Chapter 51 - Extra
A year later, Chi Jing held a low-key wedding with Jiang Yucheng.
The wedding took place on a small island with only close family and friends in attendance.
After the wedding, Chi Jing returned to his usual quiet life.
It wasn’t long before Mu Jingshan called, begging him to do a live stream for his fans.
“You haven’t worked for six months! This isn’t how you take a wedding leave!” Mu Jingshan’s voice was hoarse on the other end of the line.
Chi Jing moved the phone away from his ear, annoyed by the loud volume, and replied calmly, “I don’t lack money.”
Mu Jingshan said, “I just want you to do a live stream! Just two hours! Is that okay?”
Chi Jing clicked his tongue. “Alright, you set it up.”
Mu Jingshan asked, “Did you read the script I sent you…”
“I did, but I didn’t like any of them,” Chi Jing said, reclining on a beach chair under the sun. “Don’t you think those scripts are all boring? Either they’re nonsensical or just ridiculous.”
Mu Jingshan sighed. “Lately, with few big directors around, the scripts have been getting worse.”
“Then I won’t shoot. No one says I have to act,” he replied.
Mu Jingshan sighed again. “It doesn’t matter if you don’t like the scripts. Just do a live stream to calm the fans down. They’ve been complaining to the official account for months.”
He was surprised. “They’re still not used to it?”
Mu Jingshan said, “What do you expect… Which fans don’t want their idol to be more active? Since you and Jiang Yucheng got together, both of you have been elusive, as if you’ve both agreed to retire from the circle.”
Chi Jing said, “I thought fans would be used to my personality by now. But Jiang Yucheng is indeed about to retire.”
Mu Jingshan sat up straight. “What? He’s retiring?”
“Yeah, he’s going home to take over the family business,” Chi Jing said, glancing toward the study in the mansion. “He’s still dealing with company matters and has been working overtime for days.”
Mu Jingshan said, “I almost forgot. That’s going to be a seismic news event in the industry.”
Chi Jing wondered why the industry always seemed to be in turmoil.
After hanging up with Mu Jingshan, he got up from the beach chair and jumped into the artificial hot spring pool.
Warm water enveloped him, and he lay against the pool wall, suddenly craving strawberries and bread, and a glass of 24-year-old cola.
But the mansion was much larger than the villa, and he was too lazy to get out of the pool, put on clothes, and go to the kitchen. He decided to have the mansion’s servants bring it to him.
After giving the order, he turned back to lean against the pool wall and sank a little deeper into the water.
Feeling comfortable.
He closed his eyes comfortably until he heard footsteps approaching. He opened his eyes but didn’t turn around, simply saying, “Just put it over there, thank you.”
After the things were set down, he noticed that the footsteps didn’t leave.
He sensed something was off, and suddenly rose from the warm water. When he saw Jiang Yucheng’s smiling eyes, he realized the one bringing the items was him.
He walked out of the water, wearing only his hot spring attire, which clung tightly to his body after soaking, revealing his pale, eye-catching skin.
Jiang Yucheng took him into his arms without minding his wet clothes and sat with him on the beach chair.
“Finished with work?” Chi Jing asked as he sat on his lap.
“Yes,” Jiang Yucheng replied, “You’re live streaming later?”
Chi Jing quickly realized, “Mu Jingshan reported it to you.”
“Sister Xu mentioned it. She wants me to appear in your live stream,” Jiang Yucheng said, resting his chin on Chi Jing’s shoulder.
It seemed Xu Meng was also troubled by Jiang Yucheng’s inactivity.
Chi Jing patted his head. “How are you going to appear? Are you going to pick me up and drop me off?”
Jiang Yucheng chuckled softly. “Sure, I’ll pick you up and drop you off.”
The live stream was scheduled for the evening. Chi Jing also brought their three adult cats to sit with him for company.
Mu Jingshan had posted the live stream announcement on Chi Jing’s official Weibo account earlier in the afternoon, so when the stream started, fans who had been waiting flocked into the stream.
[My god! You still remember work!]
[It’s been six months! Do you know how I’ve managed these six months? (Heartbreaking)]
[You’re only 24! Why are you already married?]
[Where’s Jiang! Can I see him? Ugh, how did you two get married and make it seem like you both are retiring from the industry?]
Chi Jing, seeing the fast-moving comments, complained, “Slow down the comments. I can’t see clearly.”
[You can adjust the speed!]
[You can filter some out!]
With the comments tutorial, he finally adjusted the clarity of the comments.
“There’s no retirement. It’s just that there aren’t any good scripts, and I don’t want to do variety shows. They’re too tiring.”
“Jiang Yucheng? He’s in the bathroom,” Chi Jing said, turning the camera around. “We’re live streaming in the room. I’ll go to sleep after the stream.”
[Wow, I think I saw a box of baby stuff, or maybe it’s used.]
“……” Chi Jing discreetly adjusted the camera and then remotely instructed the culprit to throw away the box.
Not only that, but he also tried to redirect the live stream viewers’ attention. “Alright, what do you want to talk about? Did my manager forget to give me the schedule? I’m firing him tomorrow!”
Mu Jingshan, who had logged in with a secondary account to supervise: …
Clearly, the six-month absence had left fans with many questions, from career to relationship issues, and Chi Jing addressed them one by one.
“Are you really married? Yes, really married. We didn’t invite many people. Did Sister Lou post on Weibo? Did Sister Ou post too? Sorry, I feel the same way about their friends as I do about mine. If you’re fighting, don’t drag me into it.”
“What’s next for you? No work, just lying at home is quite comfortable. Miss me? If you do, that’s fine; I still don’t want to work.”
“Am I happy that ‘The Sword and the Blade’ broke 1 billion at the box office? It’s alright. The box office isn’t really about me; my scenes add up to only five minutes. Director Xu is amazing, the lead actors are great, and so are the supporting roles. I’m just a minor player.”
“What type does my older brother like? Let me ask.”
Chi Jing actually sent a message to Tang Shen during the live stream.
**Chi Jing: Older brother, what’s your ideal type?**
It was clear that Tang Shen was also watching his younger brother’s live stream, and through the internet, he gave his brother a smack.
**Tang Shen: Don’t ask! Just do the live stream properly!**
Chi Jing looked up and said, “See, it’s not that I don’t want to help you ask; it’s that my older brother doesn’t want to answer.”
The comments section erupted in laughter.
Then someone said in the comments:
**I think I heard another sound. Did Jiang come back?**
**I also heard something being thrown into the trash can.**
Chi Jing ducked out of the camera’s view and turned to see Jiang Yucheng cleaning up the baby stuff. After he finished, he turned the camera toward him: “Here, Jiang Yucheng, your fans want to see you.”
Jiang Yucheng glanced at him from across the bed and then walked behind him, bending over to hug him, giving a perfunctory greeting to the camera: “Good evening.”
**That’s enough, brother. We know you’re married.**
**Say hello (not) to show off your love (yes).**
**I’m full just from watching this late at night (angry at the dog food).**
**Quietly speaking, the empty baby stuff disappeared. You were really directing Jiang to take out the trash, weren’t you?**
**You’re not being very quiet about it.**
Chi Jing laughed and fell against Jiang Yucheng, receiving a kiss from him.
The comments section became lively but remained harmonious.
Over the past year, Jiang Yucheng’s fans had long gotten used to his romantic relationship. After all, their idol had been subtly flaunting his love life, always mentioning Chi Jing in interviews, making it seem like a common thing.
After Tang Zhengqing, Tang Shen, and the Jiang family, as well as Extreme Entertainment, spent half a year suing the marketing accounts and toxic fans that had slandered Chi Jing, Jiang Yucheng’s fans were finally cleared of any suspicion. Online, no one dared to make baseless comments, and the entertainment industry enjoyed a period of cleanliness.
After more than an hour of streaming, Chi Jing felt a bit tired and climbed into bed with the phone used for the live stream to continue chatting with fans.
As the live stream time ticked down, fans began to play tricks in the comments.
**Ugh, just thinking about not seeing you for a long time makes me so sad I don’t even want to eat or sleep.**
**Can’t you stay live? (Starry eyes)**
**It’s only ten o’clock. How can you go to sleep on such a beautiful night?**
Chi Jing glanced at Jiang Yucheng across the room. “There is a night life, but it can’t be broadcasted. I’ll start the night life after the stream.”
**I think I understand now…**
**Damn, why can’t such a beautiful person be hugged to sleep by me? Jiang Yucheng got the bargain.**
**Can I see your night life? Peeking**
**Eighteen-plus night life, right?**
**Why can’t it be broadcasted! Please start a night life stream on an external site. Mature fans will find their own way to access it.**
Chi Jing sat up straight, serious: “What are you saying? If you keep this up, the stream might get shut down.”
“Stop crying. I promised that if I don’t work, I’d do two live streams a month. Is that alright?”
“Work hours are over!” Chi Jing got up, kneeling and pulling Jiang Yucheng to him. They leaned shoulder to shoulder. “Alright, let’s wave goodbye together. Goodnight, goodnight, time for bed, bye-bye!”
As soon as the stream ended, Jiang Yucheng grabbed the phone and tossed it to the side of the pillow.
Chi Jing smiled brightly. “So eager?”
Jiang Yucheng, without a hint of embarrassment, pulled open his clothes and gently caressed his bare back. “You said that after the stream ends, we’d start the night life.”
Chi Jing was pushed onto the bed, his mouth curved into a smile, his chest touched by warm breath.
The lights in the room were turned off, and outside, the moon was obscured by a thin mist, casting a faint glow through the white curtains onto the entwined figures.
Inside the room, Chi Jing embraced Jiang Yucheng’s neck, extending the deep kiss initiated by him.
Life is long, but luckily, I met you.
