Chapter 21: New Proposal

Team Fourteen arrived back in Konoha after a week's journey. Immediately after settling all matters regarding the completion of their mission, Daniel went his own way.

"Daniel!" a certain kunoichi called out, drawing his attention to the left. "I wanted to tell you that I won't be around for a week or two for our daily sessions. See ya!" she said, rushing off without giving Daniel time to respond.

It appeared that Daniel 2 had not only made a reputation for his interest in knowledge but also for his skills among his colleagues. Tenten, the kunoichi he first met on his first day learning medical ninjutsu, was impressed by his quick adaptability to the Mystical Palm Technique. She had reached out to Daniel 2 to ask him to help her learn the technique, leading them to grow closer during the process. Daniel could now do C-rank missions as his clones continued taking missions. Although Daniel was privy to this knowledge through constant communication with his clones, he wasn't shocked by all the things his clones achieved in his absence.

"Young Daniel, I've been expecting you," old man Hiruzen said, taking a few puffs from his pipe.

"I received notice that you requested to speak with me after my arrival from our mission," Daniel said courteously as he entered the Hokage's office.

"Yes, I couldn't help but notice your prowess in ninjutsu research. It reminds me of a certain someone, you see," Hiruzen said. Though Daniel's face showed no response, his inward expression was full of displeasure. He had just been compared to the snake-like Orochimaru. "Is that supposed to be a compliment?" he protested inwardly. "You flatter me," he responded humbly.

"Haha!" Hiruzen laughed at Daniel's response. "A rather collected fellow, I see. Your reputation stated otherwise, you see," the old man said, still chuckling. "I called you here to offer you something," Hiruzen shifted his tone. "Though you might be young to understand the gravity of my proposal, I want you to become my pupil," the old man said, shocking Daniel. Although he could see something like this coming, it still surprised him. But this was the perfect opportunity for him to explain why he knew so many techniques and why he was such a skilled ninja.

"Don't worry, child. Take your time to think it through as much as you want," Hiruzen added, sitting back relaxingly.

"No, I will accept. It would be an honor to learn from the Hokage personally," Daniel responded with conviction.

Hiruzen laughed heartily at Daniel's swift response. "Excellent. I look forward to our time together."

Daniel left the Hokage's office and headed back to his place. "The disciple of the Hokage. Not something I was expecting, but it will serve as an excuse for the many techniques I already have, and my background in ninjutsu research will cover up the rest," he mused as he entered his house and made his way to the basement that currently served as a secondary lab. "No one's here!" he remarked as he entered.

His eyes shifted, spinning into a fully developed Sharingan, then transforming into a Mangekyou Sharingan, taking the shape of a slim octagram. What followed next was Daniel's body fading out of existence. After a few experiments with the Sharingan, Daniel had finally created his own pocket dimension where his main lab was located. Unlike the Kamui dimension, Daniel's dimension, Aoi Koten, was an endless purple field of earth with no vegetation and a clear blue sky with no clouds in sight. In this vast nothingness stood a large building—Daniel's main research lab, where he conducted all his experiments. When he truly wanted to let loose, he could use this dimension to spar without any worries.

"It seems there was a breakthrough," he remarked, feeling the excitement of his clones. He then teleported to where strawberries were being experimented on to create plants with special chakra properties.

"We finally did it!" Daniel's clones rejoiced as Daniel materialized where they were.

"I really did, huh? I can already smell the profits," Daniel grinned as he looked at the rosaceae plant bearing strawberries that glowed a bright blue color.

"Whose turn is it now?" the clones asked as mixed feelings started to rile up among them.

"I did it last time," a clone said, trying to excuse itself as they began to debate who should test the effects of the fruit.

"Come on, guys, we're all the same, aren't we?" Daniel 13 said, easing the tension. "We can cast lots to see who gets the honor," he added, smiling. The other Daniels agreed to his proposal as Daniel stood there, spectating through it all.

"Hey, why do I have to participate too?" he remarked loudly after being given a lot as well.

After they pulled the lots, Daniel 23 had the honor of testing the strawberry. To fully test the effects, he had to go through some preparations. With anticipation, the other Daniels watched as the energy-deprived and heavily injured Daniel 23 picked up the strawberry and swallowed it.

"Twenty-five percent replenished chakra, wounds are closed, but it seems internal injuries still require medical attention... No signs of additional boosts," they assessed him after taking the fruit.

"How did it taste, though?" Daniel asked.

"Not bad this time. They usually tasted awful, but now they're delicious if I were to describe them," Daniel 23 answered.

Sure, here's a light novel-style rewrite of your text:

"In order to successfully develop this product, we will need subjects that reflect the standard Shinobi so we can get more accurate data," Daniel 19 declared, finishing the analysis of the effects.

"Yes, we concur. For Operation Sensu Bean to be successful, we must change our experimentation subjects. I'll use the genetic data from those Uchiha siblings to create a few," Daniel 20 responded.

"Well, I've seen enough of this. I'm heading back. Just tell me when it's ready to enter the market," Daniel said, teleporting back to his house. He landed straight in his room, where he hopped onto his bed, heading to sleep.
