Agnisotra: Origin Tails

Ch 78: Dimensional Patchwork

I wasn't surprised when Azu made that bigass [Fusionado] disappear. Not anymore. I was still a bit tired from attempting to escape from her but it wasn't that bad. I guess my turn is up. How much time do you need to charge up to have enough for your amped-up [Solar Stream]? 5 minutes should be enough. Raishin took some distance from us and started to generate energy. Some weird tiger-patterned cloud swirled around him. This is the first time I've seen it but I’ve heard about it before. It only shows itself if the energy that is being generated greatly surpasses the maximum capacity six-tailed lightning tigers can casually carry around. This means if you see this while fighting a six-tailed tiger you either have to kill them immediately or start investing in seriously running away. In Raishin’s current state, it seems he can't use it in battle yet because he seems to be focusing hard. I got hugged from behind.

“I would recommend aiming the [Meteor] a bit further back.” How big is this thing going to be?

“As big as my awesomeness!” Uhm ok… I fired up my Elgards eyes and set things up so that I could cast it. That is odd I can’t see the range that it would cover. Normally I would see something akin to a dotted line to indicate the range. I don't see it. Maybe Azu made a mistake and it is really small? A small [Meteor] doesn't make any sense.

I’m done! Can you link me up? I linked Raishin up and decided to link Azu up too.

Ooh, this has a big range. I did see the dotted line for Raishin’s attack. Its range was stupidly large.

Just aim it to the back there, and you will still hit it. Right here it goes!

Now just wait. So, Azu I can’t see the range of [Meteor].

“Hmm, that is weird, maybe just a glitch! You are still young, maybe it misses some things.” I guess… We waited till there were 30 seconds left before [Solar stream] would hit. It seemed that my [Meteor] would drop 25 seconds after casting. I used [Meteor], I circulated nature energy to combat my nausea. and both Raishin and my intuition went off.

Say Agnis, do you remember that time in that game we played and you found this shiny spell? Funny that you say that because I was thinking about that too.

“What what? I want to know too!” Uhm so same story, I couldn't see the range of that skill to test it out and it seemed to have a range so big that the range indicator was outside our field of vision we were standing in its range…

“Oh, this isn't good then…” HEY AGNIS ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL US?! I think Greg knows. Yup, he knows.

“We might have made an oopsie” I grab Azu and Raishin with my tails, dash toward Ted and Gregory, grab them too, and chain teleport us far away from the blast zone.

So, I may or may not have forgotten to control [Meteor] with nature magic so it also may or may not be laced with spatiotemporal magic. So, I was right, it would hit all of us…

I will reflect on this mistake. An enormous flaming meteor covered and darkened the sky. The moment it crashed into its target a thick beam of light and fire pierced it causing the area to get hit by both simultaneously. Gregory put up all his defensive skills, I used my [frost wall] and Azu used some barriers.

We should coordinate this whenever a god messes with us. Gregory and Ted slapped me.

Well, look at that! The root is no more! Nice!

Time to close that dimensional hole!

“Take me with you!” That was my bad guys but I'm off to fix that hole. I grabbed Azu and chain teleported toward the dimensional hole.

“Ouch ouch, it's hot here!” Oh, sorry. I made a [frost cloak] for Azu. Because the root was gone the fabric seemed to be back to normal although still torn. I saw some maggots appear.

“Eww! What are those? Get it away get it away!” They are just maggots, haven’t you seen them before?

“They’re gross!” I agree with that but I need those, now how do I get more of them…

“You want more of them?!” Azu started freaking out. I sighed and covered her in 6 of my tails. “So fluffy!” I guess in cases like this she was easy to deal with. Now how do I make them multiply? The maggots gathered around the frayed edges of the fabric and started to do something. I didn't know anything about them so I decided to wait and observe. Slowly but surely, they were repairing the fabric but what they produced was ugly festering fabric. Hmm. So, I let them do this then blast them to turn the festering fabric into a normal one. This seems like it's going to take a long time. And if that's the case what is the function of those centipedes and beetles? I looked on for 3 hours but the process was slow. And still, no other disgusting bugs of which I was unsure what their function was. There must be a way to speed this up. Azu was still entranced and playing with my tails.

What a weirdo. The only solution I could think of was using that technique that causes me to lose my 9t fox powers for a while. Everything I did in that mode was on instinct. It was almost 14:00 If I use it now, I will be able to use my 9t fox powers tomorrow. I used one of my free tails to untangle and grab Azu and placed her in front of me. Hey, Azu, I’m going to do something that could potentially fix this hole but after I use this, I won't be able to use any 9t fox powers. Will you watch over me after I lose it?

“What? Your tails will be gone!? It isn't risky right?” Well, if you look after me, I don’t think it will be risky.

“Ok! Count on me! Tails or not I will protect you!” That is reassuring. I shattered a layer and grabbed my [Illusionary dagger]

“Ooh, so colorful!” I held the dagger in front of me with an outstretched hand and let it go. It floated and started to point at me. I spread out my 8 tails. It multiplied and a dagger each sot into my tails. The illusion making my tails and hair black dropped. My ears turned blue and a 9th tail appeared. All my tails got covered in blue fire and fire wisps started floating behind me. My pupils turned into waxing moons this time and a silver mana burst erupted from me.

“Oh gosh, this is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen!” Space started warping around me and the sky started to act weird again. Day and night flashed by until it settled at a dark clear sky with an unusually big full moon. I didn't know what to do but my instincts told me what to do. I gathered all the wisps floating behind me, turned them purple by mixing them with spatiotemporal magic, and fired it at the [firewall] which was still incinerating the Things. [Foxfire blanket]. It replaced the [firewall] but now it looked like its name suggested. It looked like a purple flaming blanket was covering the hole. The maggots that were hit by it melted and their green goo seeped into the blanket making whatever part of the blanket that got hit by the goo look like healthy dimensional fabric. This only made the hole a little bit smaller since all the maggots were gone now.

A tail disappeared. I shattered another illusion layer and created another [Illusionary dagger]. I jumped on the [Foxfire blanket] and dipped my tails into it. The fire that was covering my tails ignited the already burning blanket. It doesn't make any sense I know. It made the blanket shrink and I pulled the edges of the hole closer together with my tails.

Another tail disappeared. My intuition told me to look up to the full moon, which I did. My pupils turned into crescent moons and the sky started to shift between day and night again until a big waning gibbous moon could be seen in the sky. Silver tears dropped out of my eyes but when I caught them with my tails they turned into threads. At this point, I knew what to do. Hera was a weaver and I know a thing or two about weaving.

Another tail disappeared. I made smaller [Foxfire blankets] and threaded the silver thread attached to the [Illusionary dagger]. I continued to repeat that stitching foxfire blankets together. Any blanket that was stitched to the healthy dimensional fabric turned into a healthy fabric itself.

2 more tails disappeared. Judging by the speed at which I was doing this I might barely make it. I heard some noises and saw a medium-sized Thing approach. My luck is terrible it had all the time to appear and it appears now. I decided to do something possibly risky. I fired up my [Tail dynamo] and sped up. I circulated nature energy to make sure I didn't get hit by nausea. I made more [Foxfire blankets] and stitched them together. I started to become a little bit sloppy because the hole was still big.

Another tail was gone, I only had 3 tails left now and this Thing might get through because I don't know if a blanket will stop it. Probably not… I saw Azu looking at me absolutely enthralled. It is going to be hard to shake her off after I’m done with this, isn't it? White opaque flames formed on my remaining tails. What do they do? No clue but something told me to fire them off at the fabric that was already fixed.

I sped up because that dropped my tails to 2 and I still had a lot to fix. I fixed 70% of the hole but I don't think I will be able to fix all of it.

I fixed 80% of the fabric when another tail disappeared. The white flames seemed to have thickened the fabric. It also seemed to have attracted some maggots. I don’t know if I can fix the rest after I drop out of this but even if it's slow, they can fix the rest. I got to 85% before my last tail disappeared. This was because I had to keep the medium Thing at a distance. My blue ears disappeared, my Elgards eyes deactivated and the sky went through day and night again to return back to normal. I fell exhausted but Azu caught me.

“That was amazing! This is the first time I've seen a nine-tail spirit fox fix dimensional anomalies!” Azu, I’m sorry, I’m exhausted, let’s talk later… My eyes felt heavy and I fell asleep. I seem to be sleeping a lot lately.

I woke up and saw something familiar but I can’t remember where I've seen it before. I poked it.

“Oh, you’re awake. How do you like my lap pillow?” Lap pillow again? But I’m not hurt. I got up but my head hurt.

“You looked so cool and pretty when you fixed that hole!” I had no clue what I was doing for the most part. I didn't even manage to fix everything.

“Well, you closed up most of it, so it should be fine right?” Hopefully. How late is it?

“It's past midnight, you were out for quite a long time. I helped Ted and Gregory close up the hole in the ground again.” Oh, in that case.

Day 5: So, did anything weird happen with the pink broccoli in the meantime?

“I don't sense anything off, and neither did Gregory.” I tried to activate my Elgards eyes but they haven't returned yet. So, several more hours and it will be over, are you excited to be free?

“I was at first but now it feels like that is when everything will start. I seemed to be one of Witchaven’s greatest hope and to them, I suddenly disappeared. Then there is the thing with the gods. I also want to reclaim my materials from my workshop at least and set up a workshop somewhere else. I also don’t know anything about the world so I will have to catch up on that, there is so much stuff I need to do and that means I sadly can’t afford to stick with you guys.” Hey, I was thinking, I was quite mean to you, if you want you can join us, we will fight the witches and gods together. Azu shook her head.

“You were right, I need to get everything in order I also need to catch a witch traitor because I’m the only witch who has an idea where she could be hiding. I will be sure to meet up with you guys once I’ve finished all of that, that is if you still want me at that point.” You’ve been a huge help, without you we would have been dead, especially me. I know we are working toward setting you free and it is natural for you to help but it seems it didn't exactly cost you nothing to do all this.

“Hehe, don't worry about it, I did this with pleasure and had fun while at it.” So, you guys fixed the ground so that we could blow another hole in it to defeat the pink broccoli?

“Gregory investigated the tree and it seems it can be defeated with what he calls ‘An obnoxious puzzle’ whatever that means.” I clutched my head. Nooo! Azu giggled,

“So dramatic now sleep!” Whud? So sleepy, did you use sleeping magic on me?

“Who knows!” You know!
