Chapter 540: 198. The internal situation of the IRS and the problem with Surf Hotel

Coshek Kevin was born the second year after the famous Civil War broke out in the United States.

However, this civil war was actually of no concern to Coshek Kevin, as he was born into a factory owner's family in California.

Thanks to his family's favorable conditions, he was provided an environment conducive to his studies, and he became the first university graduate in his family, earning a Bachelor of Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Master of Laws in Tax Law from New York University.

By the way, what Coshek Kevin majored in for his Master of Laws was indeed tax law!

After graduating from university, Coshek Kevin successively joined several law firms, including Hobbes, Walter, and Wolman Law Firm, mainly to help clients resolve tax disputes.

This allowed him to come into contact with taxpayers of all kinds, from multinational corporations to small businesses, and from super-rich individuals to those of low income.

During this period, Coshek Kevin also held several social positions, including chairman of the Federal Tax Advisory Committee, vice-chairman of the Tax Lawyer's Division of the American Bar Association, and dean of the American Tax Law Institute, among others.

It was this experience that ultimately led Coshek Kevin to smoothly join the IRS, becoming the Deputy Commissioner of the IRS.

"Actually, with his experience, it wouldn't just be Deputy Commissioner—he could directly parachute into being the Commissioner of the IRS without any problem!"

Robert looked at the information he had gathered about Coshek Kevin and enviously said.

You can't help but envy, some people are destined to make others jealous from the moment they are born.

Robert thought about what his life would have been like without Donnie. He probably would have been destined to spend his whole life in Elwood Village, and that was a life he had fought for on the battlefield.

And there was Coshek Kevin, whose affluent life from birth was already set, and if he became the Commissioner of the IRS in the future, then he would be touching the very tip of the pyramid of power in the United States!

"It's really true that 'comparing people with others will only make you miserable, and comparing goods will only lead to discarding them!'"

Donnie looked at Robert's dejected figure and chuckled, "Don't worry, I believe, if you and Coshek Kevin were both thrown into a brothel, in the end, it would be you climbing out, and Coshek Kevin would have to be carried out!"

"Haha!" Robert immediately laughed out loud, "I'd walk out!"

After the laughter, Donnie shook his head and said, "That's not enough, this is just basic information about Coshek Kevin. If in these past few months all you've investigated is this stuff, I would think less of you!"

Robert immediately said, "Of course there's more. Recently, I've investigated all of Coshek Kevin's relationships and I found something very interesting about him!"

Donnie nodded, "What is it?"

Robert replied, "Even though he's married, he actually prefers men. His relationship with Congressman Rudenessey Cecil is out of the ordinary. They often sneak in and out of hotels in Washington together, and they spend the night each time. Later, when they checked out, I had someone sneak into their room and discovered that it was indeed very crazy!"

Donnie clicked his tongue, not surprised that Coshek Kevin didn't like women but preferred men. After all, in the United States, especially in politics, such things are all too common—the most famous being Hoover. What genuinely surprised Donnie was... "If I remember correctly, isn't Coshek Kevin 62 years old now?"

Robert nodded and said, "That's right!"

"Is he still able to...?" Donnie couldn't help but inquire curiously.

Robert, stroking his chin, said, "Rudenessey Cecil is a bit younger at 56. I think, maybe, probably, Coshek Kevin...?"

Donnie nodded, "That's the only possibility!"

Robert somewhat awkwardly adjusted his posture, while Donnie opened his eyes wide, watching Robert warily.

Robert's face instantly flushed, and he said loudly, "What are you thinking? I don't have that kind of preference!"

"Heh!" Donnie gave Robert a knowing cold chuckle of his own.

Robert wanted to explain further, but Donnie immediately gestured, "Let's talk business!"

Robert reluctantly looked at Donnie and continued, "Apart from that, I've reviewed many of Coshek Kevin's statements and the cases he handled as a lawyer and found something that might really be useful to us."

Donnie immediately asked, "Which case?"

Robert replied, "15 years ago, when Coshek Kevin was a partner at Wolman Law Firm, he handled a case where a factory owner in California was suspected of tax evasion and was targeted by the IRS. This factory owner had some business dealings with Coshek Kevin's family, so Coshek Kevin became his legal representative."

With Coshek Kevin intervening, the factory owner's case was naturally resolved smoothly. But what's interesting is that two years ago, this factory owner was prosecuted again, not for tax evasion but for allegedly funding American Bolsheviks!

Donnie's eyes glittered. To many, these two events seemed completely unrelated, with more than a decade between them. However, Robert made a special mention of this, which meant there had to be more to it.

As expected, Robert provided Donnie with new information. It turns out that 15 years ago, Coshek Kevin had publicly expressed support for the Bolsheviks in a newspaper!
