Chapter 58: Xiaodong Auto Repair
Chapter 58: Xiaodong Auto Repair
"What the hell are you talking about? Speak clearly," came a scolding voice over the walkie-talkie.
"It's true, really. There's a group of skeletons fighting the zombies outside. Whatever you do, don't make any noise," the man on the rooftop pressed his body close to the ground as he continued speaking.
"Skeletons? Where did the skeletons come from?"
"How should I know? These skeletons are much more ferocious than the zombies. If they find us, we're dead for sure," the man's voice trembled as he spoke.
There was a brief silence on the other end, followed by the voice asking, "Can we escape from our position? What's the safest way out?"
The man's eyes quickly scanned the area across from him, confirming again before he said, "Get to the rooftop, then head north. Don't make any noise, just retreat first."
"Got it."
.........
Water Supply Management Office.
Zombies poured out from all the alleys, rushing towards the skeletons' position.
Wu Heng led the skeletons into the courtyard of the Water Supply Management Office.
Backed by the building behind them, they engaged in combat with the oncoming zombies.
The skeletons wielded their weapons, slashing down the attacking zombies, chopping them into mush.
Similarly, some skeletons were knocked down by zombies, torn into pieces of white bones.
Bagdong, the big guy, and two high-level skeletons were also slaughtering, with zombies flying back with every punch and kick, crashing into other zombies.
Wu Heng held his staff, casting Witchcraft Arrow and Grease Spell at the right moments.
Enhancing his side's damage output.
However, he only cast the Grease Spell without igniting the grease.
With both sides mixed together, it was easy to end up burning his own side.

【Gained experience...】
As the battle continued, Wu Heng and the skeletons began to gain experience.
Both sides were also suffering increasing losses.
But the skeletons still outnumbered the zombies, maintaining a certain advantage.
Gradually, the number of zombies began to dwindle, and when Bagdong smashed the last zombie's head with a punch.
The courtyard of the Water Supply Management Office fell silent once more.
Over two hundred corpses lay on the ground, and Wu Heng had lost some skeletons as well.
But the losses were within acceptable limits.
He didn't immediately move forward.
Instead, he checked on the Skeleton Warrior that had reached Level 5.
This skeleton was the first one Wu Heng had summoned. While other skeletons had been replaced repeatedly, this one had lasted until now.
【Skeleton Warrior】
【Level: 5 (38/3000)】

【Traits: Hollow Skeleton, Basic Soul.】
After reaching Level 5, it had unlocked the trait 【Basic Soul】, and Perception, Intelligence, and Charisma had also appeared.
This meant that this skeleton now possessed a soul.
Wu Heng carefully observed it and saw a ghostly blue soul flame in its hollow eye sockets.
"From now on, you'll be called Spear One," Wu Heng casually named it.
With so many skeletons, naming them too complicatedly would make it hard for him to remember.
Categorizing them by their weapons made it easier to remember.
Spear One stood aside with its long spear in hand.
Wu Heng then turned to look at the Water Supply Management Office behind him, "Let's go, let's check it out."
Inside, there were only some desks, chairs, and scattered miscellaneous items, nothing too important.
In one of the rooms, there were large pieces of equipment that couldn't be moved.
There were no valuable findings.
"Uncle, I just saw someone escaping on the rooftop over there," Xiaoxiao said excitedly, floating down from the rooftop.
"People?"
"Yeah, two men."
"Let me see!"
Xiaoxiao merged into his body, and the scene she had just seen immediately appeared in Wu Heng's mind.
On the rooftop, two men were carefully moving northward, wearing leather jackets, with magazines taped around their arms, holding spears made of steel pipes.
They looked more like hunters heading out on a hunt.
Wu Heng focused on the spears.
Unlike the fruit knife tied with tape that Wu Heng used, these spears had metal tips, with the steel pipes and tips connected by screws.
They looked sturdier than what Wu Heng was using.
"There really are survivors." Wu Heng was somewhat surprised that these people had survived.
Xiaoxiao floated back out of his body and said, "See? There are people, right?"
Wu Heng nodded, thinking for a moment, then said, "Let's follow them to see their gathering place."
"Okay."
Xiaoxiao floated in the air, while Wu Heng commanded the skeletons to carry out the items inside and then followed in the direction the survivors had retreated.
.........
Xiaodong Auto Repair.
"Are you sure you didn't see wrong? Skeletons fighting zombies?"
The room, with its windows sealed shut, was somewhat stuffy, and the lightbulb emitted a dim glow.
A woman with bandages wrapped around her shoulder sat on the sofa, questioning the three people in front of her.
The three men looked troubled, and one of them said, "Yes, there were a lot of skeletons, and they were using weapons."
The woman's frown deepened, "Skeletons can stand up too?"
Zombies could be explained by a genetic virus, but skeletons standing up was entirely inexplicable.
At least, with the information they had, it was completely incomprehensible.
"Maybe... it's the resurgence of spiritual energy!" a slightly younger man suggested.
No one responded to this comment.
They didn't know how to respond.
One of the men thought for a moment and continued, "Actually, with these new groups of monsters, it might not be a bad thing. Let them fight the zombies while we hide in the shadows and scavenge supplies. Once we have enough, we'll leave this place and head to the gathering point."
Another man asked, "What if they find us first?"
"How could that happen? The place is crawling with zombies. There's no way they have time to deal with us."
"It's still a risk."
The woman on the sofa waved her hand, signaling them to shut up, and continued asking, "Could it be one of the superhumans mentioned on the broadcast, someone who can control skeletons?"
"I don't think so. I didn't see any humans, just some skeletons in leather armor," one of the men replied.
The woman said, "Alright, whether it's a new monster or a superhuman, it doesn't really matter to us. Once we finish gathering supplies and the train welding is done, we'll leave this cursed place."
"Got it!"
"Go rest for now, and be careful of the surroundings."
The three nodded and left the room.
The woman was left alone in the room, about to remove the bandages to change the dressing, when a nearly transparent figure phased through the wall.
The woman stared blankly, her face pale with terror.
"Are you the boss here? Uncle asked me to have a chat with you."
