Chapter 1
At midnight, two car accident victims were hurriedly brought into the emergency department of Jiang Hua Hospital. The on-duty doctor had already received a call before their arrival, learning that one of the patients was the eldest son of the Shen Group. The orders from above were clear: no matter what methods were necessary, his life must be saved without any mistakes.
A group of people rushed the stretcher into the operating room. The lead surgeon quickly changed into surgical attire and entered. Upon seeing the scene inside the operating room, he paused for a moment, frowned, and asked the assistant beside him, “What’s going on here?”
Lying on the operating table was indeed Shen Li, the eldest son of the Shen Group. He had already lost consciousness and was at the mercy of the medical staff.
Next to the operating table was another stretcher, also occupied by a person whose hand was tightly held by Shen Li. When they were found at the accident scene, he was clutching the boy in his arms.
The medical staff had a hard time separating them, but no matter how hard they tried, they couldn’t pry apart their clasped hands. To avoid delaying the surgery, they had no choice but to bring both of them into the operating room together.
After hearing this, the lead surgeon first walked over to the stretcher to look at the unconscious person lying on it. The boy’s porcelain-white face was splattered with blood, his delicate eyebrows furrowed tightly, indicating extreme distress. Given that they were both at the car accident scene, even if their injuries varied in severity, the difference shouldn’t have been so stark. It was evident that this boy was much less injured than Shen Li; at least, there were no visible wounds.
“Dr. Liu, what should we do?” The assistant looked troubled, glancing at their clasped hands and then at the lead surgeon.
After a few seconds of contemplation, the lead surgeon made a quick decision. “Start the surgery immediately.”
That night, news of Shen Li, the sole heir of the Shen Group, being rushed to the hospital due to a car accident quietly climbed the trending searches, sparking widespread discussion.
“Is this the Shen Group I know? A prestigious family with immense power and wealth, their lineage has been the richest for countless generations. This is straight out of a novel or TV drama.”
“I heard that the eldest son is still studying at Jiang Cheng University. He’s super handsome, and there were photos of him circulating online before his identity was revealed. He gained a bit of fame until the Shen Group managed to suppress it.”
“So it turns out to be the eldest son of a wealthy family. Speeding at midnight to show off, no wonder the car accident was so serious.”
Even in the middle of the night, the discussion under this trending topic became increasingly intense. Within half an hour, the trending topic was taken down, and any news about the car accident involving the Shen Group’s heir had disappeared without a trace.
At 2 a.m., the doors of the emergency operating room opened from the inside. The Shen couple, who had rushed over upon hearing the news, waited outside. The first thing the doctor said upon coming out was that the surgery went well and there were no major issues.
Everyone present breathed a sigh of relief. As the patients were transferred to the ward, Shen Qingtong’s secretary stepped forward to coordinate follow-up matters with the doctor.
When Bai Yun saw the tightly clasped hands on the two stretchers being pushed out, her eyes instantly reddened.
“Doctor, are both kids alright? Especially Shiyu. He’s had a heart condition since childhood and has always been in poor health. Could the severe car accident have any impact on him?”
The lead surgeon knew that one of the patients brought in was the sole heir of the Shen family, but he wasn’t aware of the identity of the other person.
However, seeing how protectively Shen Li had held him, he understood the importance. So, after operating on him, he also examined the other person.
“Mrs. Shen, I did a preliminary examination of this person in the operating room. There are no visible external injuries, just dizziness caused by the severe impact. Once he wakes up, we can conduct a full-body check.”
“Alright, thank you, doctor.”
The car accident had worried many people, but fortunately, there were no major injuries in the end. In the hospital room, the two single beds were pushed closely together, and the two people lying on them still held hands.
It seemed as though something was beginning to shift in their fate.
