After Time Traveling, I was Forced to Marry a Wealthy Family

Chapter 8

After a satisfying lunch, ready-made clothes were delivered in the afternoon. Mu Ci sat by the bed, watching as the maid sorted the new clothes. It was then that he remembered the clothes he had worn from the ancient times and asked about them.

Gu Huai calmly replied that he had them washed and stored. However, in truth, he had sent those ancient garments to experts for appraisal the previous night, and the results didn’t come in until the evening.

As the stars began to twinkle in the sky, Gu Huai coaxed Mu Ci to sleep, while he, Bai Ling, and Dr. Jiang delved into the appraisal report in the study.

.

According to the experts, the style of the garments matched that of the prince’s attire from the Yi Dynasty. Such outfits were not currently available in any store. Even for custom-made clothing, this level of accuracy was remarkable, and there was no sign of modern influence on the design.

Furthermore, the fabric of the clothing appeared to be handwoven rather than machine-made. Such fabrics were practically nonexistent in the modern world. The small accessories and details also didn’t seem like contemporary imitations.

The final remark on the expert’s report read, “If it weren’t for the fact that this set of clothing appears brand new, it could easily be mistaken for a cultural relic from the Yi Dynasty.”

After reading the report, the three of them remained silent for a while. Bai Ling was the first to speak.

He exclaimed, “Could it be that Mu Ci really traveled from ancient times?”

Gu Huai quickly defended himself, saying, “I’ve always believed in what he said and never had any doubts!”

Bai Ling retorted, “Who slapped someone in the face during their first meeting and then secretly sent the clothes to a historical expert for appraisal?”

Doctor Jiang Wenjing thoughtfully remarked, “Isn’t Mu Ci like a living cultural relic? I’m really tempted to dissect and examine him.”

Gu Huai scowled with anger.

Bai Ling, always the instigator, added, “Dr. Jiang, please refrain from any dissecting. Mu Ci is now Young Master Gu’s pet.”

“But you’ve only known Mu Ci for a day,” Jiang Wenjing tried to approach this from a scientific standpoint, “What caused such a surge in your hormones?”

“This must be fate from a previous life,” Gu Huai said, as he floated away in his imagination, enveloped by romantic pink bubbles.

Bai Ling and Jiang Wenjing exchanged synchronized expressions, as if they had seen a ghost.

.

In reality, even Gu Huai himself couldn’t fully explain it. A business elite, the head of a wealthy family, and often seen as a ruthless individual in the eyes of others, Gu Huai also had moments of confusion when it came to matters of the heart.

It wasn’t just physical attraction; while Mu Ci was indeed handsome, he might not be considered one of the top 100 most attractive people in the world. However, from the moment Gu Huai saw him, he felt as though this man was the most beautiful person on the planet. Perhaps beauty was truly in the eye of the beholder, and the filter was set too high.

Gu Huai was generally not one to focus on physical appearance, as he, along with the people around him, typically had substantial inner qualities. However, when he first laid eyes on Mu Ci, he was captivated by those cold, star-like eyes.

Love was a profoundly mysterious thing, more so than time travel. Even Gu Huai himself doesn’t know how long this love would last. It might dissipate overnight or withstand the test of time, lasting a lifetime.

At the end of the conversation, Gu Huai looked at Bai Ling and gave him a disdainful expression. “You wouldn’t understand even if I explained.”

In the face of Young Master Gu’s authority, Bai Ling could only nod and imply that he didn’t comprehend matters of love, lacked knowledge about the world, had no significant education, and the most advanced information he possessed was prenatal education.

.

.

Mu Ci, meanwhile, was in his room, not yet feeling sleepy. He stood in the bathroom, recalling the steps Gu Huai had taught him the previous night: washing his face and brushing his teeth. He hesitated when he looked at the jacuzzi, then decided to undress, pressing the button to fill it with water.

The showers in the Gu family’s mansion were equipped with constant-temperature settings, eliminating the need for adjustments. Steaming water flowed down from the marble platform, creating a delicate mist, and gradually blurring the reflections in the mirror. Mu Ci adjusted the water’s temperature and flow while exploring the various bottles on the shelves.

Although the traditional Chinese characters were differed slightly from the simplified ones, Mu Ci’s understanding of these products was akin to that of a junior high school student’s understanding of classical Chinese. After some effort, he managed to grasp that these were bath products. He tried to remember what Gu Huai had explained.

Gu Huai had used a palace analogy, saying, “It’s like when you took baths in the palace; you sprinkled flower petals and used essential oils. These are somewhat similar. You apply them to your body while bathing. By the way, I’ll be the one to wash your hair; don’t get any ideas.”

Mu Ci immediately defended himself, saying, “I never used flower petals!”

Gu Huai responded with a half-joking tone, “Then why do you always smell so good?”

Remembering this, Mu Ci felt a bit self-conscious. Lost in thought, he absentmindedly dipped his toes into the hot water. When he finally snapped back to reality, he noticed that the hot water had overflowed from the bathtub and flooded the bathroom floor.

Mu Ci quickly turned off the water and let out a sigh. He resolved to adapt to this world quickly and find a job to become self-sufficient. It wasn’t that he disliked Gu Huai; in fact, Mu Ci had a positive impression of him. However, it was not his nature to depend on others indefinitely.

He thought about the red-haired man he had met earlier in the day. Although he lacked basic common sense, he was still an adult with a capable mind. Mu Ci sensed that Gu Huai didn’t want him to go out and find a job, so if he wanted to explore his options, he might start with that red-haired man.

While pondering this, Mu Ci’s mind drifted again.

Why did that person have red hair? Could he be a god?

Mu Ci found himself half-reclining in the luxurious jacuzzi, an ergonomic masterpiece, playing with a rubber duck of unknown origin, gently swishing the warm water. It was incredibly comfortable, and he dozed off while submerged.

Gu Huai had spent the evening in the study discussing the “Love Bible” with Bai Ling and returned upstairs satisfied. As he approached the door, he noticed that the lights were still on inside.

It made him wonder if Mu Ci was feeling lonely and cold. His concern got the best of him, and he entered the room without hesitation, conducting a search around the premises. He eventually found the slumbering little prince in the bathroom.

Gu Huai couldn’t help but feel perplexed.

“…..”

What kind of strange person falls asleep in a bathtub?
