After checking through the files Keiji saw that there were four in his team including him. But he almost facepalmed himself when he found out that his overall stats was the same with a level 18 user. 

'Well, it's not like someone will find my true identity. Let's just leave it at that," Keiji thought and didn't take it as a problem and instead open his status.

Keiji nodded as he looked through his status before closing it. He looked through the holographic files and looked through the information.

The tournament will start after four hours and he needed to meet with his teammates 2 hour before the tournament started so there were still two hours left that he had nothing to do. So he decided to stroll around the town and let the time pass.

"We are buying unappraised items with a reasonable prices"

"Hey look out for our new potions.."

"Limited discounts for this day only…"

"Buying armor with a reasonable price.."

He heard many bustling noises from different merchandise in the street as he walked through along with it. Keiji strolled around but he spotted a hooded old man in an alley. There was no one around and only an old man sitting on the floor while leaning on the wall.

Keiji walked towards it and smelled the stench surrounding the air as he walked nearby to this alley. He clearly saw that although the streets and the other alley were crowded this place was still barren. It seems like even players do not want to go near this place that is why Keiji was curious why he entered the alley and neared the old man.

But before he could near him a notification appeared in his vision.

[ You are affected by the poisonous air ]

[ You will lose 2 hp per second ]

Keiji didn't panic nor mind that he was affected by the poison and continued neared the old man.

Red numbers floated above Keiji's head as seconds passed. Keiji kept walking and stand at in front of the old man and checked him.

After three seconds passed Keiji's health went down to 19 but soon after another seconds passed the same red number floated again above Keiji's head but soon was followed by a green number.

Keiji's exp went back to 19 after that but he didn't mind what was happening and instead talked to the man.

"What happened to you?" Keiji guessed that the man was an npc and wanted to try his luck and gain some quest from it. It is stated that in this day's quest become less and less because the virtual world has already experienced almost a hundred years so it is expected that those hidden missions and extraordinary stuff have already been exploited by the first generation and only those who are extremely hard and considered impossible missions to complete have remained throughout the years.

But as time passed by it gradually lessened and now the most hardest and impossible mission is the only things left and those missions that seemingly endless and just repeated themselves again and again.

The only thing that makes this more interesting than the actual world is that they can constantly fight here and kill each other. Missions and the story line of this virtual world have already been long finished or that is what they thought.

The old man raised its head and looked at Keiji which revealed its face which was half burned and skin and bones can be seen in a certain part of its face. It was a disgusting sight to see there are holes on the other side of the face and there are even worms playing on those holes in his face. 

Any normal person would puke the moment they saw the olds man's state.

"It's rare to find a young man like you who was not disgusted or scared by my appearance." The old man said with a hoarse voice and a seemingly weak voice. 

"Are you concerned about me young man?" The old man slowly asks with a very low voice and seemingly tired face that you wouldn't be able to discern because of his state.

"No," Keiji said as he saw that he was constantly losing hp although he had a high regenation it was not strong enough to fully lessen the effect of the poison.

He only had 15 hp left even after almost a minute passed his regenerative ability kept increasing its healing speed as seconds passed by.

"Then why did you ask what happened to me?" The old man asked as he kept speaking slowly.

"Because I don't know what to say," Keiji casually replied.

"Then why talk to me in the first place." The old man refuted.

"I don't want to waste time here old man. I only need your quest so tell me if I can help you with something." Keiji felt irritated at the old man.

"Haha… cough* cough* young man these days… I think I have already been waiting for someone like you to appear here for almost a hundred years." The old man tried to laugh before saying with a sore voice.

"Let's skip the talking old man," Keiji said.

"Ok, young man as you can see, my state is far from normal and I am constantly suffering from pain because of a curse that was placed on me," The old man said and the gap of every word that came out of his mouth became larger and larger and he was now speaking slower than before.

Keiji hp gradually rose as time passed by and the regeneration was getting faster and faster. And his healing abilities were almost on par with the poison.

"I was even shocked when I saw you and it seems that you are not affected by it. When I can still be able to move I tried countering the curse but never succeeded. I was cursed that my body will continuously rot and all creatures who went near me will suffer constant damage. But now you clearly broke it. "

"I am still affected by it it's just that I have a safety precautions"

"Still… but let us talk to the point as you can see I have already long formulated a potion that can counter this curse and I only lack one ingredient to complete it and I want you to help me get it." After the old man spoke a notification popped up in front of Keiji."

"I hope you can keep up with your promise young man and I hope you can finish it before I die as you can see I am already dying. " The old man spoke very slowly while still clinging to his hoarse voice.

"I need you to get me one drop of the essence of life. It can be found in an Island called the " Polygon Island". That is the only placed in this world where you can find it. You don't need to worry about anything related to your rewards I will give you more than you could ever imagine."

When Keiji heard the name of the Island he couldn't help but remember the cat that he had seen on the top of the clock tower that night. 'Why can't I remember, I really feel like I have seen those symbols in that cat's eyes before but why can't I remember it.'

Keiji thought and walked away to the old man as he walked out of the alley gazes landed on him when someone saw him walking out of the alley.

"Hey, did you think he acquired a mission."

"He lasted there for almost 30 minutes. Do you think he wouldn't gain something." 

"What do you think he did to stay in that poisonous environment?"

"I don't know, maybe he has some kind of artifact in him." 

"But even the Union still doesn't uncover the mysteries behind that and it was already a hundred years. Do you think the Union still didn't acquire an artifact on par with his artifact?"

" That makes sense but how would you explain that he can last in there for 30 minutes."

Countless people gossip between them and started talking to themselves while looking at Keiji waitung for someone to comfront him.
