Chapter 25
Chapter 25: I Said, It Won’t Be Over:
“What suggestion?”
“Since this started because of basketball, let’s settle it with basketball. We’ll play a game, and the first team to score fifty points wins. If you win, I’ll make him apologize without a word. If we win, we forget this ever happened. How about it?” Wang Chuan said with a smile.
He had a well-laid plan. The crew-cut guy was on the school basketball team, and his skills were top-notch. The others playing with them were also school team members, which meant an ordinary team had no chance against them.
Moreover, Wang Chuan himself was very skilled at basketball, thanks to his high school days of practice. He had worked hard back then to impress girls and had developed excellent basketball skills. Though not on par with the school team members, he could easily outplay average players.
In comparison, what did Qin Luo’s team have?
Han Yiqun was a sturdy guy, and Qin Luo had a height of over 1.8 meters with a well-proportioned body. But beyond them, Wang Chen and Li Xuan weren’t up to the task. One was a frail-looking guy, and the other was a short, chubby guy.
With such a lineup, how could they compete against a team of experts? Moreover, they only had four people, not even enough for a proper match. Everyone could see that Wang Chuan was deliberately targeting their weaknesses.
Hot-tempered Han Yiqun was the first to curse, “Damn, your team is full of school basketball players. How do we play?”
The crew-cut guy sneered, “If you’re scared, just forget it. No one’s forcing you. Cowards.”
He deliberately taunted them to provoke Qin Luo into accepting the challenge, thinking this would give him a chance to show off his skills and step on Qin Luo.
Although there was no deep hatred between them, Qin Luo’s aggressive attitude had annoyed him. With Wang Chuan’s setup, he didn’t want to miss this opportunity.
Han Yiqun gritted his teeth, wanting to curse more, but he wasn’t stupid. He could see through their provocation. Apart from himself and Qin Luo, Wang Chen and Li Xuan were useless, and they didn’t even have five players for a match.
At this moment, Ji Yan walked up to Qin Luo, tugging at his sleeve and shaking her head, “I’m fine. Let’s just forget it.”
Qin Luo coldly said to the crew-cut guy, “I said, it won’t be over. Basketball, right? Fine.”
His three roommates, initially hesitant, became serious after hearing Qin Luo. Han Yiqun immediately said, “I’ll go find another person to help.”
Wang Chuan was about to speak when Qin Luo stopped Han Yiqun, “No need to find anyone.”
“But we don’t have enough people.” Han Yiqun said, confused.
Qin Luo looked at Wang Chuan and said calmly, “We can play, but not a full match. One-on-one. I’ll play against him. First to fifty points wins.”
Everyone was stunned by this.
Li Xuan quickly grabbed Qin Luo’s arm, “Don’t, bro. That guy’s on the basketball team. How can you play against him?”
Wang Chen also looked worried, “Let’s play a match. Li Xuan and I can defend one person together. It should be fine.”
Han Yiqun said nothing, seeing that Qin Luo wasn’t joking.
Wang Chuan and his group almost laughed out loud, thinking Qin Luo was an impulsive fool, and they looked down on him even more.
“One-on-one? Fine, I’ll play against you.” The crew-cut guy said, grabbing the ball and mocking, “I’ll even let you shoot the first three balls.”
He held the ball with both hands and quickly tossed it from his abdomen. The ball came fast and close, catching most people off guard.
But Qin Luo caught the ball with one hand, gripping it tightly. This made the crew-cut guy narrow his eyes.
“Remember to bow and apologize when you lose.” Qin Luo said, taking the ball to the court.
His three roommates followed, then Ji Yan, and Jia Ting also decided to stay, hopping along with Hao Meng and Shi Yulu.
The commotion had attracted many onlookers, including those already in gym class and others who came to watch.
What news spread?
Someone had been secretly filming when Qin Luo was surrounded by Ji Yan and the other girls. Not to cause trouble, but to share a fun video on the school forum.
After all, Ji Yan and the other girls were famous beauties, and Qin Luo had recently gained attention due to Ji Yan’s interest in him. Students loved such gossip.
But as the filming continued, things got more interesting.
Wang Chuan was a well-known student since his freshman year. Many students drove to school, but mostly seniors with ordinary cars. However, Wang Chuan arrived with a Porsche, a rich second-generation kid with good looks and good grades, making him quite popular.
Most importantly, he had once confessed to Ji Yan and got rejected.
So now, with Wang Chuan and Qin Luo facing off, it was intriguing.
As the news hit the forum, it attracted many curious onlookers.
“What’s going on? Why so lively?”
“Is 606 dorm all out again? Let me guess, it’s for Qin Luo, right?”
“Man, I’m jealous. Did this guy save the galaxy in his past life?”
“This atmosphere seems tense. What are Qin Luo and Wang Chuan doing?”
“The poster explained, Wang Chuan almost hit someone with the ball and refused to apologize. No manners.”
“Isn’t it common to miss shots on the court? No need to be so serious. No one got hurt.”
“Sure, normally it’s fine. But someone saw them do it on purpose. How can you stand that?”
“I remember Wang Chuan got rejected by Ji Yan. Is he jealous and causing trouble?”
“It wasn’t Wang Chuan. It was that basketball team guy. My Wang Chuan is very polite and he apologized.”
“What’s the point of his apology? The basketball team guy should apologize! He threw the ball!”
“Fight! Fight! I love watching this kind of drama!”
“On my way to the court to watch!”
…
A/N: I anticipated some might say this is another cliché face-slapping scene. It’s a matter of perspective. These situations might be overused, but I believe it’s within a normal range.
Writing this isn’t just for the face-slapping effect. It’s also to build a turning point in Qin Luo and Ji Yan’s relationship, leading to an upcoming high-energy plot involving a song.
This scene also smoothly introduces a new character.
I’m not overly fond of cliché face-slapping plots, but they help drive the story. This scene will be resolved today. If anyone dislikes it, please bear with it. I promise to keep such scenes minimal, only writing them when necessary, and try to avoid clichés. Thank you for understanding.
