Chapter 39
The absurd affair lasted a long time.
By the time Chi Jing stood under the sun again, it was already mid-August.
In the midst of summer, he walked into the kitchen, placing a glass in the sink while simultaneously opening the window. Sunlight poured in, accompanied by the noise of the outside and the fragrance of flowers in the breeze.
He stood there for a moment, leaning on the sink.
Hmm… After such a long period of absurdity, his legs felt a bit weak.
The phone on the counter buzzed, and he picked it up to see it was a call from Chi Yu.
“Hello, Dad.”
Chi Yu’s voice was cheerful: “Is your maturation period over yet?”
He was quite accurate. Since three days ago, Chi Jing’s maturation period had been gradually fading, and by yesterday, all the intense passion had completely dissipated.
He had kicked Jiang Yucheng out of the villa that night and locked the door.
However, Jiang Yucheng had received a phone call as he left, from someone who sounded quite important.
“It’s over,” Chi Jing said, lowering his head as he turned on the water to wash the glass in the sink.
Since Chi Yu found him, in addition to frantically buying various houses, cars, and luxury items as a form of revenge compensation, he had also arranged for a housekeeper and butler to take care of his daily life. But Chi Jing didn’t like having too many outsiders around the house, so he ended up keeping only the housekeeper who came regularly to clean and cook.
Because the villa was full of traces of their activities during his maturation period, he had given the housekeeper a break and she would resume work the next day.
Chi Yu: “Have you eaten? I passed by a really good seafood restaurant today.”
Chi Jing thought for a moment and said, “Get two servings.”
Chi Yu: “Okay, okay, I’ll be there soon.”
Half an hour later, Chi Jing had tidied up the dining area, and Chi Yu arrived at the villa carrying a large bag of seafood.
After not seeing him for half a month, Chi Yu threw himself at him when he saw him.
“Chi Jing!”
Chi Jing calmly caught the seafood, which was to be his lunch.
“Dad, tidy up a bit. I’m going to call Jiang Yucheng for lunch.” He placed the seafood on the dining table and then went next door to the villa.
At the door of the neighboring villa, he knocked lightly, and without waiting for a response, he used his fingerprint to unlock the door and went inside.
“Jiang Yucheng.” Chi Jing changed his shoes and walked into the living room, muttering to himself, “Where are you? Did you vanish after bed?”
His grumbling abruptly stopped when he saw a middle-aged couple sitting in the living room.
Switching to Jiang Yucheng’s side.
When his maturation period ended, Jiang Yucheng had also received a call from his parents, who decided to visit after learning that he was staying in the Binjiang Road villa area.
After spending some time with his parents, Jiang Yucheng decided to take a quick shower. And then the following happened.
As soon as he came downstairs, he met the disapproving and reproachful gazes of his parents.
He walked over to Chi Jing and noticed his awkward stance, guessing something had happened that he was unaware of.
“What’s wrong?”
“…” Chi Jing hadn’t expected to run into such an epic awkward moment.
“Mm?” He lowered his voice, his breath warm on Chi Jing’s neck, “Lost in thought?”
Chi Jing steadied himself and nudged him.
“Are these your parents?”
“Yes.”
“I might have said some things they shouldn’t have heard,” Chi Jing tactfully said.
No wonder his parents had looked at him with those kinds of expressions.
Jiang Yucheng nodded and lightly patted his back: “Are you feeling any discomfort?”
Chi Jing shook his head.
He planned to solve this by avoiding it.
“You continue, I’ll go eat.” He said this and turned to leave, only to be followed by Jiang Yucheng.
In the small garden, he grabbed Chi Jing’s wrist and glanced back.
Seeing his parents still peeking out, he took him to a secluded corner.
Chi Jing: “Let go.”
Jiang Yucheng released his hand and started massaging his shoulders.
“Here to ask me to eat?”
“Of course.” After the previous awkward scene, Chi Jing’s expression was stiff, “Why are you following me?”
Jiang Yucheng: “Just wanted to talk. I’ll come over to your place later.”
Guessing he would bring up his parents, Jiang Yucheng covered his mouth.
“They just came to visit. I’ll explain everything clearly. Don’t worry.” He quickly explained and, before Chi Jing could get angry, moved his hand away and ruffled his hair. “Let’s go eat.”
Chi Jing: “Do as you like.”
Saying this, he turned and walked away, his back suggesting he was fleeing.
Jiang Yucheng shook his head with a mix of affection and amusement. He had just showered, and his hair was still damp. He rushed downstairs upon hearing Chi Jing’s voice.
The weather in mid-August was extremely hot. Even though there were trees in the garden providing some shade, it was still unbearable after a while.
He loosened the top two buttons of his shirt and returned to the living room.
Sure enough, he was met with his parents’ inquisitive gazes.
His father and mother were of the early marriage and late childbirth type. They had been busy with their careers for years until an unexpected pregnancy led them to have him.
Thus, in their fifties, his parents had noticeable wrinkles but maintained an elegant posture.
Seeing Jiang Yucheng burst out of the villa like a lovesick fool, and then return after a while, his father cleared his throat and asked, “Who was that just now?”
Jiang Yucheng: “Your son-in-law.”
His mother asked the crucial question calmly: “Are you two dating?”
“…” he lowered his gaze, “No.”
Jiang’s mother: “So, you’re in unrequited love.”
“…” he replied, “Yes.”
His mother mockingly laughed: “You don’t seem like your father at all.”
He coldly said: “If you hadn’t come, we would have been dating today.”
His mother smiled: “We weren’t planning to stay long anyway, we’re leaving.”
Jiang’s father: “Hey, I haven’t finished asking.”
Jiang’s mother: “Staying here will only disturb your son’s pursuit efficiency. I doubt he’ll catch up.”
Jiang Yucheng wouldn’t just stand there watching his parents leave. He saw them out of the villa area and then headed straight for Chi Jing’s villa.
At this moment, Chi Jing was focused on eating.
Hearing the doorbell, he checked the person outside via his phone—Jiang Yucheng.
He seemed to have resolved things with his parents faster than he had imagined.
While he watched him through the surveillance camera, Jiang Yucheng suddenly looked up at the door camera.
Realizing Chi Jing was watching him, he smiled at the camera.
Seeing that sudden smile, Chi Jing didn’t feel like he was caught doing something wrong. Instead, he opened the remote audio.
“My maturation period is over. Why are you here?”
Through the camera, Jiang Yucheng leaned against the door frame with his arms crossed and said with interest, “Aren’t you the one who invited me to eat?”
Chi Jing, chewing on a crab leg, replied vaguely, “Nonsense, I don’t care if you eat or not.”
Jiang Yucheng: “Well, but I bought that lemonade tea from the entrance of the community. Want some?”
There was a lemonade tea shop at the entrance of the villa area, and Chi Jing knew the taste was different from other places—refreshing without being cloying, and without a faint bitterness. It was very good.
With the lemonade tea he had been craving right at the door, he quickly opened it remotely.
Jiang Yucheng placed three cups of lemonade on the dining table, clearly anticipating Chi Yu’s visit.
Chi Yu and Chi Jing were indeed father and son, sharing almost identical tastes.
Seeing the lemonade tea bags with the community’s logo, Chi Yu’s eyes lit up.
He picked up one of the bags of lemonade tea, waved at Chi Jing and Jiang Yucheng, and then left without disturbing them.
Jiang Yucheng pulled out the chair next to Chi Jing and began skillfully peeling shrimp and crab for him, providing attentive service.
Chi Jing only had to open his mouth and eat.
He began to forgive him, despite the fact that just a day earlier, he had made him lose focus in his eyes.
He didn’t want to admit that although the experience had been overly intense at times, the overall process had been very enjoyable.
With Jiang Yucheng serving as his shrimp-peeling assistant, he took off his disposable gloves and began playing on his phone while waiting for Jiang Yucheng’s feeding.
He caught up on the gossip he had missed over the past half month—like a newly debuted male idol being photographed with a fan, a film queen announcing her divorce three days ago, a male actor under investigation for tax evasion, and marketing photos of himself and Jiang Yucheng being ambiguous.
Hmm???
His actions paused as he scrolled back to take another look.
Oh, he hadn’t read it wrong. It was indeed gossip about him and Jiang Yucheng.
He wasn’t bothered by it being about him. On the contrary, he ate with gusto and even nudged Jiang Yucheng to explain the weirdest comments.
Jiang Yucheng, seeing that he wasn’t upset, explained everything while quietly noting down the usernames to report to his manager Xu Meng.
At the end of the gossip session, Chi Jing saw that the scandal had been concluded with Jiang Yucheng liking a post about himself on his main account. He casually said, “Why didn’t you clarify? You’re not trying to pursue me, are you?”
“Mm.”
Chi Jing: “Got it, I refuse.”
Jiang Yucheng placed a piece of crab meat, dipped in sauce, by his lips, waiting for him to open his mouth.
“Really not considering it?”
Chi Jing: “Not considering it.”
Jiang Yucheng: “Why not? Is it because I’m not good-looking or not capable enough? Didn’t your maturation period go well?”
Mention of the maturation period made Chi Jing close his mouth.
Jiang Yucheng was right. If not for his strong personal abilities, he wouldn’t have managed to get through the maturation period with just a few food sources.
“I have many manor villas. I can give them all to you in the future.” Jiang Yucheng spoke almost as if he were tempting him.
Of course, Chi Jing wasn’t a naive three-year-old easily deceived.
But those countless manor villas were indeed tempting, and Jiang Yucheng’s taste aligned well with his, saving him from having to redecorate the houses.
Moreover, Jiang Yucheng wasn’t exaggerating. He was truly good-looking, and so far, Chi Jing hadn’t seen anyone who met his taste better than him.
Chi Jing pondered for a few seconds before giving his answer.
“Alright.”
“Let’s be together. Remember to send me the information on those manor villas.”
