Chapter 11: A wound that cannot be healed by spells
After he finished speaking he nervously looked at his siblings. The last thing Damien wanted to act out of character and end up being caught on his very first night in this world.
Fortunately, Henry nodded after a while and hummed. With his hand under his chin like a little scholar, he agreed with Damien, "You are right. Mother has just fallen asleep, it is not right to disturb her."
"Right?" Damien heaved a sigh of relief and ruffled the hair of the little tease next to him. Nearly caused him to have a heart attack.
"Get off me!" Henry pushed his hand away with an annoyed expression. He was not taking Damien's act of ruining his neatly combed hair.
Henry pushed him away and ran inside the house, Damien chuckled as he turned to look at Priscilla who stiffened before she chased after Henry.
She seemed quite nervous.
"Wait for me!" Damien said to the two before running after them. But the two children only picked up their speed as they tried to get away from him.
At the main mansion,
"Can you do it or not!?" A young woman questioned with a cold expression. She was looking at the healer who was dressed in flamboyant white robes with a golden belt draped around his shoulder.
This golden belt signified that he was a high-ranking healer.
Despite that, this healer could not stop the bleeding of Nicolas' leg.
"Miss Wistoria, please calm down," the healer said to Wistoria Wolfe. "I am sure that we will find a way to deal with this issue very soon."
After he finished speaking, the healer turned to look at Nicolas's leg which was still bleeding.
Wistoria ran her hand through her silver locks, her red eyes were filled with distress and concern for her brother. She looked at Nicolas who was lying on the bed with a pale complexion and stated,
"Healer Lyon, you said the same thing earlier but it had been an hour and my brother's leg is still the same! Do you even know what it means to bleed for an hour?" Wistoria questioned harshly.
Of course, Evan Lyon knew what could happen if Nicolas's wound continued bleeding like this.
Even if they were high-ranking beastmen, the Wolfe also had their limits. If Nicolas's wound was not treated then by the third hour he would die.
Healer Evan was also in a pinch when he thought about this weird situation.
He had used all kinds of healing spells but nothing seemed to be working on Nicolas's wound. Even if he somehow managed to close the wound that was bleeding, it would end up tearing open and would start bleeding in seconds.
His gaze flickered as Healer Evan raised his head and looked at Nicolas's torn arm which was connected by just a few tendons.
He couldn't heal his arm but how could a small wound like this one be impossible for him to treat?
What should I do, thought Healer Evan.
He gritted his teeth and raised his hand before chanting another spell.
"Vibrant Vitality!"
A golden light flashed in the room and an exquisite golden array appeared in the air. Specks of golden light like broken bokeh covered Nicolas's wound.
At first, the wound seemed to have stopped bleeding but another second later, the wound started to bleed again.
'I—-it is not working? Why was it not working' Healer Evan worriedly thought as he looked at the long gash that was bleeding and continued to gush out a large amount of blood.
"Healer Evan, what's going on? The bleeding is not stopping at all?" Gilderoy Wolfe, the head of the Wolfe family asked the healer who promised to stop the bleeding and treat the wound of his son in a jiffy.
He didn't know that an hour counted as a jiffy in the eyes of healers.
"I—— I will go and take this matter to the higher-ups," Healer Evan knew that the matter was out of his hands. He bowed in a flustered manner before rushing out of the room where Nicolas and his family were present.
Gilderoy watched the healer leave and his expression turned solemn. The previous healer said the same thing and he thought that a Healer of Holy Priest level would be able to treat his son.
This was the very reason Gilderoy allowed Evan to treat his son.
But looking at it, it seemed like everything went into a nought.
"Father, what are we supposed to do now?" Wistoria asked worriedly. If this continued Nicolas might end up dying.
Gilderoy patted his daughter on the head before saying, "Don't worry, we will think of a way to deal with this problem."
On the other side,
Damien had just laid down on the bed and stretched his arm over his head when he suddenly heard the voice of Dan echoing in his head.
[Host, please head over to the main building. A patient is waiting for you.]
"What is this? You are already assigning another mission to me?" Damien frowned and questioned. He had been working for an entire day and didn't even get a chance to breathe.
Throughout the entire day, he was running all over the territory that belonged to the hyena beastmen.
He didn't even get a chance to drink water and it was only now that he could stretch his arms and rest his tired waist.
"I am not going," Damien refused, though he believed in saving every single patient, he knew that the patient was most probably from the Wolfe family as Dan asked him to head over to the main house.
The Wolfe family did not trust him, even if he went to the Main house, he would probably be humiliated and sent back.
So why should he head over to humiliate himself?
He might as well continue lying on the bed and take proper rest.
