After the succubus became a fake young master that everyone disliked

Chapter 17

For Chi Jing, filming a show was just like going to work.

If he didn’t have to work, he’d probably be lounging in his small apartment right now.

Maybe on a raised bunk bed, or on a fabric sofa by the floor-to-ceiling window, soaking up the weak sunlight that filtered through the curtains, enjoying the air conditioning.

Instead, he was forced out of bed to record the show.

He pulled the blanket over himself and lay back down, opening his phone’s camera to check his horns.

They seemed to have grown a bit more, though not as excessively sensitive as when they first appeared.

In the end, he got up just in time, receiving a grumpy scolding from Gan Heyu.

“Nowadays young people, don’t you know the old saying? The early bird catches the worm. You need to be energetic. Getting up early also lets you breathe fresh air—”

“Have you finished eating?” Chi Jing interrupted his lecture while swallowing a few bites of dry European bread.

Gan Heyu huffed arrogantly, “Of course. I got up an hour ago to eat and have been waiting for you—”

“Then you should head to the car,” Chi Jing said, taking a sip of the bitter coffee Shen Yixeng had bought that morning. The sharp taste briefly roused him from his drowsiness.

As Gan Heyu got up, Chi Jing added coolly, “Also, older people need less sleep.”

Gan Heyu was so angry he nearly blew his top but couldn’t do anything about it.

Shen Yixeng gave him a thumbs-up for daring to stand up to Gan Heyu.

For standing up to him, he was willing to forgo his dignity and shout, “Brother!”

After breakfast, all the guests had to visit a mandatory sightseeing spot. After the visit, Lu Tao transferred them to a commercial center.

Lu Tao, hiding sneakily behind the camera, handed out new tasks.

“Next, you all need to work part-time on this commercial street for half a day to raise funds for the next leg of the trip.”

Everyone: …

Ou’er Bai was almost laughing in anger. “Director, only half a day? Is today April Fools’ Day?”

Ignoring their complaints, the director continued, “The production team will provide four job opportunities. The remaining three need to find part-time work on their own.”

Chi Jing asked with interest, “Any kind of job?”

Lu Tao confirmed, “Any kind of job!”

An Boqing, trembling slightly, said, “Director, but my English isn’t very good. I’m worried about communication problems if I work alone.”

Lu Tao waved his hand grandly, and staff immediately presented a row of translation devices.

“Don’t worry. I’ve prepared a translator for each of you.”

“…” Though it wasn’t very reliable, it solved the immediate problem, leaving everyone with no further objections.

The four part-time jobs provided by the production team were:

Supermarket cashier.
Employee at a cultural product store introducing products to customers.
Makeup assistant at a cosmetics store.
Half-day model.

As the oldest elder, Gan Heyu naturally chose the supermarket cashier position first. The remaining six guests had to choose among themselves.

Chi Jing looked around, put his hands in his pockets, and turned away casually, leaving a single line, “You all can choose.”

Shen Yixeng and An Boqing exchanged glances.

Luo Yiwen boldly chose the model position, followed closely by Ou’er Bai, who went to the cosmetics store to help with makeup.

This left the cultural product store as the only available option.

An Boqing, who didn’t want to find a job on his own due to his poor social skills and lack of experience, felt pressured by a notable figure.

“Brother Jiang, why don’t you take this last job?”

Shen Yixeng nodded in agreement. “Yes, Brother Jiang, I just saw the store is right ahead.”

Jiang Yucheng retracted his gaze from Chi Jing’s back.

“No need, you all choose.”

With that, he turned and walked off with a clear direction.

Chi Jing arrived in front of a bar.

He stood by the roadside, staring at the recruitment notice for a long time before walking in, ignoring the staff following him.

The bar’s owner, a young woman dressed in a sexy halter dress with wavy hair and red lips, greeted him.

“Oh, darling, we’re a members-only place. Do you have a membership?”

Though it was a question of identity, the owner’s high emotional intelligence made it sound friendly rather than harsh.

“No,” Chi Jing replied. “I’m here for a job. You need a DJ to liven up the atmosphere this afternoon.”

“Of course,” the owner agreed. “But I need a quick interview. As you know, our afternoon event is very important.”

He looked around the bar. It was just past noon, and the bar was still empty except for cleaning staff and bartenders.

In the center of the bar stood a raised platform with musical instruments and DJ equipment.

“Can I use that?”

“Maybe. Do you need to find other musicians to help?”

“No need.”

He wasn’t a professional DJ but had learned it as a hobby in his senior year of high school. Back then, with heavy study pressure and Wen Zhentian’s neglect, he often snuck into a nearby bar to sing, having learned basic singing techniques.

The interview was a success, and the owner joyfully gave him a hug.

“Interested in a long-term position?” the owner asked.

“Sorry, I’m here for a travel variety show and will be leaving next week,” he apologized with a smile.

“Alright, such a pity.” The owner circled around him. “The event starts at 4 PM. You might need to change your clothes.”

“No need.” he sat behind the DJ equipment, his eyes sparkling. “But I might need you to prepare something for me.”

By 4 PM, more customers were filling the bar.

Chi Jing sat at the bar, many patrons immediately noticing him when they entered.

Without a hat, the horns on his head were clearly visible under the red and blue bar lights.

The bartender skillfully showcased his techniques in front of him, placing the finished drinks beside him with a smile.

“This drink is called ‘Charm of the Night,’ which suits you perfectly,” the bartender said, pulling up a bar stool and introducing his self-created drink. “Have you heard of succubi?”

Chi Jing swirled his drink, the ice cubes clinking.

“Mm, I have.”

The bartender smiled. “You look like a succubus. Did you get those horns from the boss?”

“Yes.” Chi Jing tilted his head back and drank the entire glass. “I’m going to work now. Thanks for the drink.”

“No problem. It’s my honor.”

He went backstage to prepare but unexpectedly ran into Chen Guangji.

“Ah, we meet again.” Chen Guangji remembered his striking appearance. “What a coincidence, we’re meeting again in Country F.”

“It is quite a coincidence,” he replied, surprised.

“What are you filming?” Chen Guangji squinted at the variety show sign on the camera equipment. “A variety show?”

“Mm, I’m doing part-time work,” Chi Jing estimated the time. “We can chat after I finish my job.”

“Sure, I’ll take you to see my older brother. You two really look alike,” Chen Guangji said cheerfully, his pink hair very conspicuous in the dim environment.

He returned to his table, eagerly sharing his encounter with Tang Shen.

Tang Shen, a young but composed man in a black suit, had just finished his official duties and was now seated.

“Boss, I saw that big beauty I told you about last time,” Chen Guangji said excitedly.

Tang Shen relaxed on the sofa, leaning back with his arms draped over the backrest. “You called me over just to see him?”

He shook his head. “Of course not. It’s just a coincidence. He seems to be a star filming a variety show. I just wanted you to see this lively bar today.”

Tang Shen’s interest waned as soon as he heard the person was a star.

As usual, Chi Jing paid no attention to Chen Guangji’s comments.

He went to the backstage changing room, found the succubus horn and tail props prepared by the owner, and discarded the horn prop in the trash.

Hide the evidence.

With the DJ equipment set up, he took his place behind the turntables.

The lights on the stage suddenly brightened, illuminating the small circular stage.

As the lights came on, he was met with cheers from the crowd.

Wearing a white casual shirt with a beige coat on top for warmth, he took off the coat because the bar’s temperature was suitable and to facilitate DJing. His sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, revealing his slender, pale arms.

At that moment, he was the focal point of the bar.

Under the dazzling lights, he skillfully navigated between the turntables and buttons. The records on the turntable became more upbeat and lively, blending the music, lights, and bar atmosphere into one.

As he DJed, the succubus tail behind him swayed enticingly.

At the peak of the music, he emptied his hands and moved freely with the rhythm.

As night fell and the lights flickered, the white casual shirt he wore subtly revealed his slim waist.

Screams, whistles, and some suggestive comments mixed with the smell of cigarettes and alcohol filled the bar.

It was a successful event, with Chi Jing easily igniting the customers’ nightlife enthusiasm.

Only the camera crew in the corner was distressed.

They stood alongside Qin Qiaohan, looking troubled.

“Do you think this can air?” the camera crew member pondered the content’s rating.

Qin Qiaohan replied, “It should be fine. It’s not like there’s nudity, just a succubus horn and tail prop.”

The camera crew member turned to him, looking expressionless. “Are you sure?”

Although Chi Jing was fully dressed, his performance was even more captivating than if he had been naked.

Qin Qiaohan wasn’t sure, but it wasn’t their concern.

“It’s fine. That’s up to editing and the director,” she said, expertly deflecting the issue.

On the other side of the bar, Chen Guangji filmed the entire performance with his phone, joining in the cheering.

“So cool,” he said with flushed cheeks. “I’m almost bent out of shape.”

Tang Shen couldn’t help but be drawn to Chi Jing’s performance, though he was more focused on his face.

Not only was he good-looking, but Chen Guangji’s comment also caught his attention.

He did look a bit like the dazzling little star on stage.
