“But how is this my fault?” Su Mengyao snapped back, her own temper flaring.

Su Yuanshan slapped her again. “You kept telling me Qin Yuan would come to save you, but did he? No! He came to break off the engagement! What happened between you two? Speak!”
His voice was thunderous, and Su Mengyao trembled, unable to find her words.
Enraged, Su Yuanshan raised his hand to strike her again, but Lin Yun stepped in to stop him.
“Uncle Su, please stop. Mengyao didn’t know this would happen,” Lin Yun pleaded, his voice full of guilt. “If you must blame someone, blame me. I failed to defeat Qin Yuan.”
“Mengyao didn’t foresee any of this.” added Yu Ying, Su Mengyao’s close friend, trying to calm the situation. She suspected that Qin Yuan’s actions were part of a desperate plan to win back Su Mengyao.
“Step aside! I’ll teach this rebellious girl a lesson today!” Su Yuanshan roared, refusing to relent.
At this critical moment, several elders of the Su family intervened, restraining him and allowing him to regain his composure.

“You rascal.” Qin Xiaotian laughed, pinching his son’s cheek affectionately. After some light-hearted conversation, Qin Xiaotian turned serious. “So, have you broken off the engagement with that girl from the Su family?”
“Yes.” Qin Yuan confirmed.
“Are you certain this is what you want?”
“Yes.”
