After the succubus became a fake young master that everyone disliked

Chapter 44

Without any filming tasks, Chi Jing went home the next day.

The original plan was for Jiang Yucheng to come with him. However, Jiang Yucheng had left the set without permission the day before, causing delays in the filming schedule. Although he took responsibility for all the losses, he still needed to stay behind to reshoot scenes with Director Xu and help train some supporting actors for free.

Returning alone to Haishi, Chi Yu had been waiting at the airport for a while.

Seeing him wearing sunglasses behind the wheel, Chi Jing raised an eyebrow and got into the passenger seat.

“You can drive?”

“I also got a driver’s license.” Chi Yu pressed the gas pedal. “Let’s go to your father’s company first; he left a document at home.”

Though it was called a company, it was actually just the branch office in Huaguo; the main family and company headquarters of the Tang family were abroad.

Chi Jing reclined his seat a couple of notches and comfortably leaned back, ready to nap again.

“Alright.”

Chi Jing had already slept on the plane, and when he walked out of the airport, he was still not fully awake. Just as he was about to drift off again, he felt the car make a sudden stop.

He opened his eyes abruptly, his previous drowsiness vanishing as he looked at Chi Yu in surprise.

Chi Yu said, “Red light.”

Chi Jing, “…”

For the rest of the journey, he didn’t dare to sleep. Fortunately, Chi Yu’s driving skills were actually quite good; the sudden stop was just an accident.

After safely arriving at the company’s underground parking lot, Chi Yu and Chi Jing took the elevator straight to Tang Shen’s office.

At the Huaguo branch, Tang Shen had long been given full control by Tang Zhengqing, serving as a form of training. Therefore, there was no office for Tang Zhengqing here; he now shared an office with Tang Shen to handle company matters.

Tang Shen’s office was on the middle floor. As soon as the elevator doors opened, Chi Jing and Chi Yu instantly attracted the attention of a group of people outside the elevator.

Chi Yu blinked and led Chi Jing out of the elevator.

Seeing that the group of people were all holding documents, Chi Jing assumed they were there to report something to Tang Shen or Tang Zhengqing.

Since Tang Shen must have already informed his assistant about the document delivery, the assistant quickly came over to escort them to his office.

The office was divided into two parts but shared a reception area.

Chi Jing sat in the reception area, crossed his legs, and while sending a message to Jiang Yucheng about landing safely, he chatted with Chi Yu.

“Why are there so many people?”

Chi Yu and Chi Jing had just exited the elevator when Tang Shen and Tang Zhengqing returned to the office.

Upon entering, Tang Shen’s face still showed signs of anger, and he had undone the top button of his shirt.

However, his irritation vanished as soon as he saw Chi Jing and Chi Yu.

Tang Zhengqing was also momentarily taken aback and turned to him.

“I asked Dad to send the document. It looks like he brought Chi Jing along as well,” Tang Shen said, unbuttoning his cuffs, “It’s just about lunchtime. Let’s have a meal together.”

Chi Jing nodded and took a couple of steps toward the sofa before suddenly remembering something. He turned to Tang Zhengqing.

Tang Zhengqing, feeling scrutinized by his son, tightened his lips and asked, “What’s the matter?”

Chi Jing said nothing but gave a slow glance towards the lipstick on the desk before looking back.

It was his way of subtly informing his father, leaving the rest to him and his dad.

Noticing the lipstick, Tang Zhengqing looked puzzled for a moment. Hearing Chi Yu’s cold snort, he stiffened even more.

“Yu…”

After he calmed down Chi Yu, Chi Jing raised his hand on the reception room sofa and asked, “Shall we go for lunch? I’m hungry.”

Tang Shen immediately pulled out his phone, “I’ll book a private room.”

Chi Yu stopped him, “Doesn’t this branch have a cafeteria? Let’s eat there.”

Tang Shen considered it, “Alright, but it’s just about lunchtime, so the cafeteria might be crowded.”

Chi Yu said, “So what? It’s not like Chi Jing and I can’t handle being around people.”

Tang Zhengqing agreed, “Then let’s go.”

The cafeteria’s food was surprisingly good. Chi Jing sat by the window, not far from a group of employees gossiping softly.

The table had seasonal crayfish, and Tang Zhengqing was using disposable gloves to peel them for Chi Yu.

Chi Jing, seeing the thick shells of the crayfish and not having Jiang Yucheng around, decided not to bother with them.

He opted for the steamed fish rice, but soon, a peeled piece of shrimp landed in his bowl.

He followed the movement and saw Tang Shen skillfully peeling the next crayfish.

Sensing Chi Jing’s gaze, he looked up, puzzled, “Don’t you like it?”

“No, I do.” Chi Jing wasn’t picky with food. He took the piece of shrimp and enjoyed the ones Tang Shen continued to peel for him.

After lunch, Tang Shen had to get back to work, but Tang Zhengqing left the company affairs to him and went home with Chi Jing and Chi Yu.

Although it was just a small daily event, Chi Jing forgot that despite not having many works yet, his trending status was high enough that he could be recognized on the street at any time.

So before he went to bed that night, he received a forwarded forum post from Mu Jingshan.

It was from an anonymous forum specializing in entertainment industry gossip. Curious about the post, he read through it, although the various black codes and letter abbreviations made him feel like he didn’t know Chinese characters anymore. He eventually gave up.

But since it concerned him, he quickly understood the content of the post Mu Jingshan had forwarded.

Title: “Today I saw the top leader of our company having a close meal with the hottest black-red celebrity. My boss even peeled crayfish for him.”

Main Post: “I always thought this person had a strong backing, but didn’t expect it to be related to our company.”

Replies also accumulated, and Chi Jing wondered if he was indeed so popular recently.

**[Who? Stop teasing us.]**

**[Does this forum ever not tease? But I do recognize this black-red celebrity. It’s probably the one involved in the scandal with JYC recently.]**

**[CJ??? Is he really black-red?]**

**[The point isn’t whether he’s black-red. I’m curious about which company the original poster is referring to.]**

Anonymous Poster: **[We are a well-known foreign company’s branch in Haishi. Although just a branch, the company’s building and cafeteria are among the best in the country. I won’t say more, or I’ll be caught.]**

**[From the tone, I think I know who it is. Isn’t it the high-profile “High Brother”? Why is he showing off his company again?]**

**[I missed something? Why is “High Brother” showing off his company?]**

**[It’s just that the poster feels proud of their company and thinks they’re amazing. Everyone’s just jealous of a good job.]**

**[I think I figured out which company High Brother is from. It should be MAG’s Haishi branch, which has recently been recruiting. It seems like Haishi is now the focus for the company’s development in Huaguo.]**

**[I thought the focus was on Jing City according to the press conference. Did they change their plans?]**

**[No, they just changed their focus. But I’m not sure why.]**

**[Hurry up and submit your resume.]**

**[It seems that Tang Shen is responsible for all branches in Huaguo. So it’s really Tang Shen and Chi Jing?]**

**[Use abbreviations! Don’t use full names or the post will be deleted.]**

**[I’ll reply after my interview. Maybe I’ll get to see who this High Brother really is.]**

**[So CJ does have a background? No wonder he has such good resources, able to get such high-profile gigs right after entering the industry.]**

**[So JYC and CJ are unrelated? What a disappointment.]**

**[TS? I can’t find this person. Anxious to know more.]**

**[Handsome. His dad is also handsome. Too bad he married early, and reportedly to a man.]**

**[Handsome and wealthy, also devoted. Supposedly started training his son early to hand over the company and travel with his wife.]**

**[Envious.]**

**[It seems CJ is really good-looking. He’s the type who can attract a lot of people effortlessly (I like him too. I’m a fan of good looks).]**

**[A fan of Jiang Yucheng breaking down quietly. I thought Jiang might be single…]**

**[It’s hard to say. I’ve been a fan of him for years and feel like he looks at CJ differently than others. Heartbroken for Jiang.]**

**[Forget it. Spend time caring for yourself instead!]**
