Chapter 947: Golden Intervention
~BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!~
Rey soared higher into the blood-red sky, his energy swirling around him as the Dragonoid Leader's massive jaws opened wide, releasing another catastrophic Dragon Breath.
The air crackled with intensity, the sheer force of the blast ripping through the atmosphere toward him.
Rey clenched his fists, activating [Doppel], drawing upon the same Dragon Breath he had copied earlier.
"I'll show you how it's done," Rey growled, pouring every ounce of his strength into the attack. Black energy surged from his mouth, mirroring the Dragonoid's technique but with even greater potency.
The two blasts collided in a blinding explosion, creating a dome of destructive energy that sent shockwaves across the battlefield.
The Dragonoid roared, pouring more power into its attack, but Rey's combined blast began to overpower it. His energy burned brighter, bolstered by his relentless determination.
With a deafening crack, Rey's Dragon Breath tore through the Dragonoid's, slamming into the creature with devastating force.
"KRIIAAAKKKK!"
The Dragonoid Leader screamed as the blast consumed its chest, sending it hurtling backward. It struggled to recover, its massive body smoking and bleeding from the impact.
Rey didn't give it a chance to retaliate.
"Let me ease your pain!" he bellowed, diving toward the wounded leader with unparalleled speed.
He activated [Claw Attack], his hands glowing with lethal energy as they morphed into razor-sharp claws.
Slamming into the creature, he tore through its scales, delivering a series of precise and deadly strikes.
The Dragonoid let out one final, anguished roar before its body went limp, plummeting toward the ground. Rey landed moments before it, his wings folding as he stood over the massive corpse, breathing heavily.
The battlefield erupted into cheers.
The soldiers, exhausted but victorious, shouted Rey's name as they fought off the remaining Dragonoids with renewed vigor. Lady A smiled from her position, cutting down another enemy with swift precision.
"That's how it's done," she murmured, her admiration for Rey growing.
Rey glanced around, taking in the sight of his allies triumphing over the remaining Dragonoids. A small smile formed on his lips.
He had done it.
They had a chance now.
But then the sky began to darken again.
A low rumble filled the air, growing louder and more ominous with each passing second. The cheers died down as everyone looked up in unison. The blood-red clouds split apart, revealing an even larger rift in the sky.
From it emerged a horde five times the size of the previous one, their roars shaking the very ground beneath them.
Leading the charge were five massive Dragonoid Leaders, their forms towering over the one Rey had just slain. Their glowing eyes scanned the battlefield with bloodthirsty intent, and their combined presence exuded an overwhelming aura of dread.
Rey's eyes widened as he took in the sight, his body tensing.
His heart raced, and for the first time since the battle began, he felt a wave of genuine fear.
"This is bad," he muttered under his breath, shuddering as the enormity of the situation sank in.
The battlefield fell silent, the soldiers frozen in place as the new threat descended upon them.
Rey tightened his fists, unsure if he could even prevent the disaster that was about to take place.
The sheer horror…
'This will be a massacre.'
~WHUUUUUUUUUUUMMMM!!!~
The five Dragonoid Leaders unleashed their consecutive Dragon Breaths, beams of raw energy tearing through the battlefield with relentless force.
~BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!~
Soldiers and adventurers scrambled to escape, but the devastating blasts consumed them in fiery explosions.
"U-uarrghhh!"
"S-save me! Please! Please! Guahhh!"
"Ack! I don't want to die!"
"It hurts! It burns!"
"Lady A… please help me! Hieeeaargh!"
The screams of the dying filled the air as massive craters formed where people once stood.
Rey shielded his eyes from the blinding light of the attacks, gritting his teeth as the carnage unfolded. The surviving soldiers stumbled backward, fear etched across their faces, only to be swarmed by the Dragonoid horde.
The creatures showed no mercy, their claws and teeth ripping through armor and flesh alike.
Lady A, bloodied but determined, dashed toward Rey, cutting down a Dragonoid mid-flight before landing beside him.
She was panting, her usual composure shaken as she stared at the unfolding massacre.
"Rey!" she shouted, her voice barely audible over the chaos. "What do we do now?"
Rey glanced at her, confusion flashing across his face. "You're asking me?"
Angie's desperation was beyond palpable, her eyes wide as she gestured to the battlefield.
"You're the strongest among us! If anyone can figure this out, it's you!"
Rey hesitated, the weight of her words pressing down on him.
He scanned the battlefield, his mind racing. His Mana reserves were dangerously low, and while his [Mana Recovery] was active, the process was far too slow to make a difference right now.
'I can probably take down one more of those Dragonoid Leaders,' he thought, his gaze flicking to the massive creatures hovering ominously above. 'But there are four others. If I target one, the rest will come after me.'
He clenched his fists, frustration bubbling within him.
'Should I… escape?' The thought was bitter, but the grim reality of their situation made it hard to ignore.
'If I stay, I'll probably die with the rest of them. But if I leave—'
Before he could finish the thought, the battlefield was bathed in an unexpected light.
A warm, golden glow pierced through the blood-red sky, its brilliance overpowering the oppressive darkness. The Dragonoid horde halted, their snarls turning to confused growls as they looked upward.
The crimson clouds parted, and the light grew brighter, cascading across the battlefield like a divine dawn.
Rey squinted, shielding his eyes as the radiance intensified.
The soldiers and adventurers still alive froze, their gazes locked on the sky. Even the Dragonoid Leaders paused, their monstrous heads tilting in unison as they regarded the phenomenon.
Then, from the center of the golden light, a figure emerged.
The silhouette was humanoid, its form glowing with an ethereal aura that exuded power and grace. Golden energy rippled around it like waves of light, illuminating the battlefield.
Rey's heart skipped a beat, his breath catching in his throat as recognition struck him like a bolt of lightning.
"Hold on…" he whispered, his voice barely audible.
The figure descended slowly, its golden glow intensifying with every moment. The battlefield had fallen into an eerie silence, all eyes fixed on the radiant newcomer.
Rey's hands trembled, his usually sharp mind overwhelmed by the sight before him. There was no doubt about it—he knew exactly who this person was.
As the figure drew closer, Rey's eyes widened in disbelief.
"It's her!"
The radiant figure descended fully onto the battlefield, her presence commanding attention. She was a beautiful woman draped in flowing white robes, her skin glowing with an ethereal light that seemed to purify the very air around her.
Her golden wings stretched wide, shimmering with divine power, and her golden hair flowed like a river of light.
The battlefield froze, all movement ceasing as her gentle yet commanding voice rang out.
"I am Seraph, an Angel of God," she declared, her tone carrying a divine resonance that silenced even the howling winds.
"I have heard your prayers and come to answer them. Fear not, for divine intervention is here."
