After the car accident, my boyfriend got straight

Chapter 25

After dinner, Jiang Shiyu was full and sleepy, barely able to keep his eyes open while following Shen Li. Finding his efforts to stay awake adorable, Shen Li decided to take him back to his dorm first.

Jiang Shiyu sat on the edge of the bed, scratching his face, “Aren’t we going to the seafood buffet?”

“You take a nap in the dorm, I’ll go,” Shen Li replied.

As the main character, he couldn’t skip the event. Jiang Shiyu took off his shoes and coat, climbed into bed, rubbed his cheek against the pillow, and quickly fell asleep.

Standing by the bed, Shen Li watched him sleep. Strange yet familiar fragments flashed through his mind. Scenes from different times and places where he quietly watched Jiang Shiyu’s sleeping face. His heart tightened again, the suffocating feeling surged, and his head throbbed sharply. A flash of white light blurred his vision, and he steadied himself by holding onto the bed.

When he opened his eyes again, Jiang Shiyu had unknowingly turned over, facing him with his hands under his face.

He recalled Jiang Shiyu’s words at the school gate, how he instinctively said, “You don’t like it,” and the subsequent fear and unease on his face, making his heart ache.

He knew that Jiang Shiyu’s current dependence and indulgence towards him stemmed from the former Shen Li, the one who shared mutual affection and memories with him.

What if he never remembered? What if he forever forgot their past interactions? Would Jiang Shiyu still like the current him?

Subconsciously, he wanted to avoid this question because he wasn’t sure. He relied on the former Shen Li to draw Jiang Shiyu unconditionally towards him.

He might not even realize that since waking up from the car accident and hearing about his past with Jiang Shiyu, his initial feelings of disgust and rejection had gradually turned into curiosity through unintentional interactions.

Now, this person held an increasingly significant place in his heart. He couldn’t help but pay attention to everything related to him, feeling jealous of those close to him, and developing an uncontrollable possessiveness.

Leaning against the bed, he gently touched Jiang Shiyu’s cheek. Soft and warm, just like him—obviously a fragile and delicate person, yet exceptionally persistent and resilient. Despite all the harsh words and malice from his amnesiac self, Jiang Shiyu never gave up.

“You must love him a lot, Jiang Shiyu,” Shen Li thought.

The Shen Li who shared memories with him.

Unable to resist, he pinched the sleeping boy’s chin. “Jiang Shiyu, it’s me by your side now, and it’s me who shares those memories with you, got it?”

Although they were the same person, Shen Li couldn’t help but feel jealous of his former self, who received so much affection and reliance from Jiang Shiyu. Even now, he owed his closeness to the past.

Jiang Shiyu felt uncomfortable in his sleep, dreaming of eating but being unable to open his mouth due to someone pinching his chin. He struggled to open his mouth but in vain, his eyes reddening in frustration.

Shen Li stared at him, his dark eyes deep and somber. He thought about how if the car accident had also caused Jiang Shiyu to lose his memory, they could start anew without the past.

But then, he couldn’t bear the thought of him getting hurt. He didn’t like seeing him weak and lying in a hospital bed, like a withering flower losing its vitality.

It seemed like two people were fighting in his mind. One was dark and violent, the other rational and strict. One shouted to never remember because Jiang Shiyu only loved the former Shen Li, and once he regained his memory, the current Shen Li would be erased. The other seriously stated that no matter whom Jiang Shiyu loved, he shouldn’t stop him. The choice was his, and without regaining his memory, Jiang Shiyu would never truly be happy.

He felt his head was about to explode as the sharp pain returned. He released Jiang Shiyu’s chin, and the sleeping boy immediately opened and closed his mouth as if biting something.

The tip of his red, wet tongue was faintly visible.

Shen Li’s eyes reddened, staring hard at the full, moist lips, the lip bead round and tempting, inviting someone to taste.

Kneeling on one knee, his pose was reverent, but as he bent down, he revealed danger and a desire to invade. He lowered his head, enveloping the soft lips, a sigh escaping his mouth, matching the imagined sensation.

Like a rose just plucked in the morning dew, tender and vibrant, the petals soft and moist. Gently prying open the enclosed petals, bit by bit, he approached the core, where the moisture and fragrance intensified. Fearing to wake Jiang Shiyu, he cautiously traced the shape of his lips. When he couldn’t resist, he slipped his tongue through the gap, going deeper, touching teeth.

Jiang Shiyu dreamed of eating an ice pop. His poor health meant that even in the hottest summer, Shen Li wouldn’t let him finish one. He could only have two-thirds at most. Now he was hiding in the dorm, nibbling on a milk-flavored ice pop. Cold and cool, though not very tasty, the ice pop moved against his lips, occasionally slipping inside and touching his teeth, making them cold. He eagerly licked, but the ice pop seemed to have a mind of its own, pulling away whenever he tried. Frustrated, he closed his mouth tight, refusing to open it, but the ice pop pressed against his lips, gently prying them open again. He wanted to keep his mouth shut, but the ice pop mischievously chilled his teeth. Unable to hold back, he opened his mouth, his tongue teased by the ice pop. As it melted, water dripped, the sound echoing in his ears. He tried to swallow, wanting to drink all the melted ice pop water.

Shen Li’s eyes were bloodshot, like a lion eyeing its prey, barely restraining himself. He withdrew his tongue from Jiang Shiyu’s mouth, a silver thread connecting them, unexpectedly erotic.

Breathing heavily, veins bulging on his hands, his black eyes tinted with red. He pulled himself up, suddenly aware of what he’d done. He felt like a thief sneaking into a maiden’s room, taking advantage of her while she slept.

He hurriedly stood, stepping back without daring to look at Jiang Shiyu, and fled the dorm room.

After he left, Jiang Shiyu turned over in bed, his lips red and slightly pouting. He smacked his lips twice, buried his head, and fell into a deeper sleep.

In the buffet restaurant, Chen Xu was selecting lobsters, turning them over with tongs to find the best-looking one. Turning around, he saw Shen Li entering from the doorway.

His features were tightly knit, looking troubled.

Carrying his plate, Chen Xu approached, “Li, why are you so late? Look at those animals; they’ve already gone through a round of lobsters, and they’re still eating.”

At this age, boys naturally had big appetites, especially athletes who consumed a lot of energy and ate even more. They had almost devoured half the restaurant.

“Something came up and delayed me.”

Chen Xu glanced behind him, “Where’s Jiang Shiyu? Why didn’t he come with you? Li Muzi said he couldn’t reach him by phone.”

Hearing his name, Shen Li’s face stiffened visibly. After a few seconds, he replied, “He’s allergic to many seafoods. I took him to eat in the back street and sent him back to rest.”

Chen Xu didn’t notice his strangeness, smiling mischievously, “Tsk, if we could rewind to the beginning of the semester and tell you that in a few months, you’d be sticking your hot face to him, what would you think?”

Shen Li didn’t know what he would have thought back then. Now, his mind was a mess, filled with the memory of sneaking a kiss from Jiang Shiyu, the soft sensation of his lips lingering, making him constantly want to touch them.

“Hey, Li, what are you thinking about so deeply?”

Chen Xu waved a hand in front of his face, snapping him out of his thoughts.

Shen Li turned back, saying it was nothing. Seeing his teammates enjoying their meal in the distance, he suddenly thought of something and turned to Chen Xu, “Tell them to be polite to Jiang Shiyu and watch their words when they see him.”

Chen Xu’s lobster jumped on his plate, and his eyelid twitched. Shen Li’s meaning was clear.

Seeing his lack of reaction, Shen Li emphasized, “Did you hear me?”

Chen Xu quickly nodded, “Got it, got it. So, should we call him the same as before, ‘sister-in-law’?”

Shen Li frowned, “No, just call him normally, but be respectful.”

“Got it.”

He clinked glasses with his teammates and chatted briefly before finding a corner seat. He took out his phone, scrolling through something without eating.

Li Muzi, taking the lobster Chen Xu fished out of the pot, asked, “Did you ask Shen Li about Jiang Shiyu? Where is he?”

Chen Xu replied, “Li said he took Jiang Shiyu to eat and sent him back to rest.”

“Then why does he look so upset, like he’s in a bad mood? Did they fight again?”

Thinking about Shen Li’s earlier words at the door, Chen Xu shook his head, “I don’t think so. Li even told me to remind everyone to be polite to Jiang Shiyu, just like he did when he first brought him to the swim team before he lost his memory. Even the tone was the same, afraid we’d offend him.”

“That shouldn’t be it. He just won a championship, didn’t fight with Jiang Shiyu, so why does he look so gloomy?”

Li Muzi wondered, picking up her phone and sneaking a photo of Shen Li, sending it. He typed quickly.

“What did you two do this afternoon? Shen Li looks upset.”

Jiang Shiyu was napping and couldn’t reply immediately. Li Muzi didn’t mind, diving back into his seafood feast.

In the corner, Shen Li was repeatedly scrolling through his Moments, his finger rubbing over a photo of him carrying Jiang Shiyu in the snow. This was the only real, recorded evidence of their time together.

After a while, he edited a photo taken earlier at the dessert shop. In it, Jiang Shiyu looked at the camera with clear, bright eyes, sunlight on his head, looking almost unreal.

He added a caption and set the post to be visible only to himself.
