Chapter 4: Gwen’s Gratitude! Nightfall!
Ye Li and Strange bantered back and forth as they chatted.
Given Strange's current stature, most people couldn't afford his medical services, so they chatted for quite a while.
Yet, even with Ye Li's relentless chatter, the system didn't show any signs of activating.
Could it be because Strange hadn't become the Sorcerer Supreme yet?
"Ye."
Strange, typing something into his computer, asked, "You seem like you're waiting for something?"
Ye Li: "Stephen, are you planning to switch careers to become a psychologist?"
"Oh, no. I hate those mystic pretenders the most."
Strange hit the Enter key. "You just seem distracted."
"Your girl's checkup is done. The results are excellent, even strong, which is surprising because she looks so slender."
"I think you should work out more, or you might not be able to keep up with younger girls."
"I'm strong too, Stephen."
Ye Li got up, ready to leave.
Before leaving, he didn't forget to remind Strange.
"Drive carefully."
Strange dismissed him. "You always say that. You sound like a nagging old mom."
Alright, good luck then.
...
"No problems at all, Gwen. Your health is excellent!"
Jessica waved the test results excitedly next to Gwen.
"Yes, Jessica, I've already seen it."
Gwen had a smile on her face, finally feeling much more at ease.
Leaving the hospital.
Gwen saw Ye Li waiting for them up ahead and walked over with a light step.
Leaning against the car, Ye Li watched the radiant girl stride toward him.
She drew near, her bright eyes softly closing, and then he felt a soft, moist sensation on his face.
"Thank you, Li~"
"Gwen."
Ye Li reached out to stroke her silky blonde hair. "You seem to have something on your mind lately."
"I'm just a little confused about some things," Gwen said, tilting her head cutely.
"But the problem's resolved now." She leaned her head against Ye Li's palm.
"That's good."
Ye Li smiled as he gently supported Gwen, bringing her closer to him.
Their two figures intertwined once again.
"Eww~"
Jessica felt awkward watching.
Darn it!
They've been kissing for so long without even taking a breath.
Jessica pretended to cover her eyes, but the gaps between her fingers were wide open.
Finally, Gwen, worried that Ye Li might run out of breath, pulled away on her own.
"Li, this feels really nice~"
Her face was flushed, and she playfully stuck out her tongue slightly, looking very excited.
Buzz——!
Spider-sense?
Danger!
Ye Li reacted faster than Gwen, rolling on the ground with her in his arms.
In the next moment, a figure with metal wings swept past where they had just been.
It scraped against the car, causing sparks to fly, before crashing into the ground not far away.
Fortunately, Ye Li, knowing the dangers of New York, had his car custom-made.
At the moment, the car only had a scratch and no serious damage.
Sitting in his arms, Gwen touched her head in confusion: Why didn't I sense that? Did the kiss make me lose focus?
Ye Li turned his head to study the bird-like figure that had fallen nearby. He quickly retrieved the information from his mind—
Adrian Toomes, a supervillain from Spider-Man. Formerly a renowned electronics engineer, he was wrongfully imprisoned by corporate elites and turned to crime, creating his own flight suit and becoming the Vulture.
It didn't seem like a flight malfunction—he looked like he'd been struck out of the air.
But with Gwen nearby, which superhero could have beaten him?
Ye Li curiously glanced in the direction Vulture had been flung from—it was a tall building.
Through one of the shattered floor-to-ceiling windows, a towering, muscular bald man in a suit was just turning to leave…
"Li, Gwen! Are you guys okay? I was so scared!" Jessica ran over.
Gwen snapped out of it and replied, "We're fine, Jessica, thanks to Li."
Ye Li leaned close to Gwen's ear and whispered, "Gwen, I think we should leave here first."
"Yeah, let me get up first."
After she sat up,
Gwen glanced at the Vulture, who had taken off again.
I should be the one protecting Li!
She puffed out one cheek angrily.
Just wait until I put on my suit—I'll deal with you, you reckless flyer!
"Kingpin—!"
The Vulture didn't care about the two pedestrians he almost crushed and instead roared toward the building.
With a boost from the turbines on his wings, he quickly darted back inside.
Ye Li narrowed his eyes.
The Vulture… Kingpin...
....
Night fell.
On a brightly lit skyscraper, a darkly clad hero stood, his coat flapping in the wind.
It was Ye Li, now wearing the Knight Spider battle suit.
The Knight Spider battle suit had a color scheme resembling Venom's, but with an added hooded coat draped over it, making it look like a matching set with Ghost Spider's suit.
The suit even played an intense BGM internally, making Ye Li feel like he'd wandered onto the set of a Kamen Rider shoot by mistake.
