American Comics: The Girl Next Door is Spider-Gwen

Chapter 13: Coulson's Confusion! Gwen Takes on Two!

"...My name is Skye, handsome. Are you called Ye Li?"

Although Ye Li seems harder to get along with than expected.

But Skye still tried to start a conversation, "I heard you taught at a school. Should I call you teacher?"

"Skye?"

Ye Li sat up straight, his gaze scanning the beauty in front of him.

After confirming her stunning looks, he smiled, "Miss, are you interested in becoming a superhero?"

Seeing Ye Li finally respond, Skye brushed her hair aside and smiled, "Is this a fun quiz to join the club?"

Both were intrigued by each other and gradually became engrossed in the conversation.

However, the people in line behind them couldn't bear it and started protesting.

"Oh~"

Skye said apologetically, "It seems we've upset the crowd."

She handed Ye Li her contact information, making a phone gesture by her ear, "Let's chat later, Li~"

"I have an idea. You can sit in the waiting area for a while."

Ye Li asked Skye to wait briefly and got up to enter the club's interior.

Inside, Peter and Ned were curiously examining various "Ghost Spider" themed outfits.

The manpower has arrived, hasn't it?

Ye Li enthusiastically walked over, "Hey, Peter, Ned. I bet you're eager to prove yourselves as new club members, right?"

"Of course, Li. Is there anything I can do?"

Peter raised his camera, "I can take photos. Maybe I can capture shots of the Ghost Spider."

"No, no, no. That's too dangerous, Peter. Wherever the Ghost Spider appears, there are criminals."

Ye Li patted his shoulder, "I've got a simpler and easier task for you. Oh, and Ned can join too."

A few minutes later.

Peter and Ned, sitting at the membership registration desk, exchanged helpless glances and then looked at the middle-aged man signing up.

Peter: "Name."

Ned: "Age."

Coulson: "..."

Since Skye, who had been under S.H.I.E.L.D.'s watch, wanted to join this club, Coulson took some time to come here. But these two young men didn't seem very welcoming.

Can they even recruit members like this?

Or is something fishy going on... Maybe they're just using the club as a front for something else, which is why they aren't eager to recruit members?

Hmm, it might be related to the Ghost Spider. His agent instincts told him to have someone thoroughly investigate this place.

..

This place is really nice, Li.

Skye surveyed her surroundings.

Ye Li brought her to an upscale café to continue their conversation. The ambiance was full of artistic charm, with the sound of a piano solo flowing melodiously, and various art pieces decorating the space.

Skye moved a little closer to Ye Li and asked softly, "I know this might be a bit rude to the café's owner, but I'm really curious—Li, are those paintings real or fake?"

"The one in the corner, encased in a bulletproof glass frame—'Morning in Vienna'—is authentic."

"And also 'Moon' in the main hall, and 'The Bat' behind the reception desk..."

Ye Li spoke with precision and familiarity, "Apart from those, the rest are decorative pieces. Putting authentic works by the window would be ridiculous—it'd only benefit thieves and robbers."

"As expected from a PhD in Arts."

Skye took a small bite of the cherry cake in front of her and smiled brightly, "You could tell all that with just one glance—impressive~"

Excellent men always attract attention. Her tone carried a hint of admiration.

"The main reason, actually, is—"

Ye Li gestured for the pianist to switch to a more romantic tune. "This café is mine."

Skye froze for a moment, then scooped up some cake and fed it to him. "You're so bad—were you trying to see me make a fool of myself?"

"Mmph..."

Ye Li was just about to say something.

[Detected nearby: Gwen Stacy's destined enemy—'Green Goblin' Norman Osborn]

[Detected nearby: Gwen Stacy's destined enemy—'Rhino' Aleksei Sytsevich]

Huh?

Before he could react.

A figure crashed through the café's glass door, shook its rhino-like head, and charged out again. "Spider! Damn it!"

"Oh!" Skye covered her mouth. "I recognize him—that's the super-criminal Rhino! He was on the news!"

"I guess we'll have to continue this conversation another time."

Ye Li walked to the shattered glass door and looked outside. "I need to take care of things here first."

Skye slung her small bag over her shoulder. "Are you going to call the police, Li? How about leaving with me first? It's not safe here."

Call the police?

George can't handle this kind of thing. Saving his daughter is up to me.

Ye Li had already spotted Gwen swinging between tall buildings in the distance.

Norman Osborn, riding his Goblin Glider, was in hot pursuit. It seemed Gwen's enemies weren't just limited to one.
