Anime Collector: Starting With the Malevolent Shrine

"Senpai! Save me!" The piercing scream cut through the air.

Ayase and Kirino believed her story. The heartbreaking familiarity in her voice suggested she had experienced this before.

Whoosh!

The world transformed into a blood-red hue, revealing a devastated wasteland of ruins before their eyes.

The three of them stood horrified at their sudden transportation. The otherworldly sight shattered Ayase and Kirino's reality, causing them to clutch Iroha's arms for comfort.

"Stop shouting. What about the noise complaints tomorrow?" Daiki emerged wearily, surveying the eerie ruins.

"Wow, Senpai! I thought I'd never see you again!" Iroha rushed over at the sight of him.

Ayase and Kirino were pulled along into the embrace.

"Senpaai~ I'm so glad to see you right now." Her pitiful expression barely concealed a hint of craftiness.

"Ahem, little girl, don't get so handsy with my man." Standing nearby, Mei's lips curved into an amused smile.

Her narrowed eyes betrayed her displeasure.

"Ah! Sorry! I was just excited and didn't notice you, Onee-san. I'm hugging Daiki-senpai, and he's not resisting — you won't get angry, will you? Don't blame senpai, it's all my fault. If it weren't for me... ummm..."

Ayase forced a smile as she covered Iroha's mouth.

The girl struggled fiercely, bewildered why her friend would betray her like this.

Following Kirino's pointing finger, she spotted the sharp pole axe in the tall, cold beauty's hands.

The weapon's chilling gleam made Iroha wisely fall silent. She suddenly realized this senior lady might be extraordinary.

Could she be a powerful Sorcerer like Daiki?

"Where is this place?"

"If I'm not mistaken, this might be the Field of Misfortune the Onmyōji mentioned." Mei answered Daiki's question.

"Magano (Field of Misfortune)?" Ayase and Kirino repeated in confusion.

"The Magano is where the Impurities dwell. According to Onmyōji lore, it's a realm inhabited by monsters unlike humans. Any humans or Onmyōji who stray here become prey for the Impurities. In ancient times, Onmyōji could freely travel between worlds. Later, in the modern era, the Onmyōji built Spiritual Vein Seals to cut off the pathways between our world and here. Modern Onmyōji haven't entered the Magano for ages. This forbidden technique's influence reaches far indeed."

Mei's expression grew serious as her palms grew sweaty around the pole axe.

With the Magano cut off from the real world for so long without Onmyōji to keep things in check, the number of Impurities could have grown beyond imagination.

Having to protect three vulnerable civilians — Iroha and the others — only complicated matters.

Daiki's eyes flickered as he noticed the spatial marking connection remained intact, meaning his Spatial Transference technique could still provide escape.

This knowledge eased his concerns.

"Impurities? Are they like Evil Spirits?" Ayase asked, her pale face betraying her terror.

"Something like that."

Information about the Field of Misfortune wasn't secret — it was standard history at Jujutsu High.

Who would have thought the Spiritual Vein burst would cause its reappearance? Even Mei wasn't entirely sure what Impurities truly were.

"They're coming!" Daiki suddenly announced.

The ground began to violently shake. Ayase and the others stared toward the distant ruins.

A tide of black Impurities surged forward, taking bizarre forms — humanoid, mantis-like, spider-like...

"That spider-shaped one must be at least ten meters tall." Kirino said, despair creeping into her voice.

Even a casual blow from such a massive creature would be devastating. With their human frailty, the three of them were helpless.

"Senpai..." Iroha pulled the other two behind Daiki.

Mei gripped her pole axe tightly as Cursed Energy enveloped her body. Her other fist clenched, readying for Black Flash.

"The numbers here are truly ridiculous." Daiki swept his fingertip across the distant sky, sending out an invisible slash.

۞ Innate Technique ⟴ Dismantle! ۞

The frontmost Impurities split cleanly in two.

Mei launched forward like an arrow, her Cursed Energy-covered pole axe slicing through an Impurity. She pivoted swiftly, following with a Black Flash strike.

۞ Black Flash! ۞

Boom!

The ordinary Impurity exploded, unable to withstand the Cursed Technique.

Mei's tall figure wove between the Impurities like an illusion, her pole axe splitting each one it touched...

Ayase and Kirino watched in amazement while Iroha pouted, casting a resentful look at Daiki.

"Senpai! Step it up! Don't lose!" Hiding behind him, she poked his waist.

She didn't want the woman who had scolded her to steal all the spotlight.

She immediately regretted her action as punishment came swiftly.

"Ouch ouch ouch... I'm soy... I'm soyyyy..." Her cute face was casually pulled and stretched by Daiki.

Feeling the pain, Iroha quickly apologized.

"Hmph, Senpai, you only know how to bully me!" Escaping his grip, she backed away and spoke angrily.

"Who told you to stay up late eavesdropping?"

Daiki's words made all three girls' faces turn red.

"Th-that's not... Senpai, instead of talking about that, let's think about how to get out of here." Iroha avoided his gaze stubbornly.

"Getting out isn't difficult."

"You're lying, Senpai. If it's so easy to leave, why are we still here?"

"I just thought I could use this place to test my full power." Daiki stretched and gestured for Mei to fall back.

"Daiki-kun, don't you need my help? The number of Impurities in this Magano is overwhelming." She asked worriedly.

Though a Jujutsu Sorcerer's power surpassed ordinary humans, the number of Impurities here was simply too vast. Even deploying a Domain might not allow escape.

A closed Domain would be easily shattered by the Impurities outside, while an open Domain wouldn't cover enough range.

Even Sukuna, called the King of Curses, had a Domain that only extended to a radius of 200 meters.

"No need!" Daiki formed hand seals, and his Domain began expanding.

۞ Domain Expansion, Spiritual Enhancement ⟴ Malevolent Shrine! ۞

The Yin-Yang Spiritual Power refined through the Primordial technique merged with the Domain.

The Malevolent Shrine rose from the ground, expanding rapidly in an eerie manner.

Mei's eyes widened in disbelief as the Domain, initially covering a 200-meter radius, continued to spread until it stabilized at a radius of one kilometer.

Ayase and the others couldn't understand the source of the older woman's shock.

However, when they saw the malevolent shrine rising from the ground, its fierce and bizarre form shattered their understanding of reality.

Their eyes could only reflect boundless horror and overwhelming shock.
