Chapter 28: The Chunin Exams Begin
With the Chunin Exams now at hand, only a day until their start, the atmosphere in Konoha was charged with anticipation. "Impressive," Hiruzen commented, watching Daniel practice in front of him using shadow clones. "You've gobbled up many of my teachings like you were at a buffet."
In a short time, Daniel had learned a plethora of techniques from Hiruzen, including those he had 'borrowed' earlier. Wherever he went within Konoha, you could hear people talking about him, calling him the Professor's apprentice. His reputation grew as he completed multiple missions per day using his shadow clones.
Early in the morning, the original Daniel arrived back from his mission.
The sun rose over Konoha, casting a warm glow over the village. The streets were bustling with activity as genin from various villages arrived, each team eager to prove their worth in the upcoming exams. The air was thick with excitement and a hint of nervousness.
Daniel walked through the village, observing the preparations. He could see the determination in the eyes of the young shinobi, each one carrying the hopes and dreams of their respective villages.
As he made his way to the training grounds, he noticed Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura practicing together. Naruto's enthusiasm was infectious, and even Sasuke seemed more focused than usual, after the land of waves arc Sasuke seeing how capable Naruto was felt left behind he knew Naruto was training with Daniel but it hadn't meant anything to him but now it was different. Sakura, too, was giving it her all, determined not to be left behind.
"Hey, Daniel!" Naruto called out, waving energetically. "Are you ready for the exams?"
Daniel smiled, nodding. "Of course. How about you guys?"
"We're ready!" Naruto declared, his eyes shining with determination. "I'm gonna show everyone what the future Hokage is made of!"
Sasuke smirked, his confidence evident. "Just try to keep up, Naruto."
Sakura rolled her eyes but smiled. "We'll do our best."
"Quite the sum of events are going to happen during these exams." He smirked, as he recollected the event's of the chunin exams in the original story.
The Chunin Exams were more than just a test of skill; they were a stage where the future leaders of the shinobi world would emerge.
The day of the exams arrived, and the tension in the air was palpable. The genin gathered in the academy, their faces a mix of excitement and anxiety. Hiruzen stood at the front, his presence commanding respect.
Absolutely! I'll add more detail to the characters' expressions and emotions during their dialogues. Here's the revised version:
Entering the test building, Daniel was greeted by a room already full of shinobi from different villages. The room buzzed with conversation, some making new friends while others stuck together with their fellow village shinobi. It felt like a school sports event, the air thick with tension and the desire for success. Everyone gathered here had been selected to represent their village.
Next to him by the door, Daniel could hear Ino clinging to Sasuke as they entered. "Well, if it isn't the three stooges," Naruto greeted Team Ten with a wide grin, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Oh, and Daniel, did you just arrive too?" he added, his tone friendly and curious.
"There you are. Guess some things never change, huh? Naruto, you're always bad at arriving on time," Kiba said, smirking as he, along with Team Eight, approached and joined the conversation.
"Huh, so Daniel, where's the rest of your team?" Choji suddenly asked, his expression puzzled.
"Well, actually..." Daniel began to respond, scratching the back of his head.
"This isn't a school festival, you know," a shinobi wearing a Hidden Leaf headband interrupted, his voice dripping with condescension. "Just by looking at you, I can already tell you're wet behind the ears. Typical for genin such as yourselves," he added, crossing his arms and smirking.
"Huh... Who the hell are you, and why are you butting into our conversation?" Ino retorted, her eyes narrowing in annoyance.
"Name's Kabuto. And you children need to look around instead of being trapped in your own little bubble," he responded, adjusting his glasses with a smug smile. As the three teams turned, they saw the heavy gazes directed at them, the room's atmosphere growing tense.
"Reminds me of chapter 44 of Yongsa High Dungeon Raiders," Daniel remarked with a grin. "Maybe I should tell everyone 'Good luck'."
"Yon-what? What's he talking about?" Ino looked at Naruto, puzzled by Daniel's comment.
"Don't look at me, I don't know either," Naruto replied, shrugging and disrupting the mood, stopping Daniel from 'greeting' the contestants.
"Anyway, what I was saying was that the group behind you is from Amegakure. Those guys have really short fuses. As your senior, I thought I'd give you guys a little advice," Kabuto continued, his tone now more serious.
"You're really informed, aren't you?" Sakura commented, her eyes widening in curiosity.
"Well, I do have a lot of experience, this not being my first time and all," Kabuto responded, adjusting his glasses again, a hint of pride in his voice.
"So this is your second time?" Ino asked, her eyebrows raised in surprise.
"Actually, seventh," he replied nonchalantly.
"Then does that mean you could tell us a little about what we can expect?" Sakura asked, leaning in slightly, her interest piqued.
"I guess," Kabuto replied, with Naruto and Kiba responding with a small cheer, their excitement palpable.
"Alright then, I can at least guide you chicklings," Kabuto said as he took out his deck of cards, explaining his analysis of the current exam. Sasuke followed along, his eyes narrowing as he requested stat info on Gaara and Lee. After their discussion, the three teams realized the caliber of the shinobi actually attending these exams.
"Everyone here is an elite shinobi," Ino and Sakura remarked, their voices tinged with awe.
"And it seems we also have a special shinobi amongst us this time," Kabuto smirked as he looked at Daniel, his eyes gleaming with intrigue.
"Why is he looking at Daniel? Clearly, Sasuke is the special one here," Ino thought to herself, her inner voice filled with confusion.
"My, it seems your friends don't get out much, Professor's Apprentice," Kabuto said, his voice carrying a hint of mockery as the entire room directed their gaze at Daniel. "And I see you're not that much concerned by this exam, seeing you don't even have any teammates with you," he added, fanning the flames with a sly smile.
