AngelSubzero - Douma's Adventures

Chapter 8: Chapter 8

The monsters continued slashing their daggers at him missing every time, Douma was too fast for them like a flash of lightning. None of them could comprehend what someone like Douma was doing in their dimension they had to get him out.

Panic filled the air Douma could sense it. The armored alien resorted to ambushing the young founder only to be met with a flick to the forehead that sent the creature flying towards a nearby tree.

Douma laughed at the creature and held the other two up in the air with the ice stalagmites from the ground. Both creatures were now struggling to break free from the hold.

The summoned monsters were wearing the faces of human beings like masks. Based on their anguished expressions, Douma speculated these monsters were clones of their victims. The masks were supposed to deceive their victims and lure them to their lair.

Growling menacingly, the armored alien ran through the abandoned houses and huts in the dimension. Douma got ready to end this fight once and for all he raised his fan waiting for the creature to get closer. Even though its skin was of pure foreign metal now Douma should be able to land a hit with much focus.

The two monsters broke free from the ice stalagmites and charged at him from behind. Immediately Douma sliced the armored creature's head off summoning the same large icicle that froze its stinging flesh and shattered the ice sculpture.

Purple flames headed towards his direction as Douma sprinted to the side near a large lake. That's not going to do anything you can't land a scratch on me no matter what you do.

Closing in on him another one of the aliens fired the same purple flame at the young founder. There was an explosion but it did nothing to him. Staring at Douma in shock, the three monsters let out a cry of defeat they knew what was coming after this.

From their distressed expressions Douma could tell what they were thinking, he sent the creatures back with an overwhelming force that decimated them into ashes. Their screams of pain filled the air, Douma stood there watching everything fall silent.

"Guess I'm the only one left. Don't need an exit." The young founder summoned a spiral of frost that rose to the very top of the entire dimension freezing every lifeform and object upon contact.

After the last thing in the eerie dimension succumbed to the ice, Douma's surroundings shattered as images of the dimension spiraled in a dark vortex that burst into a bright light with shadows of birds flying past it.

Douma was now midair spinning around in the sky to prepare for landing. A flock of birds flew by him the young founder was back in the real world.

Swiftly landing on his feet, Douma looked around to see the aftermath of his battle with the fish monsters. The lake remained but the row of trees and hut were destroyed.

"What a mess someone's gotta clean this up. I'll take my leave from here." Taking one last glance at the lake, Douma kept his fan in his pocket and continued walking down the trail back to his shrine.

---

"Home sweet home!" Douma chimed, the shrine leader unlocked the gate and proceeded to climb up the stairs.

I'll just leave the gate open for now in case there's visitors. Sitting on his beanbag Douma took a few sheets of paper and a pencil from the drawer. Investigations were still ongoing a sketch could give him a clue about the alien's adaptation and origin though there was something about those walking fish that made him extremely uncomfortable.

How was he going to explain his findings to the investigators? The aliens were dead and they wouldn't believe him without any evidence. What he was going to share with them sounded bonkers anyway; sea monsters, alien-life, and dimensional-beings none of this was convincing. There was nothing he could tell them besides the attack that he already dealt with. Douma really wanted to help people but it's not as easy as it seems.

"Ugh I can't think of anything to say. These drawings will only scare them. Maybe I should just stick to running my own investigation it's not like I'm interested in the ongoing case I just wanna make things easier for everyone. I'm my own hero." Sketching out a few details with some shading, Douma looked at the result skeptically.

The creature he sketched was of something he saw on a planet further away from the solar system. It looked similar to the walking fish but not exactly. There were distinct features such as the many pairs of legs and quadruple body whereas the fish monsters were bipedal with large claws.

"This is the um flying worm-thing yeah that's right." Douma placed his palm against his forehead in disappointment. The names just didn't make any sense he never thought about giving these creatures one let alone ask them. It was more of a hi and bye situation.

Putting the sketch aside, Douma drew another creature this time it resembled a friendly-looking frog with skinny limbs and antenna.

"And here we have Bugzter the frog, a questionable creature I'd say but he's a cool guy." Gleaming, Douma brought the two sketches in front of him and studied them closely. "Let's see what we'll get from this combination I certainly hope it's not an abomination."

Douma lifted the two images from their sheets of paper into the air and merged them together to form a single image. Despite being drawings they responded to the sudden power casted upon them abidingly.

To his dismay, the formation turned out to be worse than what the walking fish looked like. Douma jumped back and observed the weird animal's twitchy movements right in front of him.

"That's it!" Douma quickly dispersed the image with a clap and sat back down on his beanbag. Detective work was a trivial task without any evidence.

Grabbing his hat from the corner, the young founder thought about the storm and what kind of state was it in now. Douma used his powers which means the storm will only get stronger. There was no one visiting him anymore a sign that a more aggressive storm is going to inflict more pain and suffering to the villagers.

So for now, Douma had to stop using his powers and live normally. There were no threats so far however Douma couldn't guarantee those creatures could still be out there it may not even be the same species. He just had to blend in with humans and pretend nothing surreal ever happened in these grounds.
