Chapter 28
“The custom of the Castiano Marquis family is to always reside in the Eagle Dormitory. So, Lord Rey Castiano should be in the Eagle Dormitory as well.”
“The Eagle Dormitory… We’re almost there.”
“Hey, don’t you think we should go back? It’s one thing for you, Allen, but if I, just an ordinary magician, meet with a noble from one of the three great magical families, I could get arrested for disrespect.”
The phrase “three great families” made me think of something like Pok*mon, but to someone like Camille, a regular magician, the nobles of the three great magical families, like the Castiano family, were figures to be feared.
“A marquis’s heir… That’s not something normal… Shouldn’t we be meeting someone like a knight or maybe a baron who’s about to lose everything?”
As Camille grumbled to herself, muttering disrespectful things about both me and the nobility of this country, I kept walking, aiming for the place called the Eagle Dormitory.
The Eagle Dormitory was located on the opposite side, near the rear gate, after circling around from the main gate of Enfive Magic Academy.
At Enfibe Magic Academy, there are four dormitories: Lion, Water Serpent, Eagle, and Boulder Bear, each associated with the royal family or the three great magical families, where they traditionally reside.
Unlike the reddish Lion Dormitory, the Eagle Dormitory is a deep green building, with a sign at the entrance gate depicting a large eagle in dark green and yellow.
We passed by students walking to and from the dormitory, entered through the Eagle Dormitory gate, and stepped into its grounds.
The lobby of the Eagle Dormitory was as lavish as a luxury hotel. Even an amateur could recognize the high-class furnishings, and stationed at the front desk was a dedicated concierge.
“Excuse me, I would like to meet with Lord Rey Castiano, who resides in this dormitory.”
“May I ask for your name?”
“My name is Allen. This is my companion.”
When I inquired with the concierge waiting in the first-floor lobby, he asked for my name, and I answered truthfully.
“Yes, Lord Rey has instructed that if Mr. Allen arrives, you are to be taken to the second reception room. Please, follow me.”
The male concierge stepped out from behind the reception desk and guided us down a hallway to the left of the main entrance.
Though many servants were busy cleaning the corridors, we didn’t encounter any students residing in the dormitory.
“In about half an hour, Lord Rey should return to the dormitory. Until then, please wait in this room.”
“Understood.”
The concierge informed us that it was currently the time when classes were ending and students were returning home.
Looking at the clock in the reception room, I saw that it was just after 4:00 PM.
“…Are you okay?”
“Thank you for worrying about me… but unfortunately, no, I’m not okay.”
After the concierge left the reception room, closing the door behind him, I observed Camille, who had remained silent until now.
She seemed pale and nervous, clearly feeling unwell.
Seeing her trying to keep herself composed despite her discomfort made me feel a little guilty.
The two of us, Camille and I, sat in an awkward silence, listening to the ticking of the clock as we waited in the reception room for Rey Castiano’s return.
I could already hear the voices of students returning to the Eagle Dormitory from outside the room, so it likely wouldn’t be long until we were called to meet… At that moment—
*Click*
“It’s been a while since the market festival.”
The first person to enter was not Rey himself, but someone accompanying him.
Following behind, striding confidently into the room, was a boy with distinct pale golden hair—Rey Castiano himself.
“Yes, thank you for inviting me to such a place.”
“…”
I stood up from the sofa to greet Rey as he entered. Camille, who had been sitting beside me, also stood and bowed in silence, mimicking my actions.
“There’s no need for such formalities; I was the one who called you here.”
Rey waved his hand lightly, indicating that we didn’t need to worry about being too formal.
As we exchanged brief greetings, more people began entering the reception room. First, there were the guards who had been present at the market festival, followed by a student who seemed to be around Rey’s age.
“…Who are these people?”
“My friends, I suppose?”
Rey tilted his head slightly, almost as if questioning himself, and answered with a puzzled expression. I couldn’t help but think, “What’s that supposed to mean?” inwardly, but the other student who had entered the room seemed somewhat displeased.
“If you’ve called me here, I assume you have a good reason?”
The girl, who was addressing Rey in a manner that was either equal or, to an outsider, perhaps even slightly condescending, exuded a sharpness that was hard to ignore.
She had light blue hair, similar to Camille’s, but this girl’s hair had a frosty, almost white hue. Combined with her sharp eyes and manner of speech, she gave off a severe, stern aura.
“Don’t be so angry, Chris… This person might be able to fulfill your wish.”
“…What?”
With Rey’s cryptic remark, the girl’s—Chris’s—eyes grew even sharper. Her gaze carried an intensity that could probably kill a person, and it was certainly not the aura of a typical 15-year-old girl.
