chapter 3
Episode 3 Arrived at the meadow
I put the request the owner gave me into my inside pocket and headed to the market.
Every time I ran, the scabbard on my waist touched my belt and made a metallic sound.
This sound and the feeling of wearing a scabbard are still awkward. Not too long ago, he was a child helping out in the fields in a poor mountain village.
One day, my parents sold it to reduce their mouth.
I can still vividly see the happy faces of my parents who received the money.
… It was much better for the master who bluntly took the silver coin I gave him.
The armor is heavy. The metal was only on the chest and hands, but it was still heavy on the girl’s body.
Quickly out of breath, I stopped running and started walking.
We still have a little more to go to the market.
Throughout the walk, many thoughts came to my mind.
The biggest question among them was ‘Why did the owner buy me?’
It doesn’t fit the master’s purpose at all. There was also a man in the slave market who seemed to be good at tough jobs, and he bought me without hesitation.
Being sold to a man, I thought he would do unspeakable things….
He never dreamed that he would hand over weapons and armor and tell them to become adventurers and earn money.
Which path was the happier? . It was a very difficult problem for me.
The owner at least takes care of a warm bed and meals.
He blindly asked me to become an adventurer, but he gave me just as good equipment.
He treated me much better than the place where he sold me. That was clear.
A bit naughty, he seems to have a bad personality.
If you listen closely, you’ll probably be fine. Because there doesn’t seem to be any malice.
After thinking about this and that, I arrived at the market.
The market opens early. The sun rises and the stalls are preparing for business for those who head to work. A store selling ingredients is also open.
The price the master gave me was 2 silver coins. If you eat at the stalls, you can buy hot soup and stuffed bread for one silver coin. Let’s leave the rest for now. Mine is the owner’s soon, so it doesn’t mean much. The silver coin received as a souvenir was kept in the room.
I received braised lamb, rye bread with herbs, and meatball soup from my lively grandfather. The soup was put in an empty water bottle in the backpack, so the price of the bowl was solid.
I left the market and headed for the door leading to the meadow.
Because I was hungry, I wanted to walk while eating rye bread, but what if I dropped it….’ I promised later.
The gate to the meadow is small, and few people come and go.
There were also two gatekeepers, and they seemed free.
I showed them the request form and the adventurer certificate and left the village.
Outside was a large windmill, a river and a road.
When I was sold in the mountain village, I never thought I would be able to go outside.
I was hesitant to just run away, but it’s useless since I can’t even get a job as long as I have a bracelet on my right hand. I’m just glad I have a place to go back to.
If you walk along the road and fall into a side road in the middle, you will see a meadow.
I was a bit nervous, but it’s better than yesterday when I was suddenly sent to the labyrinth.
I fixed my backpack and headed to the meadow.
When I was a little tired, I kept walking along the side road I found, and the place I reached was definitely a meadow.
Endless blue sky and white clouds. There is only green grass and trees on the ground.
For me, who grew up with only mountains, it was a majestic sight that took my breath away.
After staring at it for a while, I came to my senses at the sound of the shaking of the blades of grass.
I took out the request form from my inner pocket and looked it over again.
I still can’t read the text, but as the owner said, there are pictures.
There were a total of 3 requests.
The first quest is collecting herbs. Collect herbs with yellow petals and bluish leaves and stems.
The second request has a picture of a black snake. It’s like cutting your head off to prove it.
The last request… There is a picture of a new monster. It wasn’t about defeating them, it was about counting how many.
I don’t know the purpose, but it’s a request from the master. As a slave, I only get it done. You have to do that. I don’t even want to think about what would happen if I failed.
I took a deep breath once or twice to clear my mind and drew my sword.
He didn’t have to exert much effort.
It still feels unfamiliar. He can handle a sword he couldn’t normally hold as if it were part of his body.
It’s not without weight, but considering its original weight, it’s as light as a feather.
A weapon prepared for me by the master.
I swung my sword at the black snake I had just found.
The body and head of the snake were easily split in two.
The torso wriggles, but it’s disgusting, so let’s just leave it alone.
I put the head of a snake in one of the sacks in my backpack.
I look around and see another snake. Its movements are slow for a snake. He swung his sword and defeated him.
The more monsters you kill, the stronger you become. I learned that from the Adventurer’s Guild.
But I don’t feel that way at all. Is it because it’s a low-level monster? If you keep walking in place, your master may be disappointed.
So what happens….
I swung my sword again and again whenever I saw a snake.
―It’s strange. Even if there are many snakes, there are too many.
I saw a hill that was a little high, and when I moved there, the meadow came into view at a glance.
… There are black snakes all over the place. There were bones under my feet. If you put it together, maybe a new shape will come out.
Chills ran down my spine from an unknown cool energy.
There are also a few herbs. Let’s follow it
The scenery was beautiful, but I had no appetite.
