Chapter 7: Guiding Fate

Alex's POV

Time Skip

It's been a month since I arrived in this world. In that time, I've kept a meticulous diary, where I've recorded all the significant events that are destined to happen. These entries, compiled with Raphael's help, have become my guiding principles for digesting the Seer potion.

The key tenets for Sequence 9 - Seer were etched into my mind:

A Seer possesses reverence toward fate.Help others interpret revelations and guide them in a better direction, yet always maintain a deep fear and respect for fate. One must not become too egotistical, too proud, or blindly trust one's interpretations.Divination isn't all-powerful.

I've adhered to these principles during my daily life. For now, I've continued working at the antique shop owned by a kind old man named Richards. My digestion of the Seer potion is progressing steadily, but I've refrained from using my Beyonder abilities. Doing so could attract the attention of the Night Watchers or other organizations. Though my presence cannot be detected mystically, a physical capture is always a possibility.

This restraint is a constant reminder of how weak I am. I'll need to advance to at least Sequence 2 before the real story begins if I want to survive.

In Seferah Castle, I've also stumbled upon Klein's spirit, along with others. I'm still unsure what to do with him. Should I release him on the day he's reincarnated and let him work for me? Perhaps that would keep him safer. For now, I'll let the thought simmer.

The Next Day

I sat in the chair in my club room. There were other fortune-tellers present, but unlike them, I'm a genuine Seer. Though I haven't made a name for myself just yet, people are beginning to notice me. My thoughts were interrupted by a sudden knock.

Alena: "Mr. Alex, a businessman is here asking for you. His name is Ronald March."

Ah, him. I had advised him against investing in a building company a few weeks ago. Shortly afterward, the project was halted because of a fire, saving him from financial ruin.

Alex: "Thank you, Ms. Alena. Please let him in."

Moments later, Ronald entered the room, his face lit up with gratitude.

Ronald: "Hello, Mr. Alex. Thank you for your advice."

Alex: "No problem. Are you here for my services again?"

Ronald: "Ah, yes. You see, my wife is expecting a child, and I'd like to know when the birth will be."

I smiled apologetically.

Alex: "Oh, I'm sorry. To divine someone's fortune, I need something that belongs to them. Since your child hasn't been born yet, that would be quite difficult."

Ronald: "I see. Thank you for explaining. Here's your payment."

He placed a sum of money on the table before I could protest.

Alex: "You don't need to pay me. I haven't done anything for you this time."

Ronald: "No, this is for the last time. Your advice saved me. Without it, I would've suffered a massive loss."

With that, he stood, bowed deeply, and left.

As I watched him go, I couldn't help but reflect on the nature of fate. A Seer cannot bend fate—they must follow it and guide others toward it. Was it fate that I advised Ronald not to invest in that company? Or did I inadvertently bend it?

No, I decided firmly. A Seer must maintain reverence toward fate and merely guide others.

As that thought crystallized in my mind, a cool sensation filled my body. My digestion of the Seer potion had progressed—it was nearing completion.
