Chapter 616: 217, Heading towards the White House_3

Donnie earnestly said to Pan Xing, "I'm just angry now because my own abilities are not enough, and I can't help more people!" Pan Xing consoled, "That's already quite an accomplishment, others should feel ashamed under the influence of your actions, Donnie!" Subsequently, Donnie discussed with Pan Xing about the purchase of weapons... Donnie didn't trust the security in the United States, as everyone knows that convenience stores are often robbed here, just look at A&P, it was robbed over a hundred times last year. Therefore, convenience stores must have weapons, a handgun and a rifle! Moreover, since United States Logistics had increased its workforce, naturally, the number of trucks also needed to be increased, so weapons were essential! Pan Xing had no objections to this, and out of gratitude to Donnie, he immediately signed off on selling a batch of brand-new weapons, which the army had just purchased, to Donnie at almost a giveaway price! Having come to Washington, it was naturally impossible to leave immediately after meeting Pan Xing. Actually, as soon as Donnie stepped out of Pan Xing's office, he encountered Marshall who had been waiting there. Upon seeing Donnie, Marshall gave him a big hug! "What happy event has occurred?" Donnie patted Marshall on the shoulder and teased with a smile. "Let's talk outside!" Marshall said joyfully. "Then let's go to the hotel where I'm staying!" The two left the U.S. Army building, got into Donnie's car, and went straight to the hotel where Donnie was staying. "My appointment has come down!" Marshall said to Donnie with a smile. Donnie congratulated, "This is indeed something to celebrate, I was thinking you wouldn't be assigned elsewhere until next year!" Marshall smiled awkwardly and said, "Indeed, I have to wait until next year to leave, but General Pan Xing has already told me where I'll be going!" By next year, Pan Xing's term would be up, and then he would step down from his position as Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army. For someone like Marshall, having command experience with combat troops is a very important part of his resume! "Where to?" Donnie asked. "The East!" Marshall told Donnie. Donnie was taken aback, sure that Marshall's experience had changed as well. In another timeline, after Pan Xing's retirement, Marshall indeed had gone to field units and spent a year there before being sent to the East, but this time that year of experience had been skipped. "What's wrong?" Seeing Donnie silent, Marshall asked curiously. "Nothing!" Donnie said with a smile, "In Atlantic City, there are also some people from the East, I've heard them talk about their country, and I know it's a magical nation. I just didn't expect you would actually go there!" There were indeed some Eastern faces in Atlantic City, though not many, and for reasons unknown, Donnie rarely interacted with them. However, it could be said that these people were living the best lives of all the Eastern faces in the United States. Marshall laughed, "I have been learning Chinese lately, I just don't know if I can get used to the life there!" Donnie clearly didn't want to discuss this matter... He only laughed and said, "There will definitely be some discomfort, but I think you'll eventually get used to it!" After thinking for a while, Donnie didn't say anything more, perhaps when he truly got involved in the arms industry in the future, he could provide some weapons for the ancestors there! At least so they wouldn't have such a hard time in the early stages! As for the United States side... If there's money to be made, nobody would care about these things! It was because Marshall brought up this matter that Donnie started thinking about many past events, which left him in not a very good mental state for the following period. Seeing Donnie's condition, Marshall didn't stay long, and only told Donnie that before leaving Washington, they must sit down for a good talk, and then he left! "What's wrong?" After Marshall left, Helen looked at Donnie worriedly. In her memory, Donnie had never been like this before! "It's nothing!" Donnie leaned on Helen's shoulder and said with a laugh, "Actually, if I hate certain people, not the place!" Helen, understandingly, didn't inquire about the sudden statement from Donnie, she just made it more comfortable for him to lean on her. When Donnie fell asleep, Helen picked up the phone and postponed the rest of Donnie's schedule for the day. Without another word that night, when Donnie woke up, the sunshine had already spilled into the room! After stretching, Donnie got off the bed full of vigor. "When Marshall left, I should have said something to him, I can't believe I forgot!" Donnie scratched his head and said somewhat helplessly. In turbulent times, there's always a chaotic price to pay. One matter that still remained a regret for many was the countless Eastern treasures that were lost overseas during this era. Donnie felt that he should use Marshall's identity to get hold of some of these national treasures! Of course, Donnie had his own ulterior motives in this. No one understood the future market of the East better than Donnie. Once the East became stable and developed, he could use these national treasures as an entry ticket. He was sure to gain full friendship, and with his previous ideas... well, the Block Family could have a huge market in the East then!
