An Extra’s POV

Chapter 932: An Abomination

"Fine by me. Let's see what your so-called evolution is made of."

Rey smirked, his adrenaline surging as he wanted to step forward to confront the epitome of insanity before him.

Then—

"GRRRRRRR…."

His eyes widened as a colossal beast lumbered into the light, its form a horrifying amalgamation of various monsters. Its eyes glowed with unnatural intensity, and its growl reverberated through the cavern.

'What the hell… is that?' Even Rey was shocked by what he was looking at.

The creature that emerged from the cave was gargantuan, its silhouette outlined by the faint glow of torches scattered around the cavern walls.

Its body was an unholy fusion of a dragon and a monstrous chimera—scales gleamed with a molten sheen, claws as sharp as blades tore at the ground with every step, and a pair of grotesque wings stretched wide, dripping with dark ichor.

Its eyes glowed an ominous crimson, filled with unrestrained fury and power.

Dr. Shwartz stood proudly behind the beast, his voice tinged with a mixture of excitement and mania.

"Beautiful, isn't it? The process remains unstable for most creatures, but this one—oh, this one is perfection. It has acclimated to the inrush of the Emperor's power, evolving into a higher form. A successful experiment at last!"

Rey's expression remained unreadable as he eyed the abomination. "You call that thing perfection? It's nothing more than a monstrosity."

Dr. Shwartz's eyes narrowed.

"You wouldn't understand. This is the future, the pinnacle of strength and evolution! Now, behold its might!" He extended his hand, barking an order.

"Attack!"

"URUAAAHHHHHH!!!"

The beast roared, the sound reverberating through the cave like a thunderclap.

~WHOOOOOMM!!!~

It charged at Rey with terrifying speed, its claws slicing through the air as it swiped at him.

Rey leaped back, his movements fluid and calculated. He landed on a rocky outcropping, his eyes studying the creature intently.

"Let's see what you've got," he muttered to himself.

The creature didn't disappoint. It unleashed a torrent of fiery breath, the searing flames consuming everything in their path. Rey dodged the attack with ease, flipping into the air as the heat singed the ground where he had stood.

"Hmm. Fire breath," Rey noted. "Just like a Dragon, huh?."

The beast shifted tactics, slamming its massive tail into the ground.

The impact sent shockwaves rippling through the cavern, dislodging rocks and throwing Rey off balance.

The creature lunged, its maw snapping dangerously close to his chest.

Rey twisted midair, narrowly avoiding the attack as he summoned a barrier to shield himself from the debris. His focus never wavered as the beast continued its relentless assault. It unleashed one ability after another—ripping spikes from its tail, summoning bursts of dark energy, and releasing deafening sonic roars.

Rey's smirk grew as he dodged each attack.

"Gotcha," he whispered.

Dr. Shwartz observed from his vantage point, his confidence swelling with every passing second.

"You're outmatched, boy!" he called out, his voice dripping with arrogance. "You're no match for my masterpiece! Give up while you still can!"

Rey ignored the taunt, his mind piecing together the creature's attack patterns. His fingers twitched slightly, the faint glow of his aura intensifying as he activated one of his own skills.

When the beast lunged again, Rey didn't retreat.

Instead, he dashed forward, weaving between its massive claws and striking it with precise blows. Sparks flew as his aura-coated fists connected with the creature's scales, each strike testing its durability.

Dr. Shwartz laughed, his voice echoing with triumph.

"You can't possibly damage it! This is the apex of evolution, far beyond the likes of you!"

But Rey simply smiled. "Who said I was trying to damage it?"

The beast roared again, this time charging up another fiery breath attack. Rey stood his ground, allowing the flames to engulf him. For a moment, it seemed as though he had been consumed.

"Foolish," Dr. Shwartz sneered.

When the flames subsided, Rey stood unharmed, his body coated in a swirling aura that shimmered with an otherworldly glow.

His smirk widened as he looked at the beast.

"Thanks for the lessons. I've learned all your tricks."

Dr. Shwartz froze, his eyes widening in disbelief. "What... what do you mean?"

Rey didn't answer.

Instead, he ascended into the air, his body radiating an immense, overwhelming aura. The energy around him grew denser, layers of power stacking atop one another as he activated the very abilities he had just copied from the monster.

The beast snarled, preparing to attack again, but Rey was faster.

He surged downward like a meteor, his body cloaked in flames, dark energy, and sheer destructive force.

The impact was cataclysmic.

~BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!~

The ground beneath them erupted, a massive crater forming as Rey's strike tore through the beast's body. The creature let out a final, guttural roar before disintegrating into nothingness, its once formidable form reduced to shreds.

The cavern fell silent, save for the sound of crumbling rocks and the faint hum of residual energy.

Rey emerged from the crater, his steps steady and deliberate.

He wiped the dust from his face as he approached Dr. Shwartz, who was on his knees, staring at the devastation with a vacant expression.

"My masterpiece... destroyed..." the scientist muttered, his voice breaking. "This is impossible... You used its power. You... you destroyed it with its own abilities."

Rey stopped in front of him, his gaze cold and unyielding. "Your so-called masterpiece was just another obstacle. Now, you're going to answer my questions."

Dr. Shwartz looked up at him, fear flickering in his eyes. Rey's aura flared again, a silent warning of what would happen if he refused.

'Killing that single creature caused my Levels to shoot up like crazy. If I can keep this up, or find other Monsters like this, Leveling Up would be even faster than I previously thought…'

For that reason—and others, of course—Rey was ready to investigate the shivering man.

'I want to know everything.'
