Allen the Reincarnated Merchant: A Plan to Get Rich in Another World

Chapter 20

“Alright, all set.”

Thanks to the support I’ve received from President Ryugen, I’ve almost achieved my initial goal of becoming rich.

Living in prime real estate in the heart of the city, with hundreds of thousands of yen at my disposal each month, by the standards of someone born into an ordinary family like mine, I could be considered quite wealthy.

However, since this money was given to me by others, I can’t afford to be complacent. My goal is to become rich, but that requires a solid foundation to earn money through my own efforts.

Ideally, I’d like to own my own business, make a fortune on my own, and eventually retire in comfort with hired help for my old age.

Therefore, just because I’ve secured a stable environment in Japan doesn’t mean I can neglect the world of Asphial. Simply fulfilling the tasks given to me by Saiouji won’t be enough to move forward.

“Allen? The permit for the stall you mentioned the other day has arrived!”

I heard Ryuka’s voice from the lobby on the first floor.

“Here you go.”

“Thanks.”

It’s been a week since we arrived in the capital city. Unlike Eracton, the royal capital of Kainriese Kingdom, Reinburg, is always bustling with people coming and going, so it’s constantly crowded, and even at night, there are a decent number of people walking along the main streets.

Now that the moving process is complete, most of the team members leave the team house during the day to pursue their own activities. However, according to Saiouji, the team leader, it will still be a while before we start our activities as adventurers.

Even so, many team members are engaged in hunting around the capital or training.

As a result, the once bustling lobby on the first floor of the team house has become quiet and deserted.

Although most of the team members have left the team house, there are always a few who stay behind for security reasons. Today, Ryuka, who stayed up with me when we were on our way to the capital, is on guard duty, looking bored at the lobby reception desk.

“Isn’t 13-2 on the West Main Street right next to the noble district? Won’t that make it harder to operate?”

“No, this is actually the perfect location. Most of the items I’ve gathered for this stall are targeted at the nobility.”

In the capital, there’s a large-scale stall festival held once a week on the main streets that extend in all four directions—east, west, south, and north—like spokes from the center of the city.

Since the streets are very wide to accommodate the many people, including carriages, usually the established businesses along these streets conduct their trade, but during this stall festival, traveling merchants from outside can set up stalls on the main streets. This festival attracts merchants from all over, bringing rare goods.

In most towns, this kind of stall festival is a major event held only a few times a year, but in this populous capital, it’s held every week, which speaks to the prosperity of the city.

“This is my first time at the capital’s stall festival, so I’ll drop by your stall with everyone tomorrow.”

“Thanks! I’ll make sure to have the next volume of *Yume Koi* ready for you and the others, since you’ve been looking forward to it.”

“Really!? I’ll definitely come!”

I was relieved to find that the permit application I submitted in advance for setting up a stall at this stall festival had been approved.

The capital city is divided into five large districts, each with its own distinct characteristics.

For example, the southern district, where the Akatsuki Brigade’s team house is located, is a gathering place for adventurers. It has more workshops and inns than other areas and is always lively.

Because of its nature, the southern district is always busy with people from outside the city, making it the most dangerous area in terms of crime… but also, in a way, the most vibrant.

The location where I’ll be setting up my stall this time is in 13-2 on the West Main Street, which is in the western district.

Unlike the southern district, the western district is home to many established businesses that have been operating in the capital for a long time.

Another characteristic of the city is that the areas farther from the city center, starting from District 1 on the outer edge and moving closer to the central district, are numbered, with the numbers increasing the closer you get to the center. There are 15 such areas in total, and the 13th area where my stall is located is quite close to the central district.

The capital of Reinburg also has a special district surrounding the grand white castle, *Heinriese*, in the center. This central district is where the kingdom’s bureaucrats and nobles live, similar to Nagatacho in modern Japan.

This central district is separated from the other districts by a wall, making it a completely different world. It’s home to not only nobles but also renowned scholars and the heads of major businesses, so the large buildings that could be called mansions are spaced apart.

It’s the capital’s high-end residential area, you could say.

Given these special district divisions, even within the main streets of the eastern, western, southern, and northern districts, the closer to the central district, the more prestigious and influential the businesses are. This applies to the stall festival as well, where stalls closer to the central district tend to sell more expensive and rare items.

Thus, areas 1-7 are lined with stalls catering to the general public, while areas beyond 7 are dedicated to stalls dealing in luxury goods for the wealthy residents of the capital, creating a natural division.

(Some adventurous nobles are said to secretly visit the stall festival near the central district. If I can attract such customers and turn them into regulars, it would be a huge success…)

As for the other districts, the eastern district has many entertainment establishments, such as gambling dens and brothels, similar to what I saw in Eracton. The northern district, known as the student district, is home to national research institutes, military academies, and magic schools, so it doesn’t have much to do with me for now.

From that perspective, despite being a stall festival, each district’s characteristics are likely to be reflected to some extent. Given that, securing a spot in the western district on the 13th area of the main street, which is close to the central district and home to many long-established businesses, means I almost got exactly what I wanted.
