrong began to suspect the reason.

With a playful pout, she broke free from Ye Zian's embrace.

In that brief moment, Wang Yunshan sensed a surge of energy from dozens of ability users suddenly appearing within the Wang family villa. Even the most powerful figures in the Xiacheng Base could not possibly summon this many ability users.

Ye Zian, not wanting to alert anyone, stepped to the window and ordered the team leaders outside, "Each team, led by your respective captains, is to begin searching the residential areas of Xiacheng Base. Dig deep if necessary to find those individuals. Anyone who refuses or resists will be executed on the spot."

"Yes, City Lord!"

Upon receiving Ye Zian's command, Chen Ruoxue began to collect the bodies from the floor, bringing them to the residential area to intimidate the survivors.

Well-organized teams started entering the residential area, executing their missions in batches.

Chen Ruoxue addressed the assembled survivors with a commanding presence, "All residents of Xiacheng Base assemble in the open space! Those who disobey will be killed without mercy."

Afterward, she summoned the bodies of the ability users and leaders to be displayed in the square as a warning.

As the guards at the base prepared to resist, they were met with the half-head of Deputy Director Wang Yunshan rolling toward them, his eyes wide with shock.

Understanding this, they quickly gathered their families and moved toward the designated open area.

Chen Ruoxue nodded in satisfaction, seeing that the survivors were more compliant than expected.

She took charge of checking the crowd while Zhou Ruyan waved her hand, leading her sister Zhou Ruyun and several psychic ability users to search the residential area for any remaining hidden survivors.

Wang Yunshan's icy grip was broken by Zhao Wanrong, and as she gazed at the thousands of fully armed female warriors on the hillside, she realized she had lost all value and the opportunity to bargain with Ye Zian.

In just a few minutes, her fate had plummeted from the heights of power to the depths of despair; the once-mighty lord of Xiacheng Base was now a prisoner to Ye Zian.

Noticing her dazed expression, Ye Zian knew the timing was right.

With a slight smile, he said, "Sister Wanrong, I have some important matters to discuss with this city lord."

Zhao Wanrong shot Ye Zian an exasperated look. What could he possibly need to say that couldn't be said in front of her?

Nevertheless, she took the hint and led Lin Qianqian and Liu Qinghuan out of the conference room, casting a meaningful glance back at Wang Yunshan as she left.
