Chapter 33: Mysterious Meteor
Logan opened his eyes, still reeling from the events with Ultron. He glanced around his room, his senses quickly kicking in. Natasha was still tied to the bed, just as he had left her before everything happened. Her calm breathing assured him she was in a deep sleep.
His thoughts shifted back to Laura, and without hesitation, Logan reached into his landline phone, quickly dialing her number.
"Where are you?" he asked the moment she answered.
A soft chuckle came through the phone. "On your right."
Logan turned his head just as a portal opened, the otherside of the portal revealing the familiar setting of Selene's home. Without wasting a second, he stepped through it.
On the other side, Selene, Jean, and Laura were sitting comfortably on the couch. Laura, wearing a sling ring, gave him a warm smile as Logan strode toward her without a word. Kneeling in front of her, he placed a hand gently on her stomach, searching her eyes for confirmation.
With a soft nod from Laura, Logan's lips curled into a smile. He hugged her tightly, lifting her into the air and began to spin around, his emotions flooding him with joy.
"Careful, Logan," Selene's voice chimed in with a playful warning. "She's pregnant."
Logan set Laura down gently, immediately pulling her into a passionate kiss. After kissing for sometime, he broke the kiss and hugged her and whispered "Thank you" in her ear.
For sometime, they stood in each other's embrace. After a while, Logan led her to sit down.
"Congratulations on becoming a father," Jean and Selene said in unison, their faces reflecting genuine happiness.
Logan chuckled but was still visibly confused. "But… how did this happen? I mean, with her healing factor… well, you know, my sperm didn't exactly—"
Selene grinned knowingly. "I prepared a spell for this a few years ago. Laura knew she would want to be a mother someday. She just needed to be ready. Once she was, she activated the spell… and, well, here we are. She wanted to surprise you."
Logan turned to Laura in astonishment, his eyes widening.
Laura simply smiled, giving him a mischievous wink. The room erupted into laughter, and they all shared some light-hearted moments and jokes, the tension easing away as joy filled the space.
Suddenly, Selene's phone rang, cutting through the conversation. She answered, her expression turning serious as she listened to the voice on the other end. Hanging up, she turned to Logan.
"Logan, we need to go. Something has come up," Selene said, her tone firm.
Logan kissed Laura and then Jean. "I'll be back soon." then he moved towards Selene who is standing few feet away from them.
Selene touched Logan's shoulder, and in an instant, they disappeared from the room, leaving Laura and Jean behind.
Laura turned to Jean, her expression teasing. "You're next, you know."
Jean's cheeks flushed a deep red. "Laura!" she protested, but Laura only laughed, enjoying the moment.
----------
On the other side, Logan and Selene arrived at the Whitehaven headquarters. Emily greeted them at the entrance, her expression serious as she led them toward a private room.
"What's going on?" Logan asked, sensing the heaviness in the air.
Emily filled him in. "Thomas fell in love with a human, but he doesn't want her to be turned."
Logan was confused. Thomas, one of his most loyal betas, was responsible for training new recruits and helping them control their powers. He was dedicated and respected the pack deeply. For him to ask for something like this was surprising, to say the least.
As they entered the room, they found Thomas sitting beside a blonde woman who clung to his arm. Upon seeing Logan, Thomas stood up, ready to explain.
"So, Thomas mind telling me, What happened?" Logan asked as he stood infront of Thomas.
"I fell in love with Jasmine," Thomas began, glancing at the woman beside him. "She's a doctor from New York. I knew she was my mate, and over time, we got to know each other. I confessed my feelings, and she accepted me. We've been together ever since."
Logan crossed his arms, his eyes narrowing slightly. "So what's the problem?"
Thomas sighed deeply. "I told her who I really am… but I don't want to live as a werewolf anymore. I want to be human. I want to grow old with her, live and die like humans do. She taught me that."
Logan studied the pair, for a moment he felt like he is watching some Korean/Chinese drama where the main character who is not human wanting to turn into human so that he can live with his loved one.
Thomas had always been proud of being a werewolf, but love had clearly changed his priorities.
Selene raised an eyebrow. "Thomas, you've always taken pride in our way of life. Why now?"
Thomas glanced at Jasmine before responding. "I did. But she changed everything for me. I want to be with her, not just for a lifetime, but in the way humans do."
Logan took in the scene before him, seeing the genuine love between the two of them. He turned to Selene and Emily, who were waiting for his decision.
"If he doesn't want to be a werewolf anymore, then we'll strip him of his powers. But that means he'll also have to lose his memories of the pack too—permanently."
Thomas nodded, accepting Logan's decision with gratitude. He and Jasmine both thanked Logan before he turned to Selene, giving her the signal to begin the process.
"Emily," Logan said, turning to her. "I have to talk to you. Let's go outside."
Logan and Emily left the room, leaving Selene to complete the ritual. She gestured Thomas to come infront of her, once he is in position, she began chanting with her hand resting on Thomas's chest.
He screamed in agony as the spell took hold, stripping away his powers.
It is quite a complex spell and if one mistake happened in the middle, one could loose their life, but Selene is not an ameture. She performed the spell perfectly and once done, Thomas kneeled, sweating like crazy.
Jasmine came to help him up, "Are you okay?" She asked with concern. He just nodded at her and smiled weakly.
After resting for sometime he asked Selene to start again. Selene then placed her hand on both of their heads and erased the memories of his time with the pack and Jasmine's knowledge about the pack.
Meanwhile outside of the room, Logan began to explain to Emily who stood infront of him, "You have a new task now—taking care of Laura. She's pregnant and will need your help. Both of us are going to be there for her."
Emily smiled after hearing the news. "Congratulations, Logan."
But soon asked "Then who will manage the pack affairs... Laura needs to rest, Both you and me will be there for her. Selene is busy with the company."
"Sebastian will do it." Hearing his reply Emily is shocked, Sebastian, one of the Strongest if not the strongest beta in the pack.
He is absolutely loyal to Logan and will do anything Logan asks him to do.
He always wanted to be used of Logan, So he asked to be his butler who will be incharge of both of houses of Logan in New York and Whitehaven.
"Do you think he'll agree?" She asked unsure about that.
"If I ask him to do it, do you think he'll refuse."
"Not in a million years." Her reply was immediate, everyone in the pack knows about the loyalty of Sebastian, even if Logan tells him to kill himself, he'll do it without a second thought.
Logan then stood near the window, looking out over the horizon, deep in thought.
Emily clears her throat softly, breaking the silence. "It's... strange, isn't it?" she asks, "To think someone would give up being one of us willingly."
Logan nods, still looking ahead. "People want different things. Thomas found something that matters more to him than being a werewolf."
Emily nods, but her gaze is fixed on him. "And what about you, Logan? If you had the chance... would you ever give it up?"
He turns to her with a small, thoughtful smile. "Nope. I've lived long enough to see things come and go. Right now, the only thing that matters to me is Laura, our child and my family."
Emily smiles softly. "She's lucky to have you." Then she chuckles. "And I'll be in charge of her from now on, huh?"
Logan smirks. "You'll manage. Besides, you're the only one I trust with this."
As they continue walking, Logan's phone vibrates. He looks at the screen, seeing a message from Hank. It simply reads: "Need you back at the lab. It's important."
Logan sighs, sliding the phone back into his pocket. "Looks like the break's over," he mutters.
Selene emerges from the room, looking slightly drained but satisfied. "It's done," she announces. "Thomas is no longer a werewolf. He'll live his life as a normal human from now on."
Logan nods. "Good. Make them employees of our company and take care of them." Selene and Emily nodded at his orders.
With that done, he asks Emily to open a portal to Hank's lab wondering happened there.
Soon, a portal opened infront of him revealing the laboratory of Hank on the other side, just as he was about to head inside, he paused and turned to Selene and asks "What happened with the thing I told you, is it done?"
Selene smiles at him "You can come to my house tonight, it is done."
Logan nods and enters the portal which closes afterwards.
----------
As Logan entered Hank's lab in Whitehaven, the sight before him was intriguing. Hank McCoy was intently studying a massive rock that was roughly the size of a small cabin.
Logan raising an eyebrow asked "What's this about, Hank?"
Hank without looking up said, "This, my friend, is a meteor. Fell just outside of New York near our base. The material is fascinating—definitely not from around here." he tapped the rock gently "But here's the kicker, inside there's a hollow space. Something was in here, but it's gone now."
Logan stepped closer to the meteor, a strange sense of familiarity creeping up on him. He studied the meteor with narrowed eyes, but no memory clicked.
Logan gruffly says, "Feels like I've seen something like this before, but I can't place it."
Hank nodding thoughtfully, "It's definitely unique. Could be connected to some extraterrestrial alien. We need to run more tests."
They discussed the strange meteor for a while, trying to piece together what it could mean.
Despite the feeling gnawing at Logan, they couldn't figure out what had been inside the hollow space.
Logan, sighing decided to think about it later, "Keep me posted if you find anything. I'm heading to check on someone. She's about to wake up."
After their discussion, Logan left Hank's lab, speeding off to his house nearby. Approaching one of the Zeta werewolves chatting with his friends, without wasting time he gave a quick command.
"Open a portal to my house in New York."
He was getting increasingly frustrated by having to rely on others to teleport him. But he had plans to solve that problem, tonight will be the end of this problem.
The Zeta wolf nodded and opened the portal, and Logan stepped through without hesitation.
Appearing outside his New York home, Logan blurred into his speed and arrived in his bedroom, where Natasha still appeared to be sleeping. Smiling to himself, he crossed his arms and leaned against the doorway.
Logan with a teasing tone said, "You can stop pretending, Red. I know you're awake... and you've already broken free from those restraints."
For a moment, there was no movement. Logan, undeterred, chuckled softly.
"If you don't wake up, I might have to start doing some funny things to you."
Immediately Natasha's eyes snapped open, and she sprang forward with the grace and precision of a panther. In her hand was a sharp silver needle aimed directly at him.
But Logan was faster. In a blur, he restrained her effortlessly, twisting her arms behind her back and pinning her against the wall.
Logan with his voice low, almost a growl, "Easy there, Red. We have a lot to talk about."
Natasha struggled briefly, her face slammed to the wall, before she stopped resisting and exhaled sharply.
Natasha began to smirk,"You sure know how to ruin a surprise, big guy."
Logan grinned at that comment, "Oh, I've had enough surprises for one day. Now, are you gonna behave, or do I need to keep you tied up a bit longer?"
Natasha with mockingly sweet tone, "Depends on what kind of 'funny things' you had in mind."
They both shared a brief, tense silence before Logan released her, and Natasha turned to face him with that trademark smirk still lingering on her lips. "So, what's next?"
Logan's expression turned serious, "We need to talk. How about starting with who are you guys and why did you attack me."
