Chapter 1054: Disqualification of Ji Qingwei’s Exam Status, White Moonlight, First Place! (2)

“However, there’s been a rather juicy rumor floating around recently. But, Qingqing, just take it as idle gossip,” Old Madam In said with a casual tone. “They say the young master of the Evolved Beings Alliance has been searching for someone. Apparently, she once saved his life, and ever since, he’s been deeply in love with her, to the point that he’d give her his heart if he could. Yet, this woman is extremely mysterious. He’s been infatuated with her for six or seven years now and is still unmarried. She’s his ‘white moonlight.’ And…”

“Cough, cough, cough!” Si Fuqing suddenly choked, coughing so hard that she struggled to catch her breath.

With a sharp turn of heads, everyone at the table looked toward her.

Yu Tang immediately stood up, alarmed. “Qingqing, are you alright?”

Lu Xingci chimed in even louder, “Sister Qingqing, if you’re in trouble, I’ll sell my big brother to raise money for your treatment!”

Lu Xingheng shot him a glance. “…”

...

What nonsense was this?

Only Yu Xiheng remained unbothered, merely raising an eyebrow. He extended a hand, leisurely patting Si Fuqing’s back. “Drink slower.”

Old Madam In hadn’t expected her to have such a strong reaction and asked, puzzled, “Qingqing?”

“I—I was just… very shocked,” Si Fuqing replied, still coughing, “I can’t believe there’s actually such a story.”

“Isn’t it surprising?” Old Madam In sighed. “I wonder who could leave such a lasting impression on the young master.”

Si Fuqing said nothing.

Please stop.

An overwhelming sense of secondhand embarrassment washed over her, almost suffocating.

But three seconds later, she composed herself.

What did Chris’ ‘white moonlight’ have to do with her anyway?

She focused intently on finishing her grilled fish.

Once the meal was over, Lu Xingheng left with Lu Xingci.

After sending off Old Madam In, Si Fuqing finally found a quiet moment. She retreated to a secluded corner and dialed Odile’s number.

The call connected quickly.

“Hello?”

“Does that young master of the Evolved Beings Alliance have a masochistic tendency?” Si Fuqing gritted her teeth. “Or has he read too many novels? I distinctly remember beating him so hard that even his father wouldn’t recognize him. Besides, he’s never even seen me in person.”

Only then did Odile realize that Si Fuqing had called because of the recent rumor spreading wildly in the evolved being community. She pondered for a moment. “Perhaps he’s simply met someone stronger than him for the first time and submitted to your fists.”

Si Fuqing: “…”

So he was a Stockholm syndrome patient after all.

“Tell him to stop spreading nonsense,” she said, taking a deep breath. “Pretend I’m dead.”

“No problem,” Odile assured her. “Leave it to me. When it comes to verbal confortation with him, I’ve never lost.”

Satisfied, Si Fuqing left the matter in Odile’s hands.

Odile, meanwhile, pulled Chris out of her blacklist and sent two messages.

[Odile]: Stop looking. She’s been making headlines recently. She’s a grown woman, and you still can’t see her?

[Odile]:You’re blind. What ‘white moonlight’ are you even talking about?*

Chris, who was in the middle of dealing with official business: “…???”

He couldn’t reply to either of the messages because he was blacklisted again.

His personal guard, noticing his sudden change in expression, was alarmed. “Young Master?”

Was something serious about to happen?

Chris turned his head, asking in a melancholy tone, “Am I really blind?”

The guard was taken aback. “Young Master, how could you be blind? You’re a Class S evolved being.”

Chris fell silent.

Sensing the shift, the guard cautiously ventured, “Young Master, the eldest daughter of the In family is waiting outside.”

Chris poured himself a cup of coffee, his handsome face showing clear signs of displeasure. “I’m not seeing her. I’m blind.”

The guard: “…”

How childish.

No doubt, he’d had another argument with Miss Odile. He always lost, so why even bother?

The guard had no choice but to go outside and explain how unfortunate their young master’s recent luck had been.

“Is it because of that girl?” In Yunxi asked patiently. “Does she have any distinct characteristics? I could help search.”

The guard, recalling Chris’ usual descriptions, repeated them: “A goddess of war, unmatched beauty, a flawless figure, and unparalleled medical skills…”

In Yunxi maintained her flawless smile throughout. “Alright, I’ll keep that in mind. If I find anyone fitting that description, I’ll contact you.”

The guard nodded. “Take care, Miss In.”

In Yunxi and her guard left.

Once they were a good distance away, her guard couldn’t help but ask, “Miss In, does such a person even exist? That sounds like a deity.”

“A figment of his imagination,” In Yunxi said, pinching the bridge of her nose, her tone helpless. “People in love see everything through a filter. There’s no one that perfect.”

No wonder Chris hadn’t found her after all this time.

Such a person didn’t exist in reality—of course he wouldn’t find her.

**

The evening after the written portion of the international joint examination, all the test papers were sealed and sent overnight to the Free State’s Intercontinental Research Institute.

Each year, before the joint exams, the institute already had a list of their top seed candidates. Wilbur Flore was one of them.

The professors spent the entire morning grading the papers and inputting the scores into the system before unsealing the exam papers.

Before long, an assistant pulled out Wilbur Flore’s paper.

“257 points. Not bad,” one professor remarked, pleased. “That’s higher than last year’s top score.”

The assistant smiled. “It’s a shame, though. He didn’t hit 280. If he had, he’d be able to join the Intercontinental Institute directly.”

Last year’s top scorer had earned 254 points, and each point in these exams made a significant difference.

Only one person had ever scored above 280 in all the years of the international joint examination.

Unfortunately, their mental fortitude had been weak, and they tragically took their own life.

“Oh?” The professor suddenly exclaimed. “What a striking young lady.”

The top left corner of the answer sheet, where the photo of the examinee was attached, featured a plain ID picture. Yet, even in such a format, Si Fuqing’s appearance stood out, refreshing to the eye.

“That’s right,” the assistant remembered. “One of the candidates this year is a star from the Great Xia Empire.”

“A celebrity, huh?” The professor adjusted his glasses. “But she did well. Scored 92 in mathematics.”

Wilbur Flore had only scored 95.

The professor scrolled down to see all of Si Fuqing’s scores, and his expression slowly froze.

Suddenly, he stood up, shocked.

Her total score summary was as follows—

Mathematics: 92

Physics: 93

Biochemistry: 94

Total: 279.
