Chapter 34: Chapter 34 – Haru
"Go to your house? Hmm… Forty minutes is far too short—not nearly enough time," Tatsuki said with a sly smile, his tone carrying an unmistakable implication.
That expression—Nami instantly understood his meaning.
Feigning disdain, she shot him a mocking look, as if daring him.
"Hmph, do you even have what it takes?"
"…"
There was no denying it—her challenge struck a nerve.
Before Nami could react, Tatsuki swept her off her feet and, in a flash, used his abilities to teleport them to her home.
Nojiko, who had just returned and barely settled in, was suddenly escorted out of the house by Tatsuki, her face full of confusion.
Realization quickly dawned on her.
…
Tatsuki soon returned to his own world.
Though still seated in his classroom, he exuded an unmistakable air of satisfaction, as if nothing had happened.
"Hm?"
Sitting behind him, Kato Megumi raised an eyebrow as she observed his back.
For some reason, she had the oddest feeling that Tatsuki had been daydreaming a moment ago, only to suddenly radiate a renewed sense of confidence.
…
After his exchange with Nami, Tatsuki's thoughts turned to someone else—Haru.
Thinking about Haru stirred a sense of melancholy in his heart.
During the early days of the apocalypse, when he first learned of the world's descent into chaos, Tatsuki had thrown himself into fighting off evil spirits and monsters.
Those were times when he was at his weakest, forced to dance on a knife's edge in countless life-or-death encounters.
And because of the apocalyptic knowledge he carried, there was no one he could confide in.
The relentless physical and mental pressure during those days had pushed him to the brink of collapse. His reason faltered, and he was consumed by despair.
That period of his life was his breaking point.
Everything changed the day he encountered a girl, whose name may not even have truly been Haru.
He had saved her from the clutches of a monster, and though their initial conversation was brief, it wasn't exactly pleasant—his mental state was far from stable at the time.
Yet, the girl seemed to have seen through his troubles and taken an interest in him.
She introduced herself as Haru.
After several encounters, she took the final step forward.
For the next half month, Haru became his solace.
She helped Tatsuki untangle the knots in his heart, easing the crushing mental and emotional strain he had been carrying.
Gradually, his state of collapse receded, and he returned to a semblance of normalcy.
But just as Tatsuki began to feel whole again, Haru disappeared without a word.
That period of turmoil remained vivid yet hazy in his mind.
Haru was someone he could never forget.
Without her, Tatsuki doubted he'd be the stable, grounded person he was today.
As for her whereabouts?
He had no clue.
All he could recall from his fragmented memories was her long black hair and radiant smile.
"Ah…"
He sighed inwardly, holding onto the faint hope that they'd meet again someday if fate allowed.
…
Shaking off his thoughts, Tatsuki opened the chat group, where the discussions were lively as ever.
[Apocalypse Chat Group]
Momonga: "It really feels like a game! You can draw abilities and upgrade skills!"
Shinobu Kocho: "The uses of Apocalypse Points are incredible. I checked, and my Insect Breathing is only a C-level ability. What kind of strength must those A-level or S-level abilities have?"
Tatsuki found that to be quite normal. Breathing Techniques weren't strong; in fact, they were rather weak.
They were merely techniques to enhance oxygen intake and improve blood circulation, without offering any direct, substantial boosts to the body.
Their classification as C-level abilities wasn't surprising at all.
March 7: "I don't know either! My Preservation Path is S-level, but it's only at level 3 and still feels so weak. Boo-hoo!"
Exusiai: "Haha! My Originium Arts are also C-level, but my A-level Firearm Creation is super powerful! So cool!"
Saeko Busujima: "All my abilities are B-level and at level 3. I feel pretty strong, though."
Aqua: "Hmph, my Water God Powers are SS-level!"
Tatsuki: "Stop showing off, you silly goddess."
Aqua: "You're the silly one, Tatsuki! Hmph!"
Tatsuki chuckled at the banter, the lively conversations bringing a sense of camaraderie to the group.
