Chapter 445: A Spring Night
"Chief Inspector David, the President's lady is here, I think we should go and meet her too."
On this side, Ivanka, who was seated at a booth, stood up, and David nodded in agreement. The two walked side by side toward Katherine's direction.
"Madam President."
Katherine was still chatting with Trump when a voice came from behind her, interrupting their conversation. She turned to see it was David and Ivanka, immediately responding, "Chief Inspector David, Miss Ivanka."
"Thank you for coming to my father's dinner tonight."
Ivanka picked up a glass of champagne, and Katherine, with a smile, responded in kind before they both drained their glasses.
Because the attendees were celebrities and political elites, the dinner naturally became a rare networking opportunity for many, and subsequent hours filled the hotel lobby with the sound of mingling conversations.
Of course, David, who had control over the Senate and House of Representatives, various departments, and even the White House, naturally received much adulation.
These people came to him one after another, outwardly expressing support for the nationalization of the Federal Reserve, but their words covertly revealed their wish to join his camp.
David knew these people were only interested in gaining benefits from his powerful position, so he casually exchanged a few words with them over a drink and then sent them on their way.
By eleven o'clock, the dinner was entering its final phase, and many of the invited dignitaries were three sheets to the wind, leaving with the support of their bodyguards.
"If the legislation is to be officially drafted and there is turbulence, our Kennedy Family and the families of local bosses, tycoons from various states, will certainly enter the market to stabilize it; rest assured, Chief Inspector David!"
Sean was also aware that if the Federal Reserve indeed announced nationalization, international speculators might want to make a quick buck, so he made a promise.
"Alright, I'll leave this matter to you then."
"No problem!"
"Then go and rest, Mr. Sean."
"Alright."
Sean, having drunk a fair amount over the past few hours, nodded his head, showing signs of drunkenness, and made his way toward the exit.
While David intended to greet Trump before leaving, a waiter came over and handed him a card, saying, "Chief Inspector David, Miss Ivanka asked me to give this to you."
David thought it was some kind of item and took it, only to find it was a room card for the hotel. He was immediately taken aback, then his gaze quickly scanned the crowd.
Soon enough, he spotted Ivanka by an elevator on the right side of the lobby; she appeared to be watching his every move. When she saw him looking over, she offered a seductive smile and then walked into the elevator with her long legs.
"What's this all about? Does she have something else to add?"
David muttered to himself, but this thought was soon dismissed. If she had something to add, she could have just come over and told him; why would she give him a room card to talk in the room?
Could it be that she's taken a fancy to him?
Very likely!
An ex-supermodel like Ivanka, known for her liberal nature, combined with his current state of power, made it normal for her to take the initiative.
Indeed, not just Ivanka, but many of the debutantes that had come earlier, had flirted with him relentlessly. He surmised that with the slightest hint from him, these women would throw themselves at him.
"Chief Inspector David."
As David was still contemplating, a familiar voice interrupted him. He turned and saw Trump, supported by his bodyguards, staggering over.
As both the host and owner of the event, Trump had certainly not spared himself the libations; older than Payden by a few years, it had been a challenge for him to last until the end.
"Sorry for the lack of hospitality today..."
"Not at all, Mr. Trump, everyone had a great time."
"Good to hear... Are you leaving now? I...I'll see you out!"
"No need, Mr. Trump; I can find my way back. Please help Mr. Trump to his rest."
"Well... Okay then."
The bodyguards supported Trump, who tottered into the elevator.
Meanwhile, David considered the room card in his hand, a struggle surfacing in his mind. Should he go up or not?
Well, perhaps she indeed had something else to say. Let's go see!
David eventually made a decision, entered the elevator, and arrived at room 2818 on the 28th floor, where he rang the doorbell.
About thirty seconds later, the door opened. Ivanka was still in her pink deep-V gown from earlier, and perhaps due to the wine, her cheeks were slightly flushed, making her look even more enticing.
"Miss Ivanka..."
"Hmm..."
David was about to ask what else she wanted to talk about, but before he could finish speaking, Ivanka's red lips sealed his, and she pulled him inside, closing the door behind them.
When he came to his senses, David pulled away from her kiss, breathing heavily, and asked, "Miss Ivanka, you have a husband!"
"What, do you fear he'll trouble you, Chief Inspector David?"
Ivanka's eyes met his directly, a mischievous smile on her face.
"To tell the truth, I am a bit scared."
"Giggle... "
Ivanka could not help but laugh, then said, "If that scares you, then why did you come up here to find me?"
