Chapter 15: 5

— We are the founding members of the Tarot Club! — Audrey suddenly looked at Zhou Mingriu with a hint of fear. — Could it be, Mr. Fool?

The Fool shook his head indifferently.

— You can decide these trivial matters.

 — Thank you very much! — Justice thanked her sincerely.

After a moment of silence, Audrey remembered the dozens of doubts she had about the mysterious world long before she was pulled up into this castle of gray mist. They were mainly about the mysterious Fourth Epoch, the Epoch of the Gods, which was almost entirely covered in a sea of imaginable mysteries.

From what she had secretly read in some ancient books she had found in the old part of her family's library, there were many things that had been lost to history. She even tried to look for more about the history of the Tudor Dynasty and the Solomon Empire, but it was as if she were trying to look for something nonexistent, something erased from all records.

With an expression that did not hide her doubts, she asked:

— I have many doubts about the history of this world, especially the Fourth Epoch. Is it true that Beyonder families reigned at that time?

Solveig sat up straight, listening attentively to everything that could be said at that moment.

The Hanged Man Alger is also interested in the hidden secrets of history, especially the enormous gaps that the Epoch of the Gods left in the understanding of the history of the world, but his thirst for knowledge was never so great that he acted recklessly at times when he should not.

In the Church of Storms, his superiors were completely strict with all of them due to the strong suspicion that they had betrayed the Church for riches.

Disagreeing with the Church was like disagreeing with the words of God, so he never revealed his hidden thoughts about the knowledge he had collected at sea.

Alger was quicker than the other members and began to explain:

— The history of the Fourth Epoch is full of Beyonders, mainly in the court and in the main families of the past eras that today have almost completely disappeared, whether due to betrayal, war, persecution by the Church or other ulterior motives. There was a war at some point in the Fourth Epoch, the War of the Four Emperors. It is not known why it happened, but its end brought about the Fifth Epoch, the Iron Age.

Audrey looked at The Hanged Man and the other members of the Tarot Club with confusion. She didn't wait for anyone to say anything and asked:

— War of the Four Emperors?

Medici silently reflected on this subject for a few seconds with some meaningless memories in his mind.

He remembered some information that he should never have known, however, the advisor of the Order Hunters accepted him even with so much mystery covering his life.

The knowledge was total blasphemy and he didn't doubt it, after all, he had no faith or loyalty to any deity.

With some thoughts, Medici said unhurriedly:

— It is not known exactly what the War of the Four Emperors was, but one of its main participants was Alista Tudor, the Blood Emperor of the Tudor Dynasty who perished in it like many others. At the end of the Age of the Gods, many families and empires fell into disgrace like Jacob and Tamara.

 — But there is something that was well-known to most of the official and unofficial Beyonders even back then, the Blasphemy Slate. It is said to hold unimaginable secrets that Emperor Roselle saw long ago.

Blasphemy? Why is it blasphemy? — Zhou Mingriu wondered inwardly.

Solveig remembered very well what she had heard from some Nighthawks about it some time ago. They said that the Blasphemy Slate had been created by Evil Gods.

However, she had heard something different from her brother. The Blasphemy Slate held secrets about the twenty-two divine paths.

After some conversation where the members shared some information about what they knew about the twenty-two cards that Emperor Roselle had created and that were later lost to the world,

Zhou Mingriu felt that this meeting was dragging on too long.

—Let's end it here.

Alger, Medici and Solveig bowed their heads respectfully and said in unison:

— As you wish.

—As you wish. — Audrey followed suit.

Everyone disappeared from the huge castle above the gray mist, except for the figure covered in the thick, hazy fog who remained seated, thoughtfully tapping his index finger on the long table.

This place is very strange. Should I try exploring it? — Zhou Mingriu pondered this for a while in indeterminate silence.

He silently rose from the seat of honor and didn't think much about it before looking behind the bench he was sitting on.

There was the symbol of a pupil-less eye with partially distorted intertwined lines.

It was the same symbol that was on the notebook!

On the floor, there was a majestic book with a pure white cover stained with drops of golden liquid that exuded a serene air.

He cautiously picked it up and placed it on the tarnished bronze table before opening the first yellowed page.

There is nothing written on it and no title. How did this come to be…

An ancient twilight glow began to rise like smoke from the pages.

At that moment, Zhou Mingriu's thoughts fell apart.

Hazy images began to tear through his mind, as if his brain had been thrown into a shredder.

He didn't hesitate to close the book immediately, his brow furrowed in pain as he leaned on the table with one hand, unable to stand up.

What… What was that?

I've courted death again… I've been doing that a lot lately. — Zhou Mingriu thought deprecatingly amidst the pain. His eyes narrowed slightly.

This book probably belongs to the gray mist… Could it have something to do with those Sealed Artifacts that Miss Strength mentioned? Well, she only said that they were mysterious objects that were supposed to be kept locked away underground…

What is this book?

Zhou Mingriu pondered for a few seconds before placing the book behind the chair again, a shiver rising all over his body.

Why does this book feel so strange to me?

What is this symbol of a pupilless eye? Does it represent the space above the mist? Isn't it like the sacred symbol of the Dark Goddess?

In fact, if there is something here then it means that there was someone before me… Who was it?

I can confirm now that this castle above the gray mist is related to transmigration and perhaps…

Celestial Worthy of Heaven and Earth?

Who is he?

He walked deeper into the gray mist without losing sight of the long tarnished bronze table. He wouldn't dare risk getting lost in that hazy fog that seemed endless.

After a moment, he saw a giant wolf with fur so black that it looked like darkness. Its flaming eyes were a brilliant crimson hue. Its mouth had a vortex of several sharp teeth in a milky color.

Wolf! — Zhou Mingriu immediately retreated after seeing the animal in front of him that lay down with its head lowered and its tail wagging happily as if it was waiting for a pet.

He was so surprised that he froze for a second.

Open-mouthed, Zhou Mingriu looked at the wolf that was larger than him again, his disbelief evident on his face.

Is this a trick?

It doesn't make sense, he's much bigger than me. One bite and I would have been swallowed alive!

The giant wolf continued to look at Zhou Mingriu with unparalleled excitement as he lay completely flat.

— What's wrong? — he asked cautiously as his expression changed imperceptibly.

Upon looking at Zhou Mingriu, the wolf stood up, running towards the depths of the gray mist again.

Did he run away?

Zhou Mingriu stared at the mist in amazement at the absurdity of what had happened.

Suddenly, two figures like enormous, pitch-black wolves appeared from a strange vortex formed by the mist.

Two?

The wolves didn't seem to be bothered by Zhou Mingriu's surprise and quickly lay down in front of him in complete joy.

They're like little puppies... Why are they acting like this? Also, where did they come from? Are they part of the gray mist too? Or do they live here?

He finally decided to return to reality at that moment.

Feeling a sense of falling, he returned to the room that remained silent.

The hours seemed to have passed normally, even after that strange meeting above a gray fog.

Zhou Mingriu looked at the pocket watch inside the drawer that was broken and opened it, seeing the image of a father and three brothers.

It was too expensive to take it to a watchmaker due to the current conditions that Klein and his brothers were living in, so they left it stored away, however Melissa was the only one who could actually fix it due to her interest in complicated machines.

Zhou Mingriu closed the drawer with anguish.

Beyonder... It might be possible that those police officers are officers and that means they might be looking for the notebook...

Thinking about it, those worms on the throne must be extraordinary creatures from the Beyonder world! Just like the wolves of the gray fog and my visions... But why? Why am I having visions? Shouldn't this only be from the Beyonders?

Furthermore, Will... He must be related to the Beyonder world... How is a child related to these oddities? And what about that boy from the World card?

He should wait for the next meetings to be able to gather more information...

He organized his thoughts in an indeterminate and absolute silence.

After a while, Zhou Mingriu muttered to himself with confusion and anguish mixed with agony:

— From this moment on, I am Klein.

He continued to think deeply about some issues, letting his worries sink into his mind.

This meeting will certainly help me a lot...

In the North Borough, at Saint Samuel Cathedral.

The capital was covered by cold winds that seemed to never end, as well as a gray fog that came out of the dozens of factories scattered all over the place.

Winter had arrived too soon.

Solveig absentmindedly glanced at the crowd of people hurrying past towards the church.

Everyone on the team was gathered together, and it wasn't long before they entered the sacred cathedral with stunning Gothic-style stained glass windows.

Her captain, Ewan, was as bright and cheerful as ever, but at some point he gave a long yawn.

— A murder in the North Burgh, the discovery of an artifact we can't deliver for now, then three more disappearances in the East Burgh, and now a joint mission with the Nighthawks. At this rate I'm going to die prematurely from overwork…

Solveig frowned slightly and raised an eyebrow.

Ewan had not slept that night because of the files, but it wasn't too bad for his health considering his current Sequence.

She shook her head slightly before sighing in pity for her captain's situation.

At that moment, Solveig remembered that it was possible that it would end like this one day since her promotion to Sequence 7 would come at some point in her life.

She calmly turned her head and faced Ewan.

He had pale yellow hair tied in a messy braid with a few loose strands. His green eyes had a natural air of life.

He was wearing a black suit with a symbol on it, but he was not wearing a hat or a cane.

Suddenly, a voice filled with imperturbable serenity rang out through the cathedral, covering them with a sacred air:

— The Goddess has not abandoned you...

In the middle of the prayer, Solveig looked out at the fog that lingered outside all over Backlund.

— Is this the change of times?

...

Eastern Borough, headquarters of the Iron Cross.

Medici unhurriedly placed the various documents on the wooden table next to several other books so ancient they seemed to have come from bygone eras.

In front of him was a woman with short black hair. Her blue eyes were dark like the depths of a majestic forest covered in darkness.

She was wearing an all-black military uniform with a symbol of six wings in a deep shade of blue.

Medici did not wait for her to say anything and pulled out the chair next to her to sit down.

—That's all I could find in the documents from previous investigations, but those lunatics hid themselves very poorly so it wasn't hard to find a way to find them in Backlund. They were lurking around the poor areas in the East Borough for some reason near the parts where there are more stowaways, there must be a reason for that.

— There is also the strange woman whose path I could not tell exactly, she was killed as soon as her hiding place was discovered, a burning of files, this lunatic lost control and became a pile of meat after trying to use the artifact. Her name was Melinoe Conley and she was already wanted by the Nighthawks, Mandatory Punishers and the other officials as a murderer who was involved in the death of a magnate from Intis. At the end of her life, she tried to say something before dying as if she were a lifeless doll.

A thoughtful expression covered Yvaine Callas' face as she stared at the files almost narrowing her eyes.

She looked at Medici who seemed as carefree as before and smiled.

— You are thinking about the same possibility as me, aren't you? — Yvaine Callas asked with interest.

Medici laughed before saying in a calm tone:

— The Aurora Order only has lunatics who still wouldn't do this randomly, so that leaves only other options and besides, why kill a member who didn't even fight yet when there was a higher sequence in the area? Couldn't they join forces to try to kill me? It could be that they were hiding their path at all costs and that's why they didn't choose direct combat.

Yvaine nodded slightly, placing the special documents in another pile on one side of the table.

— They could be traitors infiltrated among the officers if that's the case... Okay, there's no need for you to continue investigating if that's the case. I'll pass the case on to Lionel's team and you can investigate another matter or keep signing documents and reading endless reports. — she suggested before picking up a quill from beside her to continue writing.

Medici didn't even need to think about it because they both knew what his answer to a question like that would be.

— I'll continue investigating normally as always. I handed over all the documents I had to evaluate and sign a few minutes ago. — he replied firmly, without any concern on his face.

There was no need to be so formal with each other when they had known each other for eleven years.

It was the organization's counselor's choice that he remain in the Order Hunters as a member after being examined to verify that there was nothing wrong with his current condition.

— Being so immersed in the documents of the trials and investigations doesn't give me time for anything, tsk, the world is getting too hectic. So, what do you suggest we do with the hourglass? — she asked. Her expression showed a bit of doubt.

Medici immediately stopped as if she was thinking and returned to normal in less than a second.

It didn't take long for him to begin explaining:

& This came from the cosmos, so it's best to seal it so that it never sees the light of day again." The best person to see this would be the advisor or one of the highest-ranking members. I don't remember anything about this place called cosmos other than that it seems dangerous and it would be unwise to try to use this artifact since it meets some grade 1 requirements.

— The best person to do this would be that fanatic, but handing this artifact over to the advisor will save us from unnecessary trouble.

— Fanatic? Who is that? — Yvaine raised her eyebrows and turned to Medici.

Medici gave a rare sigh and replied:

— A madman who should not be mentioned. It doesn't matter.

She understood what he meant and quickly changed the subject:

— You will be able to remember your past life at some point. You have made some progress in remembering some laws of the Beyonder world as well as some past creatures and knowledge. Besides, you are very old for your appearance. How can you be over ninety years old and have the vengeful resentment of a child? Even though your age may be younger or older, who knows?

His very advanced age was no secret to Yvaine, but it was still a point of doubt that had always been in her thoughts.

— How hypocritical to say something like that. You are older than me and worse than one of the relics in the Backlund museum, but you still insist on talking about my age? — Medici said as he simply leaned back in his chair.

She was not offended in the least by the words she heard, only returning a majestic smile.

— That is true, you just forgot to mention that in your time there was no need for a museum because it was so old. All that's left to say is that the first time he saw the stars was when everything began to exist.

— Really? Just don't forget that you should avoid going into museums, rude people might mistake you for the relics. — Medici replied with a cheeky smile on his face.

Unperturbed by the provocations exchanged between them, Yvaine asked in a voice as normal as before:

— You can go investigate the next case you have with your squad. For now, I'll just send a telegram to the officers.

...

Northern Borough, in front of a library on Cobre Street.

Medici leaned against the wall, not looking at all obvious to the dozens of people passing by in the crowd.

Hair as red as blood drew some unnecessary attention from the observers belonging to the mysterious world; fortunately, there were still other people as different as him.

Suddenly, a boy no more than fifteen years old nudged his arm slightly.

His crimson red eyes seemed calm and rational. He had light brown hair that almost reached his shoulders.

He was wearing an old brown coat and carrying an old backpack with him everywhere he went.

— Hey, Mr. Medici. Good morning, here are the documents you asked for. — Ian Wright said as he discreetly took some papers out of his backpack.

Medici took the papers and said:

& Is this your new disguise? How is life hiding in the Bar of the Brave after getting that potion stolen from the Church of Steam and Machinery? I imagine you had a hard time after parting ways with that master of yours.

Ian looked at him for a moment before giving him a calm smile:

— Yes, it was hard to find a place, but I managed to get a pretty stable job at the Bar of the Brave. I just need to be more careful with the Machinery Hive Mind and the rest is much better than before. The worst part is that evil mirror from the last squad that came to hunt me, but it seems the Sealed Artifact failed... How is that possible?

His doubts were valid since almost no Sealed Artifact usually failed when it was at a level as dangerous as Arrodes.

Remembering almost instantly the unimaginable horror and smug sarcasm of that diabolical mirror Church of Vapor, Medici began to laugh to himself.

— Arrodes is too stubborn to follow anyone's orders so he can choose not to answer...

— Mr. Medici, what was that madness in the East Borough last time? There were lights everywhere, total chaos. The excuse was that they were fireworks that exploded by accident. — Ian asked without hiding his curiosity.

This was a problem that was left for the Hunters of the Order to solve together with the Church of Midnight, which was also involved in the matter. The culprit was an out-of-control Beyonder from the Church of Vapor and the Machinery who tried to blow up some things, but everything ended up getting out of hand.

Fortunately, the reports arrived quickly and everything was resolved almost immediately, with almost no victims except for four who ended up being burned by the fire. Even so, that case was suspected of being a setup caused by another mysterious person.

Medici explained the story to Ian before laughing.

— The world is changing.

...

Above a tower with a large stained glass window, a young man with long, well-groomed black hair and a purely white fringe had a serene expression on his face. His blue eyes were calm with an abnormal depth, just like that of a stormy, dark sea.

His blue and white clothes looked like those of a wizard more like a nobleman, the only difference being his strange golden adornments that were four-pointed stars.

He was holding a hardcover book in a dark blue tone, the yellowed pages that seemed to belong to an older era had no written word.

Suddenly, the words appeared in that book as if they had always been there, the black lettering was grotesque and distorted but understandable, it was Jottun and the magnificent incomplete letters said:

"The stars..."

"Was that the final act of a glorious story covered by eccentric insanity or the beginning of time?"

"The light of twilight lost its brightness..."

The next pages were empty except for a few seemingly incomplete sentences.

"The open door to different worlds..."

"Traveling over the stars in search of the different mysteries of everything..."

All the letters disappeared as if they had never existed.

The man took a pen seemingly from the void before turning several pages and starting to write on an empty page in Jottu that said:

"The eyes of deception that observe all history..."

"The past always reflects in the present."

He gave the red-haired man a serene look again and then said in a calm tone:

— Secrets…

Whossss!

A strong howling wind suddenly arose at that moment.

The leaves were blown away and the figure that no one had noticed disappeared into a tear in space as if he had never been there, only leaving behind a tarot card stuck on a yellowed page that was blown away by the wind.

Medici caught the card that was flying towards him.

It was a caped wizard with a pointed hat who had a calm look as he silently read some tarot cards beneath the stars of the infinite cosmos.

"The Magician."

At that moment, the image distorted completely before splitting into thousands of different pieces.

On the yellowed paper that remained, there was a sentence:

"The conspiracy in His final breath."

After some time of the meeting, Klein sank into a sea of chaotic dreams where there was no sense in anything he saw before his eyes.

Sometimes, they were grand and majestic places that he had never seen in his entire two lives, sometimes it could even be something completely contrary to reason and normal understanding that everyone had of the entire world or even of reality.

When he stood up, Klein looked dazedly at the wall with a slightly strange vision, as if there was something that shouldn't be there.

There were mixed colors of yellow, blue and white that seemed to form the body of a person, this person was lying calmly on the bed and further away was a combination of different colors forming a raised silhouette.

What...? There are full of colors behind the wall... Is that lying down...? — he blinked with a frown, but the strange thing had already disappeared without a trace.

Klein quickly sat up, losing all the confusion that was in his mind at the same time.

Wait... Isn't that the direction of Melissa and Benson's room?

 I see them?

He frowned, and a thought came to his mind:

Beyonder!

Maybe it's the influence of something related to the mysterious world that's causing me these strange visions and reactions.

Something related...

Almost everything around him was a complete mess that involved mysteries or at least was connected to some. Him, the former Klein, the policemen who knocked on his door and everyone.

Klein would never be able to find the reason for this normally.

That palace had been completely in ruins apparently for thousands of years and there were even several translucent worms sitting on the destroyed throne.

Night... It must be something connected to the night. The Goddess of Midnight? What does that bunch of worms have to do with the Goddess? Does it hate her? From the way it acted, it's very possible...

Who should I ask this to discreetly? Uh... Someone who knows about the Beyonder and who has some knowledge of the mysterious world... Mr. Azik! Even if I can't trust him, he's still the best option of all. He is a seemingly strong Beyonder... Stronger than Mr. Hanged Man.

Yes, it is possible that Mr. Azik knows about that place. Well, I will try to ask about the place itself and not the palace, otherwise I might raise suspicions.

Klein made up his mind as he pondered a few things.

Now that he had the Tarot Club, he could gain important information about the Beyonder world, but what could he do next?

There was something else that was even stranger. Mr. Chariot had mentioned the case of people who had gone mad because of the Beyonder powers, so was it really worth becoming a Beyonder?

Besides, he could no longer sleep normally due to so many distorted dreams and sometimes even suffered from some delusions, so was there really any choice but to follow this path?

Klein sighed inwardly as he looked at the mirror.

Mr. Hanged Man and Mr. Chariot had mentioned the so-called twenty-two divine paths. But I must be careful… They said that it could be even more dangerous depending on one's bloodline.

He didn't hesitate any longer and got up to silently leave the house after eating his breakfast.

Klein walked to Howe Street with many doubts in his mind and sometimes, he thought a little about Roselle and the creator of the tarot cards.

He was looking for some information about a palace at the peak of a mountain range. It could be anything, but it could mainly be connected to some eons ago.

He probably wouldn't find that kind of information with a normal person, but with a Beyonder it could be a different story and the only Beyonder he knew besides the members of the Tarot Club was his history teacher, Azik.

Luckily, Azik is almost always in the Deweyville library checking out some old book so Klein didn't have to look for him and it wouldn't even seem suspicious to anyone.

Even if his teacher wasn't there, he could still pick up a book to see something about a mountain range.

Being a history student has its advantages. — he thought with a slight smile on his face.

He quickly entered the library and walked up to the tall, blond man who was unhurriedly standing at the counter.

Klein looked at him and asked politely:

— Sir, do you know if there are any books on mountain ranges?

The man thought for a few seconds before saying:

— Unfortunately, someone already took that book a day ago. Maybe they'll return it in a few days or a week.

Klein nodded slightly and thanked the man:

— Alright, I'll come back later.

He picked up a book from the shelf as he walked. "Forgotten Relics."

What a pity, someone already took the book before me. There's still Mr. Azik. — He quickly glanced around discreetly.

There were a few young people sitting around a square table as they discussed a topic about Emperor Roselle.

At an empty table next to a window, there was a man with long, dark brown hair that was tied into a ponytail. His golden eyes seemed to be alive.

His softly-featured face had a calm and tired expression. Azik noticed Klein's gaze and turned to him.

 — Mr. Azik, can I talk to you? — Klein asked as he approached the tanned man.

 Azik nodded, smiling gently.

— Of course. How can I help you?

Klein sat down and put down one of the books he had found about ancient relics from grand ruins that were worshipped and majestic in their time.

He gathered some of his thoughts and asked:

— Mr. Azik, is it possible that there is a place on top of a mountain range over 4,000 meters high? I mean… What could the name of this place be?

Azik looked at him thoughtfully as if he had remembered something.

— In the Fourth Epoch, there was a nation above the mountain range of the main peak of Hornacis, it was called the "Nation of Eternal Night". Unfortunately, almost all other information was lost over time. There are almost no records about this nation even at the end of the Fourth Epoch. That nation fell into ruins long ago for an unknown reason, but its ruins still exist today. Even so, it seems that all the inhabitants suddenly abandoned the place due to an unprecedented calamity. Any furniture and even cutlery remained intact and in the same place, and the citizens simply disappeared completely from existence, as if they had never existed.

— They had faith in the Eternal Night, so they called her the Mother of Heaven for Her dominance over the night, yet many insisted on following another deity, Her title has been lost to history. Furthermore, on the main peak of Hornacis there is a grand palace that now remains in ruins.

Klein suppressed his urge to frown as he listened to Azik's explanation.

The Hornacis mountain range was very mysterious and bizarre in his vision, a ruined place where everyone simply disappeared without leaving a trace. Hornacis… It makes sense. But the palace I saw still looked a little better than Mr. Azik's description, and there was also a cluster of translucent worms together… An extraordinary being.

And they believed in the Goddess? Mother of Heaven… Maybe it was Her. And who could this other deity be? One of the other seven orthodox gods? Or someone else? Maybe the Goddess really does have a relationship with those translucent worms… It must be something from the Nation of Eternal Night, and it might also be connected to that laughter I heard.

And what could have happened to the citizens of the Nation of Eternal Night? No one disappears out of nowhere, doesn't even take clothes or food, and leaves everything intact… This is getting deeper and deeper. In his reverie, Klein felt like he was sinking into an abyss of mysteries entangled within each other.

When he finally got an answer, thousands of other questions arose.

— Why this sudden interest in the Nation of Eternal Night? — Azik asked, pulling him out of his thoughts. His expression was unflappable.

That's it… — Klein quickly recalled what he had been thinking when he was in the room and said:

— For some reason, I started having strange and incomprehensible dreams. I don't know exactly… Maybe it's just my mind playing tricks on me.

He only told part of the truth so that there would at least be an explanation and Azik wouldn't think about the rest. He was hiding the rest of what had happened on the night of the transmigration!

And since Azik is probably an experienced Beyonder, he would probably figure something out sooner or later even if Klein didn't say anything.

Azik looked at Klein, his gaze becoming imperceptibly cloudier, as if there was a doubt hovering over him.

— Klein, you must know that there are strange things that have no explanation. Right? You're seeing things you shouldn't see, just like last time.

Without waiting for an answer, he continued gently:

— Your dreams can be dangerous to you, depending on what they are or what you saw in them. Be careful. Sometimes, people are born extraordinary... Maybe it could be connected to you.

Mr. Azik really is a Beyonder... — Klein concluded immediately after hearing those words.

— I'll be careful. — he assured without hesitation, but he didn't hide his doubt. —Mr. Azik, when you refer to things without explanation, could it be other people like police officers?

Azik nodded slightly, seeming to have understood something.

— Sometimes, the authorities can have a relationship with these strange things, like when they ask you seemingly meaningless questions." This happened to me once a while ago. They came to question me about Khoy University, if I had seen anything strange last time because a student had committed suicide at the Church of Saint Selena a few nights ago, on June 29th.

Suicide? That... That's no coincidence. And right after the police left... She died in the early hours of the morning, June 29th. — Klein narrowed his eyes with some guesses.

— They came on the night of the 28th. — he said with thoughts running through his mind.

Azik also seemed a little confused. He spoke calmly:

— They also came after you for some other reason. Maybe they suspect your current condition or someone told them something about you. Remember not to tell anyone these things, especially these police officers, unless you really need to.

I remember that Mr. Hanged Man, Mr. Chariot and Miss. Strength also said this... A fate worse than death, to go completely insane... — suddenly, Klein turned his gaze discreetly towards the front door out of pure instinct just like Azik.

Ding!

The sound of the bell rang as soon as the door was opened.

It was a young man with messy black hair. He had green eyes that looked relaxed.

Behind him, there was a shadow sunk into the depths of his soul, it was in the form of a tall man with short hair and was wearing a robe like a priest.

"Inspector" Leonard Mitchell!

That's it... — Klein turned his gaze to Azik, looking as normal as before.

— It's him, one of the police officers. There's something strange about him. — He didn't think twice before reporting Leonard.
