Chapter 537: 197. IRS investigation of Donnie_2

"Archido, although you've just recently joined the IRS, your capabilities are clear to everyone," he said. "That's why I need you to investigate Donnie's tavern businesses in Atlantic City so we can figure out his pricing on alcohol sales and deduce his profit margins."

Dioge Obama nodded along with Archido Bowen, and Dioge, curious, asked Rene Meier, "Boss, what will you do?"

Rene replied, "Donnie's brewery is in Elwood Village, in the United States. That place is a tough nut to crack. The Bureau of Investigation has sent many agents to Elwood Village to investigate, without success. I'm going to take another look at the situation there!"

Upon hearing that Rene Meier was heading to Elwood Village, both Archido Bowen and Dioge Obama looked at him with admiration.

Elwood Village had long been on the IRS's radar, and it wasn't an exaggeration to say that Elwood Village had become one of the wealthiest villages in the entire United States.

Theoretically, such a village could provide a substantial tax revenue for the IRS each year, but the reality was that Elwood Village hadn't provided much tax revenue to the IRS annually!

The IRS couldn't accept such an outcome. They knew that you were brewing alcohol in violation of the U.S. Constitution, but we at the IRS don't care what kind of business generates your income; what we care about is why you aren't paying taxes after making an income!

So the IRS has not stopped sending agents to Elwood Village for investigations over the past two years, but the truth is, Elwood Village is impregnable, and their agents simply can't obtain any information there.

As for approaching banks... forget it. Donnie's speakeasy business spans the entire nation, having connections at every level. Even though the IRS holds significant power in the United States, they are not a separate entity outside the U.S. government system. If they dare to openly investigate Donnie, it will surely provoke strong backlash, and the pressure they would face would be immense.

Therefore, the IRS has decided, from top to bottom, to investigate Donnie privately first and, after obtaining concrete evidence, then figure out how to investigate Donnie's bank accounts.

After Rene Meier had handed out tasks, he specially reminded Archido Bowen, "Archido, not only do you need to thoroughly investigate the situation in all of Block's taverns, but more importantly, I hope you can win over some of the people close to Donnie. If you can accomplish this, it would be a great achievement!"

Archido Bowen nodded seriously, "Understood; I'll definitely try my best to complete this mission!"

"Very good!" Rene clapped his hands, encouraging the three of them, "Although this mission is challenging, we should understand that the more challenging the mission, the greater the rewards will be upon completion. Plus, you don't have to worry, it's not just us in action. In fact, many colleagues are also on the move, investigating mob bosses in other cities, hoping to find a breakthrough with them. This time, we'll make them understand: In the United States, no matter what your business is, legal or illegal, you must pay taxes to the IRS!"

Archido Bowen and Dioge Obama both nodded, expressing their determination to complete this task!

Thus, the IRS's investigation targeted at Donnie began at that moment!

What Rene Meier and Dioge Obama did not expect was that after they started their investigation according to plan, Archido Bowen quietly made his way to the Surf Hotel. Under Robert's guidance, through a special passage, he met with Donnie Block!

"I knew the IRS would definitely investigate, but I didn't expect them to start looking into this matter now!"

After meeting Donnie, Archido Bowen relayed the entire IRS's plan to him.

After sighing, Donnie said to Archido Bowen with a smile, "I didn't expect that in less than a year after joining the IRS, you would already be involved in this task!"

Before joining the IRS, Archido Bowen had another identity. He was once a sergeant in the U.S. Army's Third Infantry Division but still didn't escape the U.S. Army's massive downsizing. Without any connections, after his discharge, Archido struggled to get by on his service pay. Eventually, Robert chose him, and he became one of the twenty undercover agents Donnie sent to organizations like the IRS and the Bureau of Investigation.

Archido Bowen laughed, "I have to thank Mr. Block for this. Without the ample intelligence and funds you provided, I wouldn't have achieved such good results at the IRS in such a short time!"

The IRS certainly didn't expect that one of the agents they sent to investigate Donnie was actually Donnie's man. In such a case, if Donnie were to be thoroughly investigated by the IRS, it would be a huge joke indeed!

Robert worriedly said, "The IRS has put so much effort and resources into this, and they've sent out quite a few of their agents to investigate mob bosses nationwide. It's clear that they are determined to uncover something substantial in this matter!"

Archido Bowen nodded, "Exactly, before we came here, the director specifically instructed us to take as long as necessary to thoroughly investigate Mr. Block's speakeasy business revenue, as well as the taxes and fines that should be paid!"
