After Time Traveling, I was Forced to Marry a Wealthy Family

Chapter 5

Gu Huai stood at the door for a moment. He turned around and saw Bai Ling, who was holding things. His expression immediately reverted to its original cold demeanor, “What’s wrong?”

Bai Ling raised his hand, indicating that he held a tray, “I asked the cook to prepare some porridge, and I was about to bring it to him.”

Gu Huai was surprised to realize that the man still hadn’t eaten anything, and he couldn’t help but feel a little guilty. He had never taken care of anyone before, so it was normal to have unexpected thoughts. However, he didn’t expect Bai Ling to think of it.

Gu Huai felt inexplicably touched and said coldly, “Focus on your tasks and don’t concern yourself with these matters.”

Bai Ling was taken aback and wondered if he had said something wrong.

Did he step on a landmine?

But then Gu Huai took the dinner plate from his hand and said coldly, “Go downstairs, I’ll bring it in for him.”

Bai Ling was surprised and watched as Gu Huai entered while holding the dinner plate and almost slammed the door shut.

Could this be… jealousy? Bai Ling thought to himself, ‘Young Master Gu, do you remember that you’ve only known each other for a few hours? Love makes you act irrationally, boss!’

The Big Boss, Young Master Gu turned a blind eye to his subordinate.

He walked into the room and found Mu Ci had moved from the floor-to-ceiling window to the bedside, he laid on the bed while closely examining the LCD digital clock embedded in the wall.

Mu Ci’s posture slightly revealed the contour of his buttocks, partly covered by his white coat.

The LCD clock on the bedside suddenly changed from nine fifty-nine to ten o’clock, and Mu Ci visibly startled. Gu Huai wondered if this reaction was genuine.

Could it be that this person truly traveled from ancient times?

Mu Ci hadn’t noticed Gu Huai’s presence yet. He reached out to touch the LCD screen, curious about the changing numbers inside.

Gu Huai placed the dinner plate on the coffee table and gently knocked to announce his arrival.

Mu Ci turned around cautiously, and upon seeing Gu Huai, he sighed in relief.

“Why are you back?”

Gu Huai replied, “I’ve brought you some supper.” He pointed to the hot porridge on the coffee table and asked, “What are you doing?”

Mu Ci glanced back at the LCD screen and said, “What is this? It’s moving inside.”

He still wasn’t aware of the fact that he had time-traveled, or he didn’t have the concept of time travel in his mind. Mu Ci currently believed he had ended up in a foreign country, possibly far from Yi Kingdom. The novelty of the various things around him had diluted his fear of this unfamiliar environment.

He had no desire to return to the palace, especially when he thought of Ji Yunshu, which pained his heart.

Gu Huai brought the porridge bowl to the bedside, handed Mu Ci a spoon, and responded to his previous question, “This is a clock; it keeps track of time.”

“But there is no time displayed on it.”

“…In our place, there’s no need to keep track of time.”

“Oh,” Mu Ci nodded thoughtfully and began to eat the porridge, “It’s quite unusual.”

He had a pleasant demeanor while eating. Gu Huai understood he must have been quite hungry, yet he maintained an elegant and noble bearing. It seemed as if this refined temperament had been ingrained in him since childhood.

Gu Huai observed him attentively, his discerning eyes noticing that most disguises were usually transparent to him. However, Mu Ci’s perplexed expression appeared genuine, not a pretense.

Mu Ci was particularly intrigued by the constant-temperature shower. He had never encountered anything that could produce hot water with a simple touch. During the experiment, hot water sprayed out, soaking the only clothes he had. The nearly transparent white coat clung to his slender body. Mu Ci turned to Gu Huai in distress.

Gu Huai quickly averted his gaze and shielded his face to prevent a potential nosebleed. He gave brief instructions, rushed out of the bathroom, and requested the maid to fetch a set of pajamas for Mu Ci.

Displaying his customary gentleman demeanor, he handed the silk pajamas through the bathroom door and instructed Mu Ci to change into them by himself.

.

Gu Huai stood outside the bathroom, waiting. After a few minutes, he heard an embarrassed call from inside the door.

Gu Huai cracked the door open slightly and asked, “What is it?”

Mu Ci’s face was flushed, “I don’t know how to fasten these buttons…”

He had put on the pajamas but left them unbuttoned, revealing his well-defined chest.

Gu Huai suddenly felt a dryness in his throat. He closed his eyes and entered the bathroom to help Mu Ci fasten the buttons. As he worked on the last button, he asked, “Did the doctor also help you fasten your buttons just now?”

Mu Ci seemed puzzled, “Huh?”

Jealousy welled up within Gu Huai. The thought of the doctor having seen this man undressed infuriated him. However, there was little he could do at this point. Gu Huai decided to vent his frustration by rubbing Mu Ci’s collarbone a few times as he fastened the buttons, offering himself some consolation.

The pajamas were slightly oversized for Mu Ci, so Gu Huai rolled up the sleeves for him, exposing his slender fingers.

“It’s getting late; you should go to bed.”

Mu Ci hesitated, “Can you tell me where this place is?”

Gu Huai glanced at him and patted his shoulder, “You should rest for now. Tomorrow, I’ll explain everything to you.”

.

After ensuring Mu Ci was settled, Gu Huai returned to his study. It was only half-past ten. He turned on the computer and began searching for the name Mu Ci. The first page that appeared was an entry in an eighteenth-tier star encyclopedia. The face he saw there differed significantly from the one in the guest room.

Scrolling further down, you’ll find all the gossip about this minor star. Gu Huai furrowed his brow and entered the keyword “Prince Yi Chao” in the search box. All the historical forums that appeared were dedicated to historical discussions.

Gu Huai clicked on the first one, titled “Yi Dynasty Prince,” which provided an introduction to the royal family in Chao-feng calendar years.

As he scrolled down with the mouse, Mu Ci’s name suddenly appeared: Mu Ci, the seventh prince in the Feng-li year, took his own life out of fear of guilt and weakness.

Gu Huai couldn’t help but click his tongue in surprise. These details aligned with what Mu Ci had mentioned. Could it be true? Even though Gu Huai was well-informed, this was the first time he encountered such a bizarre situation, causing his staunch materialism to waver.
